Episode 257 Discussion: 27th April 2013

More Name calling, Aryan wants Sultan to get Acchi Madhu from Ganda RK, Dips plans to seek out Sultan's help in separating VampBala from Hero RK and RK-Madhu go on their date maintaining the lovely charades of Biwi-Pati.

Events of the Episode
  1. Dips threatens to reveal Madhu's revenge plan to RK. Madhu is not scared and thwarts Dips threat by calling RK herself.  RK comes but Dips is unable to tell RK anything and instead praises Madhu in her gown.  Together Biwi and Pati BBB their Dipali Bhabhi.
  2. Sultan is teaching Aryan how to dress cushion with cushion covers. Aryan asks Sultan why good Madhu cannot stay with them who are one good family of him, Sultan and Kaaka. Why is she staying with Bad RK.
  3. Dips is disappointed that her plan to reveal Madhu's true intentions towards RK was thwarted by Madhu. She is expressing all this to Sikky. She keeps thinking and gets an idea that Sultan should be involved to seperate Rishbala. She gets the idea that she should get Sultan's number from Padmini.
  4. RK and Madhu go to some restaurant/hotel/discotheque. Everyone there is awed at seeing the Superstar. RK does not order any drink and just takes water, but says his dialogues that he wishes wine to be ordered so that even she too can have it and unravel all the secrets hidden in her eyes.
  5. RK goes for a game of who looks at each other for longest time. MAdhu plays it, RK loses it. Madhu sees it to be as losing because his fangirls were distracting him.
  6. Soon two fansgirls come and ask for his autograph over a tissue. RK says he can instead sign on their wrists. The fan girl is so mesmerized that she calls RK as Tum becoming too personal from her formal Aap.  Madhu gets jealous and wants to go. RK calls her Biwi and asks her if she is going have a chat with Salman Khan.  Madhu sits back at the table.  Episode ends
  7. Audience reaction :  What is all this talk about good and bad, right and wrong? Why so much of name calling ? What kind of parenting it is for children to be entertained for forming opinions on people that they do not know?  What are these truths that look like lies ?

Filler and Drag Episode

7:02 mins of  Dips with RK and Madhu.  Was it entertaining ? I guess. But it was more of drag-fest.
2:53 minutes of Aryan and Sultan - Bitching about RK.  Aryan is becoming the Oldwife who has lot of stories to share from the village.  What can you call this scene ?  Two pests planning to add more pests into their life.
2:39 mins of  Sikky and Dips -  Do we really need this ? Such a devious planning to get hold of Sultan and send him to the same place where Dips Object of affection and Hate are present.
6:54 minutes of RK and Madhu - what was this ? May be Rishbala fans liked it.

Hilarious dialogue of the day. ----Sort of...

Aryan to Sultan : Main Accha, Tum Acche, Kaake Acche, Hum sab acche log, Madhu bhi Achhi, RK ganda, Madhu hamaare saath kyon nahi rahti ?

Aryan  = Dips

Both are using Sultan

Aryan wants to Sultan to rescue Acchi Madhu from Ganda RK
Dips wants Sultan to  take away VampBala from Hero RK

I have been itching to share my thoughts ever since I heard little Aaryan brand RK as 'Ganda'. I am a parent myself, and I reprimand my children for not being respectful towards other people, especially elders. I encourage my children to see situations from other's perspective or at least give them a benefit of doubt.
That whole conversation between father and son looked like Sultan was happy to hear Aaryan voicing his feelings. Sultan definitely needs lessons in parenting. Can his behaviour not be labeled as selfish? He first used his son as bait to lure in his rivals, now he is encouraging his young son to form strong opinions, that are in line with his thought process. Is this not being selfish?
I am getting wary of the moral high ground or goodness of heart Malik's and Sultan are shown to have. Maybe there is something wrong with me, but I feel that Sultan and Madhu are equally, if not more, selfish as RK. At least RK accepts his arrogance and ego, the other two see no failings in their own selves. Amazing!
Apart from this, there was nothing much to write home about...everything else was expected...
  1. Deepali was not going to spill the beans, she knows RK will not believe her.
  2. Madhu was to feign jealousy  due to fans(thanks to the SBB/E24 segments)
  3. "Unique" lighting in the "Fine-Dining" restaurant (there has to be a limit to cost cutting, this looked more like a cafe/college hang-out)

JJ,

Thank you for making the best of the episode.  The points you made are the highlight of the episode. The too much drumming of good, wrong, bad, accha, ganda, hero, villain , vampbala, chawlbala, giri-hui, paagal, kameena, Rakshas, Jaanwar against a laughable backdrop of questionable professional backgrounds like mafia, underbelly of Film Industry, where one does not exist as civil elements for betterment of country's betterment and another that has been struggling to build itself into recognized powerful authorities of Film Industry to challenge established players, somehow keeps bringing the economist  and realist inside present in each of us and its keeps telling us...WHAT IS ALL THIS IDLE TALK ABOUT ?

I mean, there is a limit to name-calling. Can we drag children also into the established norm of MBVerse where name calling is rampant between all characters ?  They call each other names that are sometimes...making them angry at each other, or sometimes pleasing to each other.

What is this genre called ? Where the dominant humour is to label each other ?

I wish someone gives a pictorial commentary like yesterday when Zoe and Anastasia have the pictures to state the underlying sentiments that became visible to audience.

@Shri - Thanks Shri. I agree with every word you wrote. There is a limit to what can be pushed down under the pretence of creative liberty. What appealed to me about this show when I got hooked on sometime in september of last year, is completely missing - be it storyline, acting, creativity, direction even production value.

There's some biblical phrase about "Out of the mouths of babes..." etc, and how the CVs used it today! Very cheap, ST/RS/GH, very cheap, to have a 5-year-old lisp out your plan for this track.Angry

The award for the most perceptive viewer goes to Shri, who's been seeing this coming for a long time now. ClapThe "good girl" Madhu will go to the "good family" of Aryan, Sultan and dear old Kaka before long.

But she was anything but good today. Fangs were pulled out to deal with Deepali, daring her to do what she wished. Challenges were accepted with RK, to play eyesie-eyesie. Jealousy was allowed to surface, when a fan got too close to him. Meowr!

Really, right now, she's the most dangerous one out there!Evil Smile

But no one was good today...everyone is emerging a dirty shade of gray -  Deepali? Always some scheme to oust Madhu, so check. Sikky? Able assistant to Diabolicali, check indeed. Madhu? Scheming, planning, provoking, daring, check, check, check. RK? He's our perennial bad boy, so check by default.

He's gray to the extent of being almost black, but is he "gandha"? If one of my kids uttered something like that about an adult we know, they would suffer the sharp edge of my tongue. But the cat got Sultan's tongue today apparently, or maybe the kid just uttered what Sultan wishes would happen. Not good parenting, Sultan!Thumbs Down

Today, I felt a twinge of sympathy for RK. Right now, no one is on his side, not completely, not even Bittuji. In fact, maybe even RK is not on his own side. It is completely set up for him to fall.

The episode kept me engaged, despite the numerous promos and off-screen moments we've been "treated" to. I must say, that restaurant looked el-cheapo. What would it have taken to do this in a real restaurant I wonder...?

P,

Now that award is given, let me also show peeps that I do deserve it, Wink   Oh! God!! me the braggart...LOL  But seriously...I liked those portions of your review.

Seriously, I am really thinking...how can you use kids?  Agree that kid is gangsters kid and motherless...but then over TV medium.  Do you think we should go to that broadcasting content complaint-box for these kind of things.  I am sure there are no rules...but heard that Shabana Azmi heads it. Isn't she okay person to review these thing?  I am upset at rampant increase of branding people with labels in the show...to the extent that they are using even kids.

And re RK getting our sympathy when a kid who is not even 5 yrs old I guess is mouthing him as Ganda (btw the kid has not seen RK, just heard his voice) and a 30 year old man's  takes it as WISDOM, then CVs have indirectly shifted audience to RK's camp.

And see what I said on Thursday episode and that is what started happening since yesterday.

If this was a war between equals tomorrow we should have an interesting episode where RK will get a chance to show his RK'esque mind.

But this is a war of unequals. The CVs this time are determined to have RK lose everywhere with Madhu and her allies.  So RK's RKeasque will be defeated  by himself when he would get too eager to believe M or would want her to win him with her answers. Basically he would be ready to get sold, which we viewers will gulp it down with little difficulty. But I guess then we should look for RK antics and go for our LOLs.

Let me count how many ways he has lost with Madhu since revenge track and Sultan Entry Track
  1. Madhu wins the 3 day bet and continued to work at the Studio. Madhu gets back on her feet.
  2. Sultan has bit by bit made RK feel himself like a loser.  And on top of it, CVs give trendy wardrobe to Sultan, but give shirts to Superstar. CVs (Mukta Dhound) ask Sultan/AR to tone up his body, where RK/VD does not maintain his fitness (ofcourse he doesn't get time ...not to offend RK  and VD fans). Madhu can easily now lose fear of RK.
  3. RK has started looking a crazy person whereas Sultan looks such a gentleman ready to escort milady and his kid.  He is basically a good person. Madhu can now easily get out of love for RK and befriend Sultan
  4. And lastly RK has become gullible and over-confident of  Madhu's love and commitment for him. Madhu is all set to strike when iron is red hot Cool
What is still the saving grace for him ?  Somewhere his instincts are still sharp, which allow him not to go for shooting himself or anyone else.  Somewhere he realizes that he cannot deserve Madhu's love or her company or her commitment towards him.

On the surface, from Madhu's behaviour all we can gauge is that she needs a friend and he's volunteered.AngryAnd he takes his relationships verrry seriously. Angry

Sounds,

Glad that you see this. I said the same thing. See how he messed up on Thursday/friday for Madhu. RK is already in suspectful mode...and what's happening is that like Madhu thinks of RK to be taught lessons, RK is infact learning lessons by himself.   I don't think this is what Madhu planned for.

See what I was saying...

What were the most important dialogues between them?

Sultan = I will always interfere if anything wrong happens to you

Madhu = Kyon Sultan ?

Sultan = Tum Jhoot mujhse nahin bol sakti
Madhu = Aur sach main tumhe bata nahin sakti

Now this really does not bode well for Madhu. Things may turn out to be at her advantage or disadvantage if Sultan keeps interfering her business.

Ex: Like today. Madhu wanted to meet him, maintain the anonymous relationship (like she says to RK, koi rishta nahin hai mera uske saath) and walk back to RK mansion as unnoticed as she was when left the premises. But Sultan followed her and made sure, she gave him lovey dovey looks and that (soft) hand that he held for quite sometime.  But poor Madhu, to her disadvantage the CCTv camera caught it. Saari Mehnat Bekaar gayee because of Sultan's unwanted interference. Now she has do that much extra "patana" of RK that she is all his and no one else's.

In the same token, if he thinks, she can never lie to him and she tells him that she can never mention the truth to him, this too can be matter of advantage and disadvantage to her. For ex: an imaginary situation where RK "pit bhi sakta hai Sultan se" if Sultan sees Madhu expressive face that does not lie and may show pain and when she refuses to tell him the truth what she really means by that kind of painful face. Advantage, you see.  But somedays, it may turn unpleasant also.

Nothing much to write about today for me.  Just a few superficial comments:
  • Liked RK-Madhu's word play with Dips.
  • Whats the story with Aryan? Found the concept of a child mouthing those dialogues kind of distasteful.   Maybe the sole aim is to voice something that the father wants to hear and then justify taking action on.  Laughed though when Aryan says that Sultan is good etc etc.  Good one.
  • Dips trying to figure out how to get Sultan's phone number.   Coming up with the brilliant idea of sneaking a peek at Padmini's cell.  This is why people need to password protect their cell phones.
  • RK-Madhu with their respective masks on at the restaurant.  Madhu eyes were cold, RK's were searching.   Nothing really very romantic about the entire scene.   RK continued to look smashingly dashing though.
The precap:  on to Monday.    All this is beginning to feel very operatic (think Un Ballo in Maschera,  Don Giovanni etc etc.)

On another note, I just had an observation to make.  Noticed that when Madhu came out wearing the gown, she was asked to repeat "RK tum mujhse bhi zyada acche lag rahe ho".  To this Madhu instead said, "RK, tum is jacket mein mujhse bhi zyada stunning lag rahe ho".  Did Madhu imply Mark Twain's quote, "Clothes make the man..."?  Yet downstairs, RK turned this very saying upside down and corrected Dips that it wasn't Madhu who was looking good in the gown but it was the gown that was looking good on Madhu.  I am treating this to be the precursor to his losing the eyelock bet on the date.  He appears to be purposely giving in to her even before leaving from home.

BL,
Wow!!!! What an observation there on dresses and compliments.  I was really noting those dialogues for both...but the way you put it, its much more interesting use of witticism. LOL
