Madhu - Padmini -Chawl  Scene

The Revenge or Teaching RK a Lesson is Full On.  Padmini warns Madhu to be careful and Madhu asks her mother to trust her.

Madhu to Padmini : Main Madhubala Padmini Malik ki beti Hoon

  • Logical Me: Ahaan...the CVs are playing resounding sound as she says this.  So they need me to pay attention. Geek
  • Emotional Me: She called herself previously as Padmini Chaudhry's daughter on Jagraata day in RK mansion. Now in the heat of the moment too, glad that she called her mother as Padmini Malik not forgetting that she is now married to her adopted father Shamsher Malik. Just that I had a teeny-meeny regret swell in my heart, "Madhu,  if you also remember that Padmini Chaudhry became Padmini Malik because of RK"  :(
  • Logical Me: Okay CVs registered it and am seeing the miss. But are you also officially saying from now onwards Madhubala is not Madhubala Shamsher Malik ? Is Shamsher Malik permanently retired ? Ermm!!

If Madhu's logic is same as mine, then this is what I think she thinks. I wonder!!!!
  • RK Waala Sabak - I don't forgive the one who slapped me. I give a greater slap on her heart.
  • Madhu waala Tareeka - We will see.  Okay need to watch MEIEJ at 8:30 PM Mon thru Sat.
  • Padmini ke Sanskaar - Padmini's sanskaar so far for me - Be a good mother, Inculcate good habits, morals to your daughters, but also occassionally indulge them, be protective about daughters, love for step-daughter - amazing and outstanding it is. Remain chaste and virtuous woman throughout your life - this also includes remain faithful to Ex-husband, even when not staying with him, keep Karwa Chauth for years and ultimately kill an abusive husband only if he tries killing her child.  So I guess I am right about Madhu revenging on RK to protect Sultan :)))

Dips - Sikky -RFOL
OMG!!!  Nothing to talk about. I can keep seeing it.
The couple crack the code that Madhu might be here to avenge herself.

Madhu - RK - The Gifting, receiving, the dressing and the complimenting
The Biwi walks in frightened and the assumingly almost cuckolded Pati  tries to show as nothing happened at all. Ahaan!!

Madhu must have expected an RK riling up for her mentioning that she has been to Sultan's place.  She must have thought of making him jealous or maybe have him yell another time and show his pain, craziness...how could you see him...you are mine kind of insecurity that he has been yelling so far whenever it is anything to do with Sultan. And when Madhu without committing any falsity mentions her being to Sultan's place, the man does not ask her. He is not even upset that she went to her mother's place without his permission.

Wasn't an opportunity to show him that he does not trust her get wasted here ? A lesson missed by the student...why is the student not misbehaving ?

So when did RK plan buying the gown ? After seeing the CCTv footage ? And sleeping on the couch, waiting for her return in all darkness. And the moment her answers are done, he rams the box in her hand, not giving her time and starting the countdown. And she bows down to the countdown.  ShockedSince when Madhu started being docile to RK's wishes. Confused Wasn't her habit to always being obstinate about not being asked to wear this or that. Its always her wish. I mean...the first Party night in August, she gave him such a hard time getting dressed up. She knew he planned humiliation for her so she was reluctant.  And when he asked her to change the saree to something else on Jagraata night, she stubbornly refused to change even when she knew there was no humiliation involved there. And since when Madhu saw him gifting ? Isn't it surprising it to her ? Ermm

Well !! Small mercies. They both are keeping pretenses of their old character when Madhu hesitates a little to dress up.

Katl kar do, aao mitao, tayyaar hoon main fanaa hone ke liye
Dhak sako to khud ko Dhak Lo, kyonki yeh aag kaam aayegi mujhe jalaane ke liye

LOL LOL Was he reminding her that she needs to cover her bare shoulders, that she was so sobbing about for being feeling humiliated on the set that he tried her to get her dressed in that gown and was removing her stole. LOL!!!

Madhu - Dips Interaction - I know you so well !!!
Dips - Wowing at Madhu !!!! ROFL Dips ke Paaon Tale zameen khisak gayee ROFL
Madhu to Dips - OUTT . Ahaaan !!! LOL  Bring it on us.
And Dips called Madhu as Madhubala Shamsher Malik. So Shamsher Malik is still in. Wink

What I found most interesting was that Dips is asking Madhu not to underestimate her by saying not to think of her as a weak player like RK.  WackoErmmQuestion  Since when RK is a kaccha Khiladi than Dips ? Did I get RK wrong ? Madhu too is heeding to these words. Geek

I am wondering ? Dips the egotist; does she really think RK is still the Kaccha Khilaadi after so many of his suprises to her ?  She is really one big self-satisfied fool. D'oh But then, why Madhu should start registering this Question Geek  Is she paying attention to the fact that if Dips could see through her plan, even RK will ? Stern Smile I wonder !!!!!

To be continued tomorrow

When she wore gown earlier.  She had cried previously. That was his first moment of pangs for her. His inability to stop her from crying, That wall separated them. Then that darkness. He runs to care for her. She is angry...in their tussle, as he accidentally rips her sleeve, she drops her duppatta, she slaps...the 5th slap that was lampooned as "Ab iska badla kaise loge ?"  LOL

My My such a hungama for that blue gown.
and now another hungama for the black gown.

Only difference being she was not knowing that he loved her during blue gown and she was still his enemy. And now she knows he loves her and she is his Biwi.

But aren't the principles the same ?
The gowns look the same type.
He is the same man who saw, she didn't like coming down in that gown with bare shoulders.
She is the same woman who covered her shoulders in stole.

Who are they fooling ? Each other ? or the audience or what's the game ?

Anyways Madhu returns back...RK questions her ...the fact that he is so cool about it all and wants to take Madhu on a date should have warned Madhu that something is wrong but she attributes RK's behaviour to his eccentricity. Madhu's expressions/response all this while is that of guilt and evasiveness and RK is observing her carefully. I thought he purposely picked a gown that was even more revealing than one on set and take her out in public...a normal Madhu would have fought with him, lectured him and decided to wear a saree but this Madhu decides to wear the dress. While there is some hesitation but nothing that would come as normal. I thought he puposely takes off the necklace...it was twin scene to one him taking off stole and baring her shoulders. Surprisingly this time there is no embarassment or discomfort. I wonder what was going through RK's head ...Was he wondering if he ever really knew Madhu and which version of her was true?...Was he seething with anger after the realization that Madhu is playing a game with him? Did he feel sad that his angelic Madhu had turned into this person? Did he feel responsible for Madhu's change or did he blame Sultan for it?

Some dialogues that stood out to me-
" I was sleeping but I am wide awake now"
" A mother can be angry but never her mamta. I understand mamta but i do not understand biwita"
" You and this rose are both back in thier right place ( pause with thoughtful look) ...with me"
"the poetry-khatam kardo...aayo mita do...tayyar hoon main fanaa hone ke liye
dhak sako to dhaklo khud ko ...yeh aag aage kaam ayegi mujhe jalane ke liye"
"Then don't walk...your feets are very delicate...don't keep them on earth...they will sprain"
"Don't take off your shoes...if you keep them on land ...they will get dirty"

Almost every dialogue seems to have a double meaning. RK was judging Madhu every minute and there was this odd look in his eyes. I am not sure if Madhu has yet caught on or not. I still keep wondering if she truly means to ditches him...would it not be more diabolical if she stays with him in her loving avatar while he is constantly suspicious of her love and is hurt?

Same things were going in my head. The dialogues, the acting.  Both were handling innuendos of each quite well.

  • Madhu must have expected an RK riling up for her mentioning that she has been to Sultan's place.
She must have been upset as her one aim at teaching him lesson on tolerance and trust is wasted. No ? Confused Question
  • RK must have expected Madhu all to be riled up for getting a revealing dress for her. And she put up with his act. It must have confused him. And what she should have felt at the dress, I already said that in my review.

QuestionQuestion QuestionQuestionQuestion QuestionQuestionQuestionQuestion QuestionQuestionQuestion

Pointers/Lessons for today:
  • Woman should be respected and not hurt.
  • I will teach him lesson what it is to love and what is its pain.

So Madhu is full on showing to RK and audience that
  1. She is truthful to RK. She spoke truth to RK, told that she went to Sultan and her mother's place.
  2. She is dressing up to his whims.  Did not even once question him on the propriety of the dress for her.

What are the twists here for Madhu?
  1. RK did not question her at all. When he heard where she had been to, RK did not blow-up at the mention of Sultan's name.  Madhu can question herself - Does he trust me ?  Is he so blind in my love now ?
  2. Audience knows that ...What she does not know is that RK also saw her giving her hand to Sultan for good amount of time with truthful eyes like his Madhu has always been. RK can see that this new Madhu before him is not his old Madhu. RK already saw the difference through CCTV.

What are the twists for RK ?
So Madhu was not keeping it clandestine. She was being factual. She tells me that she had gone to see Sultan and then went to her mother's place. So this is still my truthful Madhu, though she is not the same Madhu as before. She looks differently at Sultan. And She is still with me... May be I was wee bit too suspectful about her. My Madhu can never be the false one.

What are the twists for Audience (Meaning Myself) ?
  1. He did not blow up at Sultan's name. Is he covering that he felt insecure when he saw that Madhu have her hand to Sultan or he is happy that Madhu told him the truth and is convinced of her good intentions always. Is that a sign of RK's inflated ego or sign of trust for Madhu? Confused Seems both to me. Geek
  2. Wearing a Gown by a Superstar's wife these days is not a big deal. Infact it is an acceptable social dress. But is gown for a Superstar's wife acceptable in SOAPWORLD ? Is this some devilish tool to bring RK down ?Ermm
  3. Madhu is dressing up to his whims.  Gifting, Gown and Date - He never gifts her anything unless he plans to humiliate her. He did this twice to her. One the black saree and another time the red saree. It is being disrespectful to her in Madhu's eyes. But RK did this. So kinda cementing in her mind that RK is villain, she is his property and he can doll her in anything as he wishes. He can give her 15 minutes or 10 minutes...what's new about this? - So how is Madhu  planning to teach him a lesson about this ? Through Sultan ? But how does she know Sultan will be there. I better wait.Geek
  4. RK has gifted her a gown that she cannot like. He is giving her limited time. He is adding ego line. He is asking her to compliment him. He is indirectly hinting her, may be she should want to cover herself. But she is complying to all his whims. She did not protest even once like the Jungli Billi she is. She did not refuse much, only a little bit to wear the gown, did not fight him, lecture him, did not talk about how self-important he feels about himself and how he never cares for other feelings. Did he forget that she once cried before and went to extent of slapping him on that day. RK - Did you forget that Madhu's pain from that day. ErmmConfused
  5. RK -If you know Madhu does not like gown, then when she dressed up in the gown,  then as a man in love with her, how could you let her walk out of RK Mansion like that ? So you really do not respect Madhu as she thinks of you ?AngryConfused
  6. Or, RK is there a motive behind presenting Madhu the gown ? Are you suspecting something that you want to find out through this ? Confused Geek
  7. I mean, RK are you really obtuse not to see what pain your wife must be going through wearing that gown and putting up that fake smile and complimenting you or CVs are painting you as the obtuse guy ? ShockedOuch GeekAngry
  8. Is RK faking it or not ?  Is he becoming gullible through his inflated ego or is he willing to be gullible for Madhu's sake.Question

@Shri, I feel the same way.  If this was a movie, I would've already peeked at the ending.  I have no clue as to how this track will end.. Who will be victorious in pulling a fast one over the other one; however, one thing is certain: the audience will get conned for sure'
Responded by Me
Me too. D'oh Zoe, in the history of MEIEJ watching, was I ever confounded like this ? Silly Even the unwedding did not confound me. I just felt stumped there.

I am really in need of RK's dream. Because only that serves as a reality of RK to me. Geek

March 30th episode tells us that Madhu dances with him...but by end of it, he sees her eyes piercing his conscience and yet he tries to forget about the pain it causes to him and asks if Sultan too looks at her like this...and through that he makes out that she is not with him.

I am fine with that outcome.

But the pointers that Madhu is giving about RK needs to respect her, needs to understand her love, needs to understand her pain, not be self-centered...in all these things today, they showed us as failing.

Question is ...is he really failing ? because if he is really failing then, Madhu is sure gonna get her revenge done.

And if Madhu thinks RK is the villain of the story, I am fine with that.
But I as a audience need to see through this track, that unknown to Madhu, RK is also developing heart and actually turning the hero. I am actually very apprehensive today. Because in RK's revenge theme, Madhu's innocent love was saving grace. And in same token in Madhu's revenge period, RK's experienced kind of love should be saving grace, else Rishbala is doomed. Dead

Telling you need to watch the gown drama and parapet walking drama to get the hints, where this is all going.Stern Smile

Its not so simple as it looks. Infact there is lot of layered meaning in the imagery and dialogues and context. Everything is dubious and yet so factual.  Mirages or Oasis ?Question

Earlier all his dreams were turning true.
Now his Tuesday dream, the CVs falsified it for him in execution. So actually already sending on deceit path.

So today I was randomly thinking that I had no idea at all when I first started watching this serial (somewhere after the 4 pheras wedding) what I was letting myself in for.  What an insane, crazy, nail-bitingly addictive serial.  Its got me totally tied up in knots.

And while I'm at it, a few really time pass comments:
  • Madhu's make-up felt to me totally femme fatale, dressed to kill-ish, reminded me of Angelina Jolie.
  • Felt bad for Sikky being so pathetically happy when Dipali threw a few crumbs his way and kissed his cheek.
  • Am not really looking forward to seeing Sultan tomorrow (in his pizza delivery boy disguise)
By dramacrazy12
@Shri: Same pinch! I too am confounded but by with different set of issues and then I came to different set of conclusion.

The implication today was RK does not respect women...but does he really not do that. Yes, there are times when his ego or anger takes over and he bends others to his whims but it has got nothing to do with gender. He disrespected Radha and Dips but he rarely initiated the insult...it was almost always reaction to something they did or when they were being meddlesome.

He was extremely respectful to Paddy for most part and to Madhu for that matter before unwedding or after unwedding. There are only 2 instances when he actually disrespected her on a personal basis
1)At the party
2)At unwedding

I don't count him carrying her back and asking her to stay disrespectful because in his mind that is what Madhu wanted ...she was just being stubborn becoz of her anger. He was just giving her a reason without her having to compromise with her pride. The very fact that he admires her fighting spirit and listens to her implies some level of respect. He cancelled the shoot when he saw a lady from crew faint on KC and actually got her water. That was respect.

Now for second lesson- love and pain of love...which pain of love are we talking about ...the pain of betrayal...the pain of knowing that your partner might not love you or the pain of not being able to express oneself or the pain of knowing that you are being held hostage forced to compromise with your values because of your feelings. I have to guess it is the last one because RK knows all the other three pains.

As I pondered...I realized if that is indeed the track then Madhu's monologue makes complete sense...RK is selfish because he decides without factoring other people's interest or preferences when they are at odds to his own. He is disrespectful because he forces his decision on others without asking them and using thier feelings for him as leverage even knowing the consequences have to be borne by others and when his decision do go wrong...he belittles thier impact and expects everyone to fall back in line. He needs to be taught love  and pain of love- he needs to be taught what it is to put other's emotions before his and how it feels to be forced into doing something unsavoury or undesirable because you love a certain person too much to hurt him in anyway while the person in question does not seem to care for your dilemma and belittles it. She is right... his ego will never let him bend or he will never learn to accept all his decisions may not be right and ask for other's opinion.

That however changes her revenge...in that case she does not plan to take him all the way to a fake marraige to betray him but instead put him in a situation where he decides to let her go because he feels she will be happier that way. It means that he will have to let go of his ego or  agree that he failed her as choice husband...learn to love...feel the pain of making a decision he does not want. He will be respectful when he gives her that choice and he will be rewarded for his learning when Madhu decides to stay with him forever. It also implies that she has to let him know that while she is here for her love but she is not happy with him which is exactly what she is doing by behaving uncharacteristicly. She is letting him make all the decisions without opposing them  though implying that she is trying to be happy with them for him but she is not. However all this while he is not allowed to suspect her love because that part is true. Madhu is back on her pedestal...she is just an angel who has decided to teach her husband about consequences of his actions and high handedness.

From RKs perspective...the gown was a test..an attempt to engage her by getting a rise out of her...he expected her to fight it but she did not. It was uncharacterstic of Madhu...RK was looking forward to a junglee billi instead he has ended up with a subdued and sickly sweet Madhu. She pretends to be happy and satisfied but something is missing. It is confusing him because he admired the upfrontness of Madhu and is now missing it. For now he thinks Sultan is the reason.

What a hypocrisy of Indian daily soaps, that a revenge is called teaching a lesson when it is the female lead in action but is called a dhoka, betrayal and what not if it is done by the male lead/supporting characters/ vamp... Just wondering...

Not that I mind Madhu revenging RK but say it is indeed REVENGE, you want the pound of flesh from him and not sugar-coat it as if you're doing a MAHAAN job...

And looks like Padmini's sanskaar's include dancing bordering on seduction in front of a crowd of peopleLOL yes of course with your husband...
Few days back wearing a gown was be-izzati and today nothing... LOL...There was no difference between the two gowns... just saying... not that am complaining...

Zoya, I loved reading all of the above Hug..
@Bold, totally agree!!! I was thinking that if double standard is not practiced, then the pedestal will remain empty and useless.  Someone always have to stand here...
@Red, I believe the foundation of this track is based on hypocrisy, so I won't be surprised to see more hypocritical behavior welcoming us every day; at least until this track is put to the rest.

Did Padmini even stop to think...what if madhu really loves RK? After all, they were heading towards a beautiful relationship before the unwedding. If she loves RK, what will this whole experience do to her emotionally? Am disappointed that she suddenly seems to be all about avenging herself, her shock and Madhu by default!!?

And as for your question, Padmini already knows Madhu loves RK. Remember the dialogue she said when disowning Madhu -- You said you will fight for your love without loosing your self respect .. or something like that.

I think that Padmini knows and is terrified of the extent of Madhu's continued emotional inclination towards RK, but she does not want to consider the full extent of that factor, and was easily persuaded to ignore that as a reason for Madhu's choosing actions that would not remove her from RK's proximity.
And Madhu has been consistently wary and aware enough of this to never inform her mother of any steps she takes that prove her continued care for him or how much she is still affected by him.
Both Madhu and RK allow themselves to be influenced or swayed by their respective mother's opinion only when they are not set on a contrary course.
Had Padmini strongly opposed Madhu in her intent this time, Madhu would almost assuredly have convinced her mother of the rightness of her course this time as well.
The difference between Padmini and Radha when it comes to their children is not that both have no actual ability to rein their children in when push comes to shove.
Rather, it is that Radha knows that she has authority vis-a-vis her son only at his sufferance. The mother-son reconciliation was best described by RK when he told Madhu that at her behest, he resumed 'baatcheet' with his mother. Radha's authority and RK's filial care and support towards his mother's comforts and pretences are as they ever were, but with more overt respect and affection. Radha's slap, diatribe and threat to leave earned not even a moment's reflection from her son in the midst of his thoughts about Madhu, because he knew that it could be handled.
Padmini, on the other hand (and probably most people who hear Madhu's version of the 'ke sahaare' poem), can cherish the fond misimpression that her opinion can actually persuade Madhu against something Madhu is truly determined to do, when the truth is actually the opposite. Madhu allows herself to be persuaded if she has no set opinion. If she *does* feel driven to do something, she simply persuades Padmini into agreeing and concurring. She does it respectfully and lovingly, but the effect is the same every time.
The only person who could ever get either RK or Madhu - directly or causatively - to do something they did not themselves intend and firmly against their personal choice and inclination was each other.
I found Padmini's lecture unnecessary except in whitewashing, because the fact is that it's Madhu who is going to have to decide each step what she will and will not do. And if she were so certain of her mother as an actual fullscale confidante, Padmini would not currently be the most ignorant person in the Kundra-Bhatia-Mallick families about the major recent events involving Madhu including drunk night and pretty much everything thereafter which Padmini seems to always find out in time to panic and then be calmed down by Madhu but never informed otherwise.
Padmini seemed to serve as a catalyst so that Madhu could voice her intent, but she made no attempt to serve as a clarifying agent of that intent. It appeared to be neatly distracted from with the lofty ideals phrased to cover what actually may or may not be intended.
Why was there never a mention that MEIEJ had ambitions to masquerade as a suspense mystery? Surely they could have catered to that niche as well. Never a straight answer, and hail ambiguity.Ouch
Responded by Me
I second that.  Now I am not even proud of myself that I always become the detective/Sherlock Holmes when I watch this show...though I do it by default.  Seriously ...they churn out thriller episodes, Gupt Kind, Woh Kaun Thi Kind...their imagery and props (supporting characters and scenes wise).  They always add confusion points to mislead audience deliberately.

Yesterday, the confundus charm that I was under was because so many deliberate misleading attempts on my soul/brain by the story teller and not the per se characters of the drama.  That's where I got the scare.

Leela,  reading that comment from you...I feel happy. ClapClapClap

My RANDOM THOUGHTS
All i wanted to mention it here that it was Colors Creative team who have asked Nautanki CVs to add this Sanskaar word to Madhu's Teaching lesson Concoction.

I see it business advertisement by Colors to promote their other fiction programme "Sanskaar"

That's the reason why I lampooned with listing all Padmini's cultural values and manners. I had immediately recalled Sanskaar soap and news tit-bits related to in IF-TB news and how most of them were gross.  Like the sister jumps in the well to create trouble for her Bhabhi.  Aise to sanskaar hai of the family into which Bhoomi went.

Now who is crazy ? Colors or Nautanki.

jumping in the well to tease someone or jumping down the parapet to teach someone ?

I cannot understand...but I would like to present a Mocha Nut Fudge Coffee to the extremely tired channel and PH creatives and their endless meetings for approval/consent on episode content.  May be the aroma will induce them to see that what crap of dialogues they are weaving in name of Sanskaar and Sanskaar soap.Thumbs Up  These days I like that coffee as there are no tea bags that I can like in the office kitchen...the aroma is just ...Umm,,,,Wow!!! Lifting...Big smile

Now that as one lead takes leave, they have banked episodes...so we can assume that at least for a week, we can have  a stable story.
