Episode 201 Discussion: 21st Feb 2013

The reliving and letting go of good and bad memories by the Ex-Husband and Ex-Biwi

Events of the Episode
  1. Madhu goes to the Vanity van to meet RK as per heroine boss' order. RK is actually waiting for her. Madhu is determined not to fight with RK even if he instigates her.
  2. RK asks her to give a head massage. Madhu in order to show him as not getting affected by him and just acting as his hair-dresser, goes out to get oil.
  3. When she brings it back, she spills some oil on the lower step of the vanity van. She calls out for Spot Dada (bhai) to come and clean it and forgetfully also says that "if not cleaned RK will"... this is completed by RK.."not like it..." He goes on to taunt her that she is so hurt and broken and yet she has not stopped caring for others including for enemies like him.
  4. She gets ready to give him head massage. In the process her dupatta is stuck to his chair, she removes it...a scene that brings discomfort to both. The song "Bin tere" starts to play. As she massages him, she goes back into her memories of her previous time when she gave him the massage. He too remembers it and stiffens. After a while he stops her.
  5. As she begins to leave, he gives her back another memory of theirs of the back massage which happened in their hate phase. As he tries to instigate her into fighting, Madhu decides to ignore him and leave.
  6. On her way out, Madhu slips over the oily step and trips on to the ground, twisting her leg. She cries in pain. RK hearing her cry, panics and gets out, sees Madhu on the ground. He picks up her hurt foot and starts massaging it. As she cries in pain, he asks if its hurting her. The tenderness in his eyes for her, stops Madhu in her track and she keeps looking at him wondering at his concern.
  7. Soon Madhu tries to extricate herself from his hold and gets up. RK leans by the side of the vanity van and sees Madhu struggling to get up. Inspite of her protests, he picks her up and asks the crew around to get a chair for her.
  8. When he deposits her on the chair, he leans closer to her and tells her that the fight is off until her foot hurt goes away as he likes to fight her being in equal capacity. And he also tells her that no one except him has the right to hurt or defeat her. Madhu keeps on looking at him.
  9. Bittuji offers Madhu that he shall drop her at home. She refuses and takes auto to home. Madhu reaches home and Trishna and he mom are worried about her hurt foot. Trishna applies ointment on Madhu's ankle sprain. Madhu doesn't tell them what caused the hurt.
  10. RK, Bittuji are going back home. Along the way as RK keeps remembering the day with Madhu and her fall, he regrets that he had been the cause of her hurt. He asks Bittuji and his driver Rajesh to take a taxi and he himself drives away alone to some place.
  11. At the chawl, Padmini asks Madhu to leave the job as working for RK has caused that physical hurt. She becomes apprehensive of more hurts to come her daughter's way. Madhu refuses.

Episode Reviews

By Myself

Khel Khel Mein everything became serious for the two. Super serious. How ? Because its not about the hate for each other. Its about the love for each other that turned it bad for them. I felt the pain that both were undergoing. Today it was about RK(the one who loves her) and Madhu.

For me...I have never much delved deep into Why RK spurned Madhu's love and instead made it a revenge game. Infact I am more like Madhu, who recognized what made RK reject her, his Ego, his Ahankaar, seeing that massive size poster of his. And from the very beginning I am saying that getting cheated doesn't hurt her as much as him not loving her hurts her. It baffles her to no end how could his ego could have won over her love. When she had come to her senses and as he was not in physical proximity to her, she could never question him about that. She was tad too late in coming out of her shock and was unable to give a proper verbal closure to her questions when RK right in front of her was doing all that un-wedding drama. When she realized it later at the chawl, she was late and all that tangible reality left on her hands was that he led her on, cheated her.  Yes, there are certain things we cannot tell everyone...those matters of heart are best kept as secret. This she had to accept and decided to move on as that is the answer to any kind of cheating in the world.

Two days of holding her head high as the Hair Dresser before RK the Superstar actually did Madhu a lot of good. She indeed could see that she was moving on. Where it went seemingly wrong or seemingly right for her was when RK called her to vanity van today. Going to that Vanity Van was really a mammoth moment for her, as she was in a dilemma in which capacity she was going to meet him, as the Hair dresser or as his Ex-Wife. She really needed that courage. Once she met him and as she came out of that meeting, everything had changed for Madhu. Everything. The man gave her a BIG GAPING CLUE what she means to him. He made HER HIS Permanent Mark.. He said directly to her with a wink just for her eyes, but holding her in his gaze, leaning over her so closely over her chair, in a caging manner before everyone else that, "Only he has the right to hurt her and defeat her, no one else has".  What should a woman do now. Feel elated, Feel tormented or Feel great ?

If Madhu is a vengeful person looking for revenge, she shall realize that She is RK's weakness and she can make RK her fiddlestick.

If Madhu is a person trying to get far far away from RK, the she shall feel tormented that this man is never going to leave her alone. But seriously its been just 4 days. And without a proper closure between herself and RK, how can her heart just forget what she feels for him, even now. Its not the time yet for her to feel tormented.

If Madhu believed that RK loves her and that it is his big fat ego that will not accept that and instead tries to destroy what they can have, then just for her own conviction, she shall feel elated.

The way Madhu gave those expressions to RK as he winked and stated his equation with her, his ordinance for her, she was just looking at him, a pensive face trying to absorb what he did where her body(governed by her mind) was still showing resistance but her eyes and heart very much okay with what he was doing to her. She was as usual trying to read his eyes, but since she knows he is such a good actor that she is now in self-doubt and hence inspite of reading what his eyes expressed, reserving the knowledge for recapitulation at later stage.

It can be clearly said that, it is this moment that tells Madhu that as ordinary girl she might have moved on, but as the woman who loved RK to no end, gets all her latent anger back. The anger, the realization that he loves her as much as she loves him, just that he will never tell her. How pathetic and lonesome feeling is that. She knows it, but cannot talk about it to anybody, neither her family, her friends, even to her conscious mind. She can be with only her heart and this hurt when she projects on RK, she becomes the adamant Madhu who is the one who cluelessly gets affected by him. It is for her now how she can get it back to normalcy. I guess she will now fight with him equally as ego clash, as RK wanted that from her. Right ? He doesn't say he loves her or cares for her, but he says, no one can hurt you other than me. No one can defeat you other than me. She holds the key to him. So its all upto her if she wants to be vengeful or loving as always or get tormented by him.

The way she stood up for herself against her mother and said she will stand up against RK, it was anger and frustration expressed. But truth is she has to do what makes her feel good and not what hurts her more. Anyways for me MAdhu has been one character whose expressions and actions come as a surprise as she doesn't show them at all. She is not an easily read face like RK thinks.

Now coming to RK...the game changer. Why when his challenge and torment game was going on so smoothly, he had to ruin it all by calling Madhu to his vanity van ? Did it start after what he felt when her hair dryer was broke ? Because that is when he planned further torture. If Madhu was in a dilemma of how to meet RK, even RK was in a dilemma how to meet her, as a Superstar or as her Ex-Husband. Well ...something happened between the two...as each depended on the other to give a cue to him/her to get out of the dilemma, and they mutually decide that they will act Superstar and Hair-dresser, but they are going to be the Ex-Husband and Ex-Wife. It comes out so naturally and acceptable to both of them. I am not sure why they were testing out each other or actually not clawing each other, but just living their waning relationship.

He might have asked her to give a head massage expecting that her hate and disgust for him, will make her refuse him. But she is okay to give him the massage as she wants to tell her mind that he is no more capable of affecting her. This surprises RK and he has to play along. Inpite of being taunting to her every second, as she keeps genuinely showing to him that she wants to be rid of him and so will do everything he asks of her without reacting in any anger, it touches him, warms up his heart. And may be a tad relieved or tad hurt that she is moving in a direction she actually should move on. So he stops her from further massage and goes on to do the rest...the reminder of another back-massage act, which was a scene between the two when hate was there. It clicks for him. Madhu does get out of her emotions and understands his instigation to her to fight with him and just leaves the place without any fight.

However, destiny, fate has always something else set for them. Madhu has to fall and the apple cart of determination for the genuine couple trying to separate, all toppled into thin air. The man cannot hide his concern and the woman could not cajole herself to take his help (it would have been okay to accept his help if she just wanted to move on...as she could still be indifferent, like he and she showed their indifference to the head massage, even if it was a pretension).  The fall, the concern, the affectation at his care, everything ruins for both of them...and for a while, RK just leaves every plan/facade of his to air and shows himself to her and tells her what he feels for her. It is upto Madhu how she takes it...RK knows that. But he is like, that shall be dealt later, but first let me take care of myself.  So that's what happened. He drove of all alone.

In all of this, he knows that he wants to protect Madhu from himself, from his viciousness. He actually wants Madhu to be far far away from him so that she can never get hurt from him or his love. Methinks, he feels that his love for her is destructive and so he is okay is she is just away from him. He has not planned much as to what else can happen tomorrow to their relationship, but his good part (I call it the RK part) today reached out to her and showed a little bit of his side to her and actually delivered that part of him to her and he himself is apprehensively waiting to see what Madhu would do to it.

In all of today's episode, there was no Rishabh. There was only RK; his stronger self acting and presenting. He acted on spur as he is that much in love with Madhu and he wanted to his best for Madhu to get rid of him and his memories and yet he was not helped;  and when not helped, just bared himself to her. Come on now, after this scene today, who will deny that the crew there do not recognize them. Almost everyone knew that Superstar and the Hair-dresser were just fighting it out, but the real fight was all between the Ex Husband and Ex-Wife.

Precap - I hate it because Dips is there. Wish I could shoot her down. Wish I could cut her to 100 pieces the way I felt cut when I read the written update. It made me pukish and so revolted that I felt like boycotting MEIEJ for today and tomorrow. Then I felt, I will be the loser...so better I watch it. Methinks, RK is planning an act with Dips to give another riddance of memories for Madhu. He is just trying to make it quick for her to forget him. We have to see if fate/destiny will not again betray his efforts and he ends up delivering another piece of him to Madhu. Because giving piece by piece to Madhu, he is strengthening her to fight his bad side...but this is MEIEJ...so we never know the thriller portion.

IMO,this whole drama has once again boiled down to a battle of egos more than anything else.

RK's ego is known by all and sundry. But Madhu's stubbornness ,ego is cloaked under the garb of moving on in life and facing the demons heads-on rather than cowering. Even in the beginning of the show, it was this stubbornness and ego that made her take on the superstar, cloaked under the garb of being righteous and providing so-called justice to some spineless sadakchaap ladka!!!

I felt it quit evident in the RK-Madhu scene at the entrance of the vanity and during the dinner-table Padmini scene. Is she actually just being strong and not cowering in front of her enemy and moving on or is it more than that? I have always found Madhu's character to be on the lighter side of the grey spectrum but it's portrayed so subtly and chocolate wrapped that people tend to miss it unlike RK's who is on the darker side of grey and very clearly portrayed. After today's episode, I don't really find myself rooting for Madhu...Ok... May be am jumping the bandwagon early... kal kisne dekha...i might come back in support of Madhu...

Yeh dono pagal ladey ya marey, am not going to side with anyone and become a pagal along with them...

RK: At the moment he is the most confused banda on the show... He is sandwiched!!! CV's ka yeh twist ne uske dimaag ko pehle se bhi zyada twist kar diya hai!!! You might find this thought of mine crazy... but today I thought he called her to do the champi coz y'day she was jhadofying the word "Mamooli" too much!!! But then he got so affected by her touch making both of them weak and vulnerable... He quickly came out of it and reminded both of them of the massage during the early days of their marriage, reminding himself and her of his bad-boy image, and helping her gain back the much needed strength to come out of her vulnerability in his very own twisted way...

Bittuji: His self-talk almost sounded like an omen for me... Hope am proven wrong...

ETA: Everytime, I hear this Hauslon se veer hoon song, i tend to go into a comedy mood... Sorry if it actually offends anyone

The only scene that caught my attention today was
Madhu's last scene with padmini today..
She is never so stern/aggressive with her mom..But today she was... and did not want to BACK OUT of her decision even though she probably knew that her mom was right. Even the other day (tuesday)  when radha came to do the pep-talk... Madhu did not respond to her the way she usually does and did not accept anything what she suggesting...It was only later on that she made the decision by HERSELF (even though a lot of people in this thread say is a stupid one)... She is still an emotional person but her decisions now are not made keeping someone else in mind(in the case of mukund or radha/trishna during the love confession) or her decisions are not made because someone is encouraging her to do so...
They are her OWN decisions made for HERSELF and therefore does not want to BACK DOWN. So this is more for herself that she is doing rather than for proving
RK wrong or making someone else happy.

ok enough of this bashan about madhu's attitude change.. probably even madhu would not have given it so much thought. I am really addicted to MEIEJ...

Krithika,
Word it.   Agree on everything you said there.  Actually as a psychological bounceback, every cheated person loses confidence and hence to get back their confidence, nothing will make them feel better than them participating in their decision. So even if someone advises them, they need to enter into an argument with it and then decide what they would like to do.
Yes this time, Madhu is ALL ABOUT PROVING to HERSELF, RK and The WORLD the WAY SHE WANTS THEM to PERCEIVE HER.

Shri,
Loved Loved Loved  your review today !!!  Again, reading your take on the episode adds a whole new dimension to the show - in a way, it makes me hooked to this show, try as I might in staying unaffected - again the pain is very much real to me.
You nailed it when you said that Madhu was ok with whatever he did today, she put a semblance of physical resistance, but no extreme reaction. I found it so endearing the way she caressed his hair, there was no anger/irritation but it had tenderness as if for the love that had been - to me the  episode brought the purity of the love that they shared, as if the betrayal could not taint the beauty of the moments spent together.
Also, when Rk shows concern for her  in his voice, it's as if she would did not break with his insults again totally melted with a little tenderness from him.
Madhu-Padmini interaction was good- it just shows that Madhu can show her steely resolve to everyone including her mom.

Thank you Kodai.
@ bold 1.
 100% true. Pure moments of love felt stay with us for eternity. And for positive minds and also by power of love, those moments of love are always worth it. Like a draught of ambrosia. Even if betrayal happens in relationships, one tends to move forwards with good memories because they are source of energy and we feel good about it. Eventually relationships with that background reform into new equations between the same people.

@ bold 2
Madhu now atleast knows that her man loves her in a twisted manner and her anger will be unleashed in full for his drama...just that viewers may not see Madhu acknowledging this yet. The only ack I got from her, towards her knowing truth was the way she took her internal anger on her mother. Actually speaking Madhu is bodily expressing out a lot of her pain and anger. She is walking fast, she is tripping, she is holding herself high with RK inspite of being nervous, and with her mother, with whom Madhu is so close, very rightfully she is taking her anger, be it tightly gripping her wrists (in the saree/mangalsutra putting away scene) or showing her open anger. The only two people she is actually being on same wavelength is Trishna and Bittuji. because both of them are very afraid of her and also concerned for her and for not a minute doubting her confidence. because when you are low in dumps, it only matters who is giving you space and not imposing on you. Madhu's recuperation is psychologically being shown so correctly that I am impressed. Soon RK will come under her umbrella of anger.

By Soundarya (towards Kodai's post on the bolded portions)
@bold - i agree. That scene actually was quite beautiful, with both of them lost in their own world of memories. That's just it. Even in hate, indifference, fake love whatever, their world is their own, as a couple, they have always been like that. And to think we were all so nervous about it!
There was something about Madhu giving it back to her mom, that I am not able to put my finger on. It will come to me I suppose. Again, something about this fight / challenge being in its own rarefied level, just between her and RK. Noone is allowed to enter it, even out of concern for her. It's almost like the Ganpati time when she dared him to pick up the idol, and take it out. She kept on daring him, he kept on accepting her dares . Now it's the reverse case.

i don't know if I'm expressing myself clearly. Somebody help.

what did rk think he was going to be doing while madhu was scratching his head???
The awkward moment...

Syl,

Well !! today I shall take it not as RK and Madhu individually fooling each other or themselves, the person who was standing behind the two was Destiny. He failed both of them at what they were really good and adept at fighting. He just made it a little more futile for them...all efforts are futile and yet so much burden on the heart to prove to each other, to themselves and to the world, that indeed they will succeed in moving on.

Episode 199 Discussion: 19th Feb 2013

Roaring Madhu and Snubbed RK

Events of the Episode
  1. RK calls the servants to clean up the mess he made (broken glass and broken sound system mess). Once that is cleaned as he reaches out to his closet, Madhu's dupatta falls over him making him recall her. He sees her sad face and wants to make her feel better only to realize that it was her apparition. It angers him more that he is unable to control the onslaught of her memories. He calls his servants once again and asks them to throw away everything that belongs to Madhu. He keeps looking at the small Ganesha, unable to decide what to do about it. (And I have a personal question...is their photo removed from the wall?).
  2. Radha same evening goes to meet Madhu at chawl. Madhu doesn't know how to react. Padmini is rightfully upset at Radha's visit. R apologizes to M for the studio unpleasant experience she had during the day. She says that she had made Bittuji get her a job where RK is working as she wanted her son to see that M cannot be broken. M refuses to R to get into that rigmarole of showing off anything to RK. R leaves.
  3. Madhu goes into pensive mood and looks at RK's poster outside with "Ahankaar" and remembers Radhaji's words. She decides she will take RK head on to deal with hurt induced by him. The Hauslon se veer hoon chant changes into background song with only "Yuheen Balveer hoon" for Madhu...all by herself without anyone's support.
  4. Next day at the studio as RK shoots, notices that the new hairdresser for his heroine is Madhu. He is visibly upset for himself as to how miserable he is going to be and yet again tries to initimidate Madhu. As she shows herself indifferent to him and being all in control, he refuses to shoot and instead wants to deal with her first. He drags her to his vanity van and asks her why she wants to get insulted by him.
  5. An angry Madhu, warns him not to ever touch her again. And asks him to see how he fallen to associate himself with an ordinary girl like her in front of everyone. From hereon, its must watch scene as dialogues of Madhu cannot be missed. She gives it all back to RK and he is actually snubbed into silence. Lovely to see that.

Episode Reviews
Enjoyed the feline fight.  The lion and lioness typically (unlike all the other cats) have huge fights like these. Since I read everyone's reviews, so I can just state my views that go as pro or con with general opinion. So here I go.

Radha's morale boosting
I actually liked it. Madhu deserved it. Because unlike us ordinary girls, Madhu was jilted by a famous man who is now going to poke his nose inadvertantly into her life...be it his film poster within her chawl compound, be it people recognizing her as RK's Ex-Wife, be it his songs over radio, be it his news snippets...his image is not going to leave her alone like an ordinary guy and she will be nagged by that intrusion, instead of an anonymity that we have from ordinary existences. So her extraordinary predicament will actually have help when RK is in her vicinity so that she fight him out...that way she becomes immune to him and the society around her as they see fighting him. So I liked Radhaji's move. Very smart of her.  Madhu no way was going to get peace by just trying to go into oblivion. She tried and day 1 women recognized her.  When compared to me, I will say, she definitely was going to have much harder time.

RK's internal fight taking it out on the servants and Madhu
Rest of the episode was RK trying to get rid of Madhu's belongings as they revived her memories. He was vicious at himself that he was unable to not recall her memories and he turned all that bad temper towards his servants. And if that night was not enough, in the morning at the set Madhu came right in front of him. IMO, I never felt that her ignoring him caused any problem to him. I could clearly see that he was trying to protect himself. He knew with her around him, he would be miserable and he wanted to be yet again vicious so that she leaves him alone.

Aside: The way he pulled her from the set into vanity...for a moment, I think he had completely lost it and he still thought Madhu as the girl he knew. He forgot her as the woman he had hurt her badly, he actually showed his caring side unwittingly and wanted it to be best for both of them, not to be in each other's vicinity as he will have to become vile to her which would only make him miserable. A major part of his revenge with Madhu was because she greatly affects him to his annoyance. So he was yet again trying to protect her from his viciousness.   Infact, this abnoxious display of care for Madhu was what I was expecting in the new DNA of the romance.

But as soon as Madhu started speaking up, that he dare not touch her, he realized that he had crossed the decency limits (on touch part). Let's see from tomorrow onwards, if he will physically come closer to her or touch her.

Madhu's internal fight and taking it out rightly on RK
Those who are on the side of truth, they are auto-protected by God as he gives the immunity, resistance to harm. That is what happened to Madhu today. Whatever she was doing, everything was becoming her shield. Her being ordinary, her being a worker, her being cheated, her being the innocent and good hearted, dignified person...her every quality became her resource and she was able to take head on her man, her target. At real, will anybody will do that...in this case YES. Very easily, because RK took it to brawl level...so all Madhu could do was argue back. From this pit, she can only rise. And here in again, a part of RK that wants her out even if he may turn vile, a part of him that still cares for her; will allow her show her anger where she will come out dignified and he will look more and more cheaper of the two. Somehow, this serves both of them good.

Chalo..let's see what will happen tomorrow. Seems RK will try to turn a bully looking at the laathi scene per precap. When I was 10 years old, one of the school mate from other section of the same standard and another one from my class, seeing me alone actually as I was walking, slid his leg right in front of me, so that I trip and fall. Luckily I did not fall. And as I looked in surprise, the bully was like..."yeah! I did it". And I was like...what an idiotic act and I was showing him my remonstrating eyes...like what fun did you get out of it. I kept on staring at him hard and walked back in incredulous daze at his stupidity. He was twin brother of my classmate (another girl). I was like should I go and joke about him to the sister, so both can have a fight. I think I did not tell her... Anyways, he never repeated again...I thought my long stare at his ridiculous act did it.  The other classmate of mine was afraid that I might tell on him in the class. That I never did.

Regarding Radhaji's conversation with Madhu, like Shri, I also liked it.
About her being manipulative, I am inclined to disagree. Manipulation is a strong word really, and in my opinion, if she is doing this for her Rishu, she is also doing this for Madhu. She is concerned for her son and feels genuine affection towards her bahu. I don't think any of us can contest that. She really believes that Madhu is the only one who can handle her eccentric son. She strongly disagrees with RKs actions and dealings towards Madhu and is using the only means she knows to get them back together.
While we may think that their getting back together may be good for RK and not so good for Madhu, as far as Radhaji is concerned, she is looking for someone who can humanize her son. And who better than the girl who accomplished the impossible feat of helping her son reconcile with his estranged mother of 16 years?
Yes, by her own admission, she is a selfish mother. But which mother would not want her kid to be safe and happy? In RKs case, he is neither safe (from his own self-destructive streak) nor happy (obviously!). What else could she have done, really?? Left them both to ruin themselves--one would drown in a pool of tears and hurt and the other would be crushed under his own massive pride.
If we closely examine the words she used with Madhu, she is not a mother who blinded by the love of her son, wants her bahu back at any cost. She wants RK to realize Madhu's worth and wants Madhu to fight back. And I don't think she was being back handed...she was being honest.
And her words on Madhu did have the necessary effect. She is doing her best to move on and Radhaji's words served to propel. Eventually, as we all know, RK will come to his senses too. That's when Padmini's curses will begin to take effect. I do not see RK and Madhu reuniting. They should not too. I really don't think they belong together. My POV.

back in Kamal Studios, wonder what have they reduced RK to..he doesn't interact with media proprely, constantly threatening them, throwing tantrums, nor is he cordial with his production team who's giving him work, nor is he cordial with his co-stars..all he cares about is giving his shot , coming back home, drinking and sleeping? pehle at least they showed him having some interest in painting n sculptor , music, bikes, cars, all that is too expensive to shoot or what?

Wow Wow and more Wow!

I am in awe with the production team behind this show. They are probably the smartest bunch of people around. They took a huge risk last week and it looks like it paid off but more on that later.

Now back to smartness of MB team...they took an almost improbable plot... and sold it to viewers. They pacified the viewers wanting dark angsty story by painting RK black and reseting the clock. They then explained away all the bloopers by selling the idea that RK is in serious denial. They managed to pacify people who want revenge  (this is sweet revenge in some ways) by showing Madhu wants to pull RK off his ego trip, they pacify feminist by using strong dialogues and making RK almost cartoonish in his ego. They also manage to pacify the eternal romanticist among us by throwing the couple together in a way that makes sense and with all the necessary support (Bittuji, Radha, Paddy...). Madhu is no goody two shoes with tears in her eyes but a fiery character with mildly grey shades. And what is amazing is that not one aspect of this treatment is borrowed from Ekta shows so it is indeed unique. The supporting actors are getting meaty exposure in the best possible way. There is something for everyone regardless how you felt about the plot and all this without loosing thier pace. They have backed out of the corner they had painted themselves into last week...they have so many options to explore from here on...

Kudos to the team.

Dedications

I wanted to dedicate this song to Rishabh, the guy who rejected Madhu's love.
However, I didn't want Madhu to sing that for him, though it seems so apt at a subliminal level for both now under current circumstances. So let Madonna do the honours for Rishabh. Madhu is doing good fighting with him. Madonna in that black ambience can reach out to Black Raven types Rishabh.

MADONNA - FROZEN LYRICS

You only see what your eyes want to see
How can life be what you want it to be
You're frozen when your heart's not open

You're so consumed with how much you get
You waste your time with hate and regret
You're broken when your heart's not open

Mmm, mmm, if I could melt your heart
Mmm, mmm, we'd never be apart
Mmm, mmm, give yourself to me
Mmm, mmm, you hold the key

Now there's no point in placing the blame
And you should know I suffer the same
If I lose you my heart will be broken

Love is a bird, she needs to fly
Let all the hurt inside of you die
You're frozen when your heart's not open

Mmm, mmm, if I could melt your heart
Mmm, mmm, we'd never be apart
Mmm, mmm, give yourself to me
Mmm, mmm, you hold the key

***Talking about The Raven...Its Edgar Allan Poe's poem and someone in the Main forum posted an FF with Rishabh Kundra and Madhu being the leads where The Raven poem keeps coming in.  Its 'SS: One step from Hell! Vendatta" by 6th.Element. Don't know why her/his account is temporarily banned.

Popping in with my own song dedications of the night.. One of my sisters (who is a casual watcher of the show - meaning when I force her to watch it - although recently she's been joining my mom and I on her own) actually said this would be the perfect song for Madhu.

(lyrics below)

I think parts of this one are a bit more fitting after today's episode:

Jar of Hearts - Christina Perri

No I can't take one more step towards you
Cause all that's waiting is regret
And don't you know I'm not your ghost anymore
You lost the love I loved the most

I learned to live half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are
Running around leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are

I hear your asking all around
If I am anywhere to be found
But I have grown too strong
To ever fall back in your arms

I learned to live half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are
Running around leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are

And it took so long just to feel alright
Remember how to put back the light in my eyes
I wish I would have missed the first time that we kissed
Cause you broke all your promises
And now your back
You don't get to get me back

And who do you think you are
Running around leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

And who do you think you are
Running around leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

Who do you think you are
Who do you think you are
Who do you think you are

~~~~
Stronger - Kelly Clarkson
You know the bed feels warmer
Sleeping here alone
You know I dream in colour
And do the things I want
You think you got the best of me
Think you've had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
Baby you don't know me, cause you're dead wrong
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
You heard that I was starting over with someone new
They told you I was moving on over you
You didn't think that I'd come back
I'd come back swinging
You try to break me, but you see
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
Thanks to you I got a new thing started
Thanks to you I'm not the broken-hearted
Thanks to you I'm finally thinking about me
You know in the end the day you left was just my beginning
In the end...
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone
[2x]
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What I think about Redemption Track
Okay I have something to say here. Since the revenge track started...everyone keeps looking forward about redemption. And not even once this occurred to me or I give any weightage to it.
I was so confused about redemption word here and in media thread and I was like what is this and how does the need arise Confused. I chose to be quiet...until Zoya asked me the same thing...Shri...what is this redemption...and I was like okay...its just not me LOL
So I am not wanting to raise a debate, but want to state what I feel about redemption when I read others talking about, in the present context of MEIEJ show and how I react in my mind. Here it goes.
...As in what is redemption from the way you say it and why people are looking forward to it ?
...And redemption in whose eyes ? Viewer eyes or RK's eyes or Madhu's eyes or the supporting cast's eyes ? And redemption if I am not wrong...you want RK to redeem from his act of revenge. Right ? How is it even possible to revoke what he did ?
...Why do you think a person such as Rishabh Kundra will want to redeem himself. What he lost that looks as loss to us, is no loss to his conscious mind.  That's such a cheap act...first he does an unpardonable act and instead of being the Raavan, he trying to become Ram. I will have barf attack at first. I would rather have him destroy all the bad in his heart by himself. His bad side needs to die forever not just sleep or hibernate there to rise again.
...IMO...who cares about redemption from a blackened soul. I would be happy if RK resurrects himself, because no amount of redemption is gonna make Madhu forget what happened to her. If again something happens between them, then they both need to be in different frames of mind and both should resurrect themselves. And we are already seeing Madhu do it.
I read about the redemption thing but haven't had time to post on it. Most of my focus has been on madhu and how she recovers.
Redemption? That word gets bandied about in serials too much it seems to me. RK cannot redeem himself, you're right about that, because he will never see what he did as wrong, as long as he remains this avatar of RK. And that realization will bring forth a new avatar- a resurrection, not a redemption. And for me, Madhu will be the judge of it, as she is the one who was hurt. RK too will have to judge himself, but since I adore Madhu, her judgement will stand for me, not his.
I'm two minds about it, but I kinda don't want the CV's to take the track where RK loses everything and then resurrects himself- I want him to have everything, be as he is now, and realize within that surrounding that he is a despicable human being for what he did to Madhu. For me, if external circumstances force his realization, then it is not a true transformation.
Agree. Same here. Totally. Like Madonna says...he should be his own key to his locked mind that capable of hurting people so bad if they come close to him or challenge him. And here the writers again need to tread the path of unknown...through dialogue and action of flawed characters of MBVerse. But I feel, it might be difficult without introducing new plots...they cannot enact psychological drama...so they will have MB act as the key again. No ? But instinctively, I feel, they have a planned story ahead and they will roll it out slowly. Good for me!!!
Episode 198 Discussion: 18th Feb 2013
Abnoxious RK, Nervous Madhu at their first meeting, Tormented Rishbala post meeting
Events of the episode
  1. Continuing from Saturday, Madhu keeps her saree and mangalsutra safely away.
  2. New day...and Bittuji calls Madhu to come to Kamal Studio for new job as heroine's hairdresser. Kamal Studio happens to be where RK is shooting for his film. When practicing for a dream sequence, RK and Madhu accidentally meet. Both are consternated at their first meet. Madhu scuttles away quickly but she trips. RK concernedly calls out Madhu. Madhu looks back and RK regrets showing concern. He starts being mocking to her.
  3. Madhu is scared...and when director calls aloud fpr heroine's hair-dresser, Madhu wants to go away but RK jeeringly talks to her. In a huff Madhu leaves the place not wanting to work where RK is shooting. On the way out Madhu meets Bittuji and she is upset with him for finding work for her at a studio where RK is shooting. RK sees the two talking, mocking goes away to his vanity van.
  4. A reporter and photographer is waiting for RK to interview him within vanity van. The mocking face of RK changes to frustrated face in the van and he gives a abnoxious interview with every answer, thought, concern being Madhu over his mind. When you watch you will find it interesting with his unhappy poker face. He sees Madhu leaving the studio telling Bittuji that she will not work where RK will be present.
  5. At RK mansion, before Bittuji is able to tell Radhaji about RK and Madhu's meet, RK fearing that Bittuji will give a hopeful picture to his mother, RK paints an abnoxious narrative to his mother about the meeting himself and her ex-bahu. Radhaji is disgusted about RK's boastful antics.
  6. He goes to his room. Starts relaxing with his evening drink along with music. Baahon ke Darmiyaan starts playing. His face becomes grave. There in Chawl, Madhu too gets disturbed listening to the song. She feels tormented and wants to block out the song by covering her ears. She goes to close the door, but doesn't close the door. Here RK feels tormented minute by minute as he remembers his moments with Madhu. He smashes his glass. Then trashes his stereo system. Episode ends
Episode reviews
Another new day. It was interesting to watch the new dynamics. Everything was as expected. Nothing to analyse.
All scenes were good. My heart stopped when that dupatta fell over Madhu and RK...and I actually closed my eyes...crying out...Lillaah...what just happened. Thank God!!! that first time passed for both of them now. When I think of it...I still shiver...
ASIDE: VD as the man, as the boy, how he must be enjoying to smash the glasses with precision. lol
I am bit confused with the scene interpretation that some of you over page 1(have not read all reviews) had when RK was speaking to his mother on the stairs.
The way I interpreted the scene is that...Bittuji saw him talking to Madhu.  So RK, the control freak, the nervous guy, he just doesn't want Bittuji to romp home and start stomping before Radhaji ecstatically expressing to her that Chief and Madhu met today at the studio...Because everyone in the world knows...meeting can be interpreted in various ways...Radhaji's hopes may rise.
And so the guy here, before Bittuji can start his chit chat with his mother,  he himself narrates the incident the way he wants his mother to perceive about the situation.
But yes, I am also confused that why RK did not scold Bittuji for talking to Madhu and finding work for her. I thought he would yell at him. Here in lies my confusion...the way I understood it above and the way he let Bittuji go scot free.
But then than as Angeena referred the song as "parde mein rehne do...parda na uthao"  its confusing to me...but it is best interpreted by me as if RK wants things to be under wraps and so be it. His mother and Bittuji need not read too much into things.
Having said that I seal my lips for now until I talk to Zoya and Preet later in the evening.
Bittuji - RK relationship (Rittuji)
Reconcilation of Studio Track revelations about Rishabh with Rishabh of Revenge Track
Originally posted by anastasia21
Shri, this is to you.
This is regarding your post on Page 1. I am not quoting the entire thing because it might make it difficult for other people to navigate as I'm already gonna type a whole lot. Embarrassed
First of all, superb, excellent, beautiful, awesome - these sort of words fail to describe what I actually felt while reading it. Because your take is always the best. But today, grateful, is what I am. I love Math and it always gives me immense joy when I can make things add up rationally. Like while proving a theorem, its a solid proof if you've providedreasoning for each and every statement. That was the way I felt, when I finished reading your take.  Relieved and Happy. Hope I am not sounding like a lunatic and you get what I'm trying to say.
What I understood, is I had it completely reversed.
Yes, I prefer RK over Rishabh, but that is not because he talks smart, he looks smart and I am a wide-eyed phangirl who can't watch him cosying up to another girl.  But since I am taking this journey through Madhu's eyes, I saw what she saw, I liked what she liked, I felt what she felt. Not literally but in the context of the show. After watching the entire of last week, I thought RK was the driving personality. And that drove me nuts. Because if he is his doing, then what is left there to be salvaged. He had Rishabh (the good one if we were to assume RK as the evil persona) completely subdued in an attempt to protect him (Rishabh) and is the master of his own actions. But it's the other way round. I still don't understand whether RK or Rishabh, who is the more dominant one.
These were somethings that baffled me.
Bittoo ji is the companion of RK, not Rishabh. Although I have never seen Rishabh emerge in front of Bittoo ji, but something tells me Bittoo ji understands, to some extent at least. He, after RK got shot, while thanking Madhu, told her, his chief is a different man, not anybody is capable of understanding him. RK, even though bosses him around, always gave this feeling that he values him, not only as his P.A but also as a companion. But the way RK subjected him to insult when he came back ( disregarding the slap as a heat-of-the-moment reaction ), who was that RK or Rishabh? Because Rishabh doen't have any personal beef with Bittoo ji. Then was it all RK alone? I ask because even though this is about RK/MB lovestory, I believe his equation with everyone who loves him unconditionally brings out another shade of his persona to the surface.
I was actually emotionally down the entire weekend, because I felt hopeless about this. Or maybe it was the other way round. To me, RK became one of those one-dimensional characters who just never grows out of it. Like Dudley, or Crabbe and Goyle from Harry Potter, who actually wants to be a jerk and goes out like a jerk. So I retrofitted the "RK picking Dipali up" gesture as him indulging her advances without sufficient resistance. To me, it said, I'm throwing you out this time, try again next time. Gotta admit, I was not in agreement with you on Saturday on this. But today I am. And I am happy to be refuted. Actually more at peace.
And there is one more thing I made peace with after reading your take. That we can't stereotype human psyche. Each one of us are unique and there's no way of telling who is going to turn out how, even if we are subjected to exact same chain of events. Many lose their parents at young age or go through immense emotional turmoil and have to grow up fast. People do turn out okay. Almost all of us put up a tough exterior in order to deal with day to day emotional ups and downs. So how come RK gets an excuse to be this ruthless in order to protect his inner weaker self over and over. But I am readjusting my understanding. Who am I to think that since people usually turn out to be okay, he should have been too.
Ana,Thank you for the appreciatory feedback. My pleasure because, I like it that way. I wait until it really makes sense to me and then I give back. So yes...for me Hum Hai deewane song threw me off track, but then slowly adjusted into its shoes, but back of my mind was...no this can't be all...the guy Rishabh has not yet revealed  himself...there's more to it.
So what hurt me in the revenge track, was that this guy did not even think, how bad he hurt that girl. I was like, so you are so blackened that you would just kill her as if she was a worm to be squashed. Yes, he was a clinical case...but thing is ...even in real life, it is difficult for us to take some people to psychological counselling because they mask themselves. It doesn't go anywhere.
That is why we have broken marriages with sudden rise of monster head in one of the partners...because marriage is that close relationship, which allows you to vent out your real self in one or the other manner...exposing or total faking...the truth is out sooner or later. Plus...any artist...its easy to know that they can morbidly think if they want to. They are not mathematicians, but very closely twist the mathematics for their own creativity. They are simply brilliant if totally original. Because as artists they break and create themselves. We cannot ignore that and if we are forging relationship with them, we better be prepared to get burned along with them.
Now coming to Bittuji and Rishabh Kundra.
What is their relationship ? 10 years of knowing each other and still Bittuji says, I cannot understand him totally. 10 years of knowing, and RK trusts him and may be loves him even if he does not say it. That slap...I will say it came out of his love for Bittuji...and it was on the spur of the moment under extreme anger at what his friend was saying...that anger was like "why are you making it difficult for me ? Don't you know I married her for revenge ? Don't you know I am like this ?"
I will say, just like with Madhu, Rishabh Kundra had been honest with Bittuji in his dealings. he had shown his RKesque character when harmonic to his surroundings and has shown his Rishabh side when morbidly thinking. Why Bittuji then stuck to him unlike Madhu, who doesn't like the morbid Rishabh. Because friendship is something precious. When you are together through thick and thin (struggle and success), you pretty much accept each other as is. Riishabh Kundra ...an apathetic person, had only family of sorts with Bittuji. That was enough for him to be with his chief. Isn't it some humanity on Rishabh Kundra side to feel empathy for Bittuji and apathy for rest of the world and so stemming that compassionate bond between the two.
What Bittuji has learned over the years is that when RK his chief starts behaving morbidly, he is like ...now I need to do damage control...and he dreads it...like the Party night when he tells Radhaji or Kuku Bhatia...saying Mahabharat ki Tayyari ho rahi hai. He knows destruction is not far away when he sees RK going morbid.
And it seems all his prayers were heard when he saw how Madhu can actually control his morbid mind. And as a friend again he is doing for his sick friend. At the back of his mind, Rishabh Kundra knows. And he too plays with Bittuji efforts like a challenge..."I shall see how much successful you can be to cure me"...and he just keeps silent and watches Bittuji like today.
So for now in the story...the most realistic relationship is Rishabh Kundra - Bittuji, followed by the new one that RK is forging with his mother...(which is best seen through the pictorial comentary that Syl (undisclosed) gave on last Thursday. With Madhu it is realistic, but a lot of it is still a fight with chapters still open...
Hope this helps.
