What does RK actually obsess about ?

After watching Nov 22nd 2012 episode, so I was thinking along these lines because it dawned in my reflections about RK's actual obsession. We all think RK will obsessively want to possess Madhu, loves her and yet will never allow her to confess even if she loves him extremely...

But you know what, the way he felt her presence today even before he saw her, and the way he softly asked her "Biwi tum yahaan set par" upon seeing her in that concerned manner, I gathered that it is not about his obsession to possess Madhu.  It is his obsession not to get deceived. He shall not be deceived and he will not allow anyone to deceive him. 

Why he likes Madhu now, after his logical marriage to Madhu under then circumstances, is because he sees her "golden heart" like Shamsher presented his daughter to him...Meri Nanhi si Bacchi, uska sone jaisa dil, uske chote chote sapne. He saw the golden heart twice when she saved him; once in studio and other time when he was shot. And she took care of him too. 

Why trusts Madhu and hence wants her to be in his life. Because she is trustworthy. And more importantly, Madhu, if she has to fight, challenge or hurt RK, she does it to his face in all openness, whereas hides her good acts from him. RK is also the same. He hides his good acts and he accepts to himself that he is bad and capable of ruthless acts. However, unlike him; Madhu will never employ Machiavellian methods to get back at him should she ever decide that. Madhu has no bone to think ill of anyone. 

Because of these qualities of Madhu, RK in order to preserve himself he would want to cherish Madhu always. But because of his obsessive feelings of never ever to get decieved, he is denying Madhu the happiness of fulfilling her rights to care for RK as husband. Soon in  love, RK may not allow Madhu to confess her feelings, as he wouldn't want him to expect anything from her...as that would be opening doors to allow deception back into his life. This is all in their personal relationship, within their bedroom.

Now, think out of the box, change the setting. Make it Public...under all glare...RK would be happy to romance with Madhu. Why? Because he will not be threatened with his obsessive fear of getting deceived. Everything will be in the open. And if he proposes to Madhu or expresses his affection for Madhu; in his opinion, Madhu will never be able to deny her affection in public...true to her character. So I think, when Love outgrows his obsessive need to protect himself, he may try to look ways to express his love to her in open. May be this is where her becoming the film star will help him. He can openly romance with her without any fear. He will love her as RK, but actually feed Rishabh Kundra's desires through that act...and a point will come when he will need to reconcile RK and Rishabh Kundra with regards to Madhu, as she is the one who will be seeing both personalities at all the times and accomodating both of them through her understanding.

Look, he doesn't have a qualm being fed by her before everyone, but cannot submit himself to her loving eyes when in bedroom; especially if he is in his vulnerable state. We always used to laugh at the PDA acts of Rishbala.

Disclaimer: 

This is just my theory. The way I felt when seeing these dream sequences of either of them. Madhu certainly has the wondering expressions when she dreams...it tells us how much she is repressed in her conscious serious state. RK may want to free up that repressed self in her and at the same time find solace for his conciously suppressed feelings for her when in Rishabh Kundra mode (not RK mode). 

The Artist and the Performer in Rishabh Kundra

Over the Dec 7th Episode as we watch RK redoing Karva Chouth ka Vrat todna at Natraj Studios, we closely observer RK, the Artist and the Performer who is feeling all natural and spontaneous in a surrounding that is quite comfortable to him.

In the earlier episodes, as the sculptor, he seemed formidable man with talents but then that hate passion for Madhu was there and also in the bike scene, he was super arrogant. So he seemed a man of the other world. But today, it was like I was seeing a man, happy in his creative energy and shows us how goes deep into things like why you see a man from the sieve in a KC - the woman's festival. Who would have thought RK knows that !

Celebrating Karva Chouth his Style was good idea. Anyways this is RK. Everything that applies to him and Madhu, he needs to participate, give his 100%. So he gifts the KC gift by re-celebrating it, explaining the sieve in established religion method and practical way of looking at practice. When he was talking about women lifting their ghooghat a bit to see their hubby's ugly faces, I was laughing. I was transported to my sociology class where our lecturer used to go into actual ritual meaning and the practice of it by people. Anyways I liked this KC...It was almost like any rendezous of two lovers with moon as their witness. The customary water from Bisleri and the melted dairy chocolate as a substitute for earthen pitcher and Sweet condiment in the thali, was liked by me.  Madhu might say...RK you are just incorrigible with that humungous ego, that you have to redo it...but then Madhu might also feel. This is so much better than all that waiting and tears and hoping against hope...or may be not. May be she would say that was one ecstacy, this is another one. My two memorable first KCs !!

And then as the night gets rangeen in Biwi's company, RK gets an idea to go for music and just like that he finds a Radio. Guys tell me, do we have radios like that nowadays ? Anyways...so he wants to dance. Madhu inadvertantly goes back to remember her earlier time when RK wanted to dance with her with that gesture of his. However with no hard feelings she accepts the hand in all glee. Seems they both  expected a racy 21st century song...and me too...but out of the blue...God knows which Radio jockey was that...I listen to this UK radio...the Punjabi RJ's play old songs for crowd like me...so out of the blue, Daadiamma Daadiamma  Maan Jaao comes up. And they both start laughing. Aur phir kya honaa hai. Madhu hase aur RK na phase aisa ho sakta yeh kya ?

The Studio is altogether A NEW WORLD for RK. He is just not the one that we see him at his home, residence. For that matter RK did not look the one that he is in RK mansion when he was talking to Shamsher and Padmini in their Chawl.  Is RK then a Peter Pan ? Never happy at home and always going to Neverland ?

RK was very easy flowing and smooth with Madhu in the studio. He was a proud and ecstatic of his achievement for his Biwi, and he kept on showing one after the other his antics. The shine in his eyes reminded me when he was playing the piano, after giving a heart-felt beautiful description of his set for the new film and mentions that his heroine will come from the bridge and Madhu makes the entry. He is just so lost in that visual...of her over the bridge and at that he doesn't stop his performance and he keeps on playing.

Both Rishabh and Madhu were easily giving in to each other through fine performances. And none of it seemed forced. He guided her and she too performed. The KC ritual was the vehicle of actions for them, it was like the script given to them and both of them knew, when to see the moon, when to break the fast thru water, the chocolate and reverse feeding. And soon the act ended and Rishabh wanted to go for next act of dancing, which got foiled with that song, totally throwing them off balance and ticking them off to a real laughter rather than performing for each other. And throughout their act for each other which was delightful to either, they had oodles of chemistry building up between the two. And like good actors, they were controlling their desires and keeping up with repartees in each other's company.

RK - The Superstar vis-a vis RK the Artist

Heard lot of VD interviews. But never I thought of it as real. I think I have been ignoring a lot. VD actually got into the skin of his role and he is performing RK act with a passion. The character RK that I am seeing all these days in Studio, fine I know that he is passionate about his work and seems more balanced here than at his home. But today in Madhu's company when I saw RK, I realized in this MUTE WATCHING that RK the Superstar is not just a Star. He is an ARTIST. And like a true ARTIST he can create and destroy himself to take his creation to the finest level.  

His Muse, His Inspiration - Madhu

He is an actor who acts per the director and writers script given to him. But with Madhu today, he created everything for her, so she was being his inspiration, his Muse. This RK that I saw today...the Happy One, infact seemed quite consuming in his need to create, his zest as a presenter, his ecstacy in seeing happiness in Madhu's eyes...She was his precious audience at that time. RK needed to show his 100% participation, but the set he decorated for her was more than participation, it was like he created everything for her. What if she doesn't like it ? What is his viewers don't like his creation anymore ? Most artists vacillate between being morose and then extremely in high spirits.

Madhu will need to toughen up dealing with this artist husband, who is going to be sensitive, lost in his own mental labyrinths needed for his artistic creation, who feels chaotic about his home, needs to take periodic trips to studio and dreamworld and lose himself. I don't know why, I kept remembering the initial promos where RK asks Madhu to lose herself in this dreamworld.

And Madhu and RK have a lot of chemistry, undercurrents of passion was just showing up. Because, not once I saw Madhu being shy. When she had to control the situation she turned her eyes away from him, but Gosh! she was perfect partner for him today. For such a young girl (as compared to RK's age and his experience), she was a woman with grace and poise. And RK was just liking that as if he found what he had been looking for in his creative world. The way RK was looking at Madhu today in the studio was no different when he saw her first time in the studio and continued playing piano enjoying her in his view.  

Everyone in his daily life is a performer and an artist in some sense. Our creations may not be showcased, but we do create something daily. But what sets the artist that we know as artist...is his passion to consume himself to create something artistic. Ain't I right ?

@SD- OH my God, what a coincidence, all your words above, my thoughts exactly at this very moment. I would have written in my staccato style, not as eloquently as you put it. To add to it:

RK the performer - the artist- I have always felt that not enough attention is given to him as a creative artist...his sculpture, his piano playing, his acting, his dialogues, all of them indicate an extremely creative, highly sensitive artist. Which is why his mood swings somehow make sense to me (I know SBCC will roll their eyes). I have mentioned this earlier, all interviews with star wives  (Jaya B, Suzanne Roshan etc) mention that their husbands need a lot of space, at such times, it is the grounded atmosphere at home that keeps them sane.

And to make my point about RK, Madhu  stimulates him, gives him stability and goes alongwith his madness...Big Boss dialogues, Mr India. In time, she will become his muse.

I always felt that he fell in love with her the first time he saw her on that bridge, and yes, I agree that yesterday, I was reminded of that scene as well.

I don't have any doubts he loves her, but yes, he will always be insecure in love, that will cause more problems for them than anything else.

Madhubala - I loved it that she did'nt appear sickeningly coy, like most soap heroines. She looked at him in the eye, with the same amount of passion that he felt. Even in the car, when he tried a mild threat, 'mera mood kharab ho jayega', she hesitated, but still did'nt get out.And also, for someone who famously said, he does'nt walk behind anybody, I noticed she walked out of the room first, she walked into the studio ahead of him. And he did'nt mind!He did'nt even notice. Oh yes, he is in love, and she wields a great amount of power over him, smewhere justifying the title - MEIIJ. They just don't know it yet.

You know Shri, between your analysis and that of others- this is for KT, Sound, Bhakti and all the great writers on this thread, I feel like a little tugboad among luxury cruisers. Like, what am I doing writing here?

But yes, totally agree with you about RK the Superstar and RK the artist- infact from the beginning we saw hints of Madhu becoming RK's muse from the moment he saw her at the studio- the impromtu piano playing, sculpting her through his injuries etc. Indeed, I would argue that it's RK the artist that drove Rishab's initial obsession with Madhu almost more than RK the Superstar whose ego had been offended. I'm saying this because even after the press conference, when he had basically destroyed her life, RK was still thinking about Madhubala- there was no need to give her a call to tell her what she already knew- he did it because he didn't know how to distangle himself from her. And then he entangled himself permenantly.

This muse analogy is why I think, no matter what happens between RK and Madhu in the future, they will not be able to stay away from each other. Because the current that is between them, the passion, the junoon, is now deeply embedded in their souls. Whatever form their surface emotions take, the need to always be near each other will never go away. Like I've said many time, RK and Madhu's core personas are the same- the selfness that is selfishness in its own way, the egos, the insecurity etc, they have similar personalities. And if Madhu is RK's muse, then RK has placed himself above even Bappa in Madhu's eyes. How can a person stay away from that?

It's almost comforting in its own way, because we know, unlike other serials, whatever happens, whatever he feels, RK will not allow Madhu to be taken from him. 

Also, sorry for the long reply, but I have to say, I adored what you said about Madhu not being coy. I love that about her. So many other soap heroines are always shying away when the moments are passionate, and I'm always like "Could you please be a little more comfortable? I don't feel like I'm watching a romance here. You look unwilling...that makes me uncomfortable."

Seeing Madhu have equal passion, and more importantly, not shy away from it, is a refreshing change.

I had written in my review that dil se taar jud nahi paayi when I saw the episode for the very first time. I could not really pinpoint the reason but when I re-watched the episode y'day night, i realized that RK was so full of life and lively at the studio, which was so unlike his behavior with Madhu/anyone else at home... And today when I came here, your second take washed away all my confusions and now I can say that the episode was superb...

After reading your take, I recalled that RK near the lake-side scene where he had told that "Is duniya mein RK jaisa ek hi insaan hai jo marke bhi zinda hai"... But he becomes alive when he is in front of the camera.. He loses himself into his make-believe world of theatre...  He also said sth about he always wanting to find solace in someone after every betrayal and that after Dipz betrayal, he stopped seeking solace... At that time, i had just taken in what he had said and it is true too... I know what he actually meant by solace but if you view it differently, after all those betrayals, he did find solace,tranquility in his creativity,artistic ability, viz, his parde ki duniya... Ofcourse he was still lonely with no one to cherish him but i think all the events that occurred in his life  gave him the zeal to invest all his energies in becoming the  superstar he is, as you said the artist he has become. He is deep down still a sucker for love and that his superstar status, the thought that the public cherishes him,gives him some kind of consolation...   

I have told that he found solace in his creativity but i did not mean that his creativity would become the healer of his wounds... I just meant that he forgets his pain and loses himself to the pleasure,joy that the realm of theatre offers him...

And you had also told that he was a bit apprehensive if Madhu would like his creation... I guess he was, coz after all his KC drama was played out, at some point he was looking into her eyes  and when she questioned him kya hua, he said kuch nahi and removed his gaze from her...Prolly he wanted to see if his world actually thrills and excites her as much as it does to him and he would have sure found happiness... Madhu's behavior at the studio, was more like tumhare saath main kisi bhi duniya mein khush rahoongi... <---- I am assuming its this coz i don't exactly remember when this gazing sequence came in the scene.. He might have looked at her for some other reason too...

I hope what I wrote made sense... And if it was bakwaas, sorry for the post... I didn't think twice before writing it..

It was fantastic what you wrote of RK- The artist..I just loved loved and loved it...Until now,it never occurred  to me what exactly RK being artistic means but,now I get it...It gives a whole new

dimension to RK and to the way I would perceive his actions and reactions from now on..Rishabala's first encounter seemed so poignant...I tried to make sense of it..but, could never really understand it completely...Now I get it...When RK sees Madhu on the bridge I guess he was spell bound with the perfection...the perfect portrait to what he envisioned...or may be it was even beyond what he thought of and yes, it sent him in to a state of ecstasy,a blissful state of unity that an artist would find with the beauty of creation which in turn would act as an inspiration for their own creations...I could now pretty well see what you mean by Madhu being the muse of RK...the feelings that he feels for her,the different emotions that she awakes in him which he himself is not aware of could very well ignite his creative passion and and he would be at peace only only when he expresses them... through his art..I guess we would have continued to see this if the tracks had not been switched...I just hope cv's won't neglect this aspect of RK's personality and continue with their plan of RK molding Madhu and her being an inspiration to his may artistic creations...it sure would be an enthrilling watch if the cv's take us on the journey through the Artists's soul...I wonder if RK would turn a director too when Madhu is made an actress...that would be interesting than them just being co-stars... Shridevi...I remember you saying how Madhu's beauty comes across to him and how it captivates him...yes,it captivates the artist in him and this along with his feelings for MB stirs his soul and ignites and fuels his passion for creation...Thank you for putting forth this new perspective...I am  too happy at this new revelation for me.

Episode 138  Discussion: 4th Dec 2012

Episode Events

RK comes to break Madhu's fast. Fast and KC Taam-Jhaam completed, Madhu faints, Doctor is called. Doctor puts Madhu on IV drip to rehydrate her and promises to send the blood report later in the morning. The Bhatias are upset and indulge in another round of calling Madhu a Drama ki Dukaan who made RK a Joru Ka Gulaam to keep Rads within their camp. Now I wonder, why are they trying so hard to keep Rads in their camp, when just a moment ago RK awarded them all with Mrs Kuku Bhatia and Performing Arts Nautanki Gang award, which meant basically he did not need Rads in his camp. So was all that drama so Rads does not befriend Madhu. Idiots! Don't they understand that befriending Madhu is all they have as a choice if they can be given a choice! if you ask me. Must watch episode for Rishbala moments, the story, the dialogues, the acting, the Fun and the overall entertainment.

Episode Review

So without a doubt episode gets an A. Right ?  The CVs are having the last laugh on us today for telling them how they are being slow and all. If this much of build-up was not done, would we have enjoyed the show? as much as we enjoyed today ?

Its going to be a long one...because I just wrote it in all remembrance of the episode with pleasure. Not much of an analysis, but wrote like I wanted to remember this.

I. Kuch Mat Boliyega, Bittuji, Mera vishwaas Nahin tootega

Madhu sees his tears and asks Bittuji to not say anything. Its like she did not want an ounce of negative energy from her well-wishers. So she asked him to not to say anything at all. She is already into the Deewani Phase with complete conviction in something she believes in.

Anyone who had doubts about Madhu's junooni love for RK, his doubts are dispelled now with the song played to express her psyche now. Beautiful !

Liked it how RK remembers her beautiful empathy filled eyes for him when she was correcting the collar as he looks at the jacket. Liked it that he did not decide to go back to her remembering her pain in the same jacket scene, although I would not have minded it. But it goes to show that RK in his utter honesty towards his wife's Karva Chauth ka Vrat, did not go back to her as a human feeling towards the pain she was undergoing with the ill-health, but rather was going back to her because her empathy, warm regard for him beckoned him to her. The wife should get back her husband and so RK decided to go back to his wife to complete her vrat. Liked how RK also realized that he too has to submit to Madhu considering her belief, her junoon is as equal to God beckoning him to relent. All by the end of the song...Yahi Ishq ki Marzi Hai , Yahi Rabb ki Marzi hai

How poignant was that ?!

Her wonderment at her own belief coming true, that indeed He is there in front of her.

Her happiness that, indeed he had come to break her fast.

Her gratitude that inspite of his own principles, he came back just for her.

There was depth indeed in how she understands her husband and how she delves in to know him in all totality. And he had to say that...There were only two Ziddi, Him and God and how come She joins their league now.

II. The sense of humour that binds Rishbala and explains the Bhatias.

The Bhatias

Humour. The humours of our life that let us express ourselves and get going with our lives. We also call it humouring ourselves from our daily grind to live through it. The Bhatias have their own sense of humour to get going in their daily ups and downs. When their faces fell upon the defeat that Madhu's 40% husband has indeed come, they draw out another weapon in form of humour from their kitty. They indulge in yet other mockery of the husband and wife. According to Dips Bhatia, energy to keep a fast comes when one is 7 phero waali Biwi like her and not a 4 phere waali Biwi like Madhu. LOL !!! She cannot stop that chanting that right ? Even when RK came to finish his wife's vrat. She never will stop.  And the Joru ka Gulaams sitting at home doing nothing, have awarded RK with a new title Joru ka Gulaam. RFOL!!!

So basically, who are they humoring ? Themselves or us ? At each defeat they convince themselves in their make-believe that they are still the residing judges to judge RK and his Biwi for their actions. Bin Bulaaye Mehmaan doing Ulti Ganga Bahe such as Ulta Chor Kotwaal ko Daante.  Besharmi Ayyashi Jab Had se bad jaati hai, Woh din door Nahin, jab Woh Apna hi Mazaak banaane pe Majboor ho jaayen. Sings who ? Sings Shridevi. Cool!!!  That happened to the Bhatias when they entered RK's room just to show their presence as courtesy requirement. They got rewarded with RK Sense of Humour.  It was at doorstep when the Doctor said, Mein Kal Subah Blood report Bhejta hoon. The blood report is going to show what toxicated Madhu's stomach. We are actually going to see when Deepali again tries to get at Madhu...as shown in the Precap scene. Apne hi mooh ke bal giri. Khwaab mein bhi na socha hoga aisa uska sach baahar aayega. RFOL!!!

Rishbala

I am more interested to talk on RK and Madhu's sense of humour and how much it binds them close. He tries to be cynical. And she is such an open slate. His sarcastic humor is always registered by her and she answers him in her simplicity with all directness. She may not be joking and entertaining as RK, but when she answers him, she always travels all depths over his sense of humour in any context and returns the repartee in equal jest-filled manner. It touches RK in every way giving him a thrilling excitement...almost close to him being bamboozled by her. He is always taken aback by her the way she reads him. And what amazes him is that she rarely tries to show off. And this feeling...this deception of Madhu...her coming out in surprise package in her repartees, always erodes his cynical cover. And both are still happy to keep the pretence of him being the sarcastic guy and she as just as any naive girl who can be bull-dozed by RK. I must say high regard for each other's intellectual capacities. Actually this is where RK likes to romance with his wife. He is so proud of her in those moments. VD reflects RK's pride for his child-like wife in these moments perfectly. The spark in the eye, the tiny meeny movement of the jaw, the lips...the face looks like it just swelled in huge pride for his wife.

If anyone did not understand where did all that happen in the episode or what is the reference to context...it is all Madhu and RK interaction...Taam Jhaam, Madhu's expressions, RK's actions, jhoot bologi...karele ka juice...Senti, Main RK hoon. Apne Udhaar bhi Aphe upar nahi rakhta, Phir tum kya cheez ho Biwi, AaHaanh !, Utna tez to chal raha hai ki tumhaari Dil ki baat samajh sakoon, Karzaa Utaar rahe ho, Madhu-lisa...

The increasing Intimacy of knowing in terms of body language

Did you see all the ceremonious completion of the Vrat. How RK was unconfortable. He wanted to see her, but was so shy. And she sensed his discomfort and yet finished her act, especially the "Tikaa lagaana" and she was even openly smiling. Madhu's smile never stops when she is adoringly looking at RK. And superliked when RK did not allow her to touch his feet to take his blessing. That was so good. Seriously it is not even required when the wife is gifting her present to her husband through her prayers to God.  And that ssshh Kuch Nahin hoga tumhe...it was more for himself rather than her. And why did he take her to his side of bed ? He did see her Mehndi and finally the gushing warmth for her when he touches her face in her sleep. Earlier he could not keep his hands for long as Biwi was awake but later in sleep, he feels her "stupid" wish of keeping vrat for him in such an endearing manner as if he was trying to take away all the tears she must have shed during the day when he yelled at her. 

And today Madhu actually said the same thing that once AA mentioned here. He presents her the greatest torment and yet gifts her the greatest happiness.  

They always manage to create their own pvt world even as they live and spend their moments right in front of Bittuji and the unwanted Bhatia Clan. And this is through their passion expressed through their eyes, hands and the way they speak to each other, both verbal and non-verbal expression. When Radhaji enters the room...Madhu senses the growing agitation and tension in RK and tries to restrain him. He just lifts his forefinger and warns her to stay out of it. He couldn't be soft to her with the surging anger towards the clan. Did you see how he shirked her hand away?  And he bull-dozes the unwanted clan in his room. I mean how much they have started to understand themselves with body movements.Loved how he kept her hand in his hand so that he does not miss a single twitch of hers in his sleep.

The language of the Super-Star

Mrs Kuku Bhatia and Performing Arts Nautanki Gang

I liked how the show creatives have created an RK who does an actor-showtime-filmiduniya speak. He is always comparing real life situations to movies scenes or film-world dynamics. The way he said...Bittuji, bring all the awards and present this clan with Best Mother, Best Actress in a Supporting Role etc. They added even the Colors GPA, Best Bhavuk Personality...

It was funny to see RK's beard in varying sizes over the entire length of the episode. Sometimes it was clean, sometimes it was stubble. I did not like when Madhu calls out "Maa". Was that even needed Madhu ?

My take over the episode

Wow! Will rate it with an A. 

Episode starts with where it ended yesterday and RK telling her he can never let any bitterness affect her soul, as he wouldn't ever want that for his worst of his enemies and she is his wife to take care. Madhu is overwhelmed by RK's kindness. It is beyond any gratitude to be expressed and can only accept in resignation. 

The song beautifully expressed her recognition of his kindness that is so overwhelming that she is left with no choice but to surrender herself to him in all reverance for she sees God in him.

Dominant expression was the shringara mood of the episode. I liked the entire length of RK-MB's screen time together. From the lakeside, in the car, in the bedroom and in the morning...everything.

RK needed time to recover from his agitated mind post revealing Madhu everything about his scarred soul with deception. For a man who started knowing "Umeed is nothing but zeher", when Madhu starts showing that hope for kindness and healing in her eyes, RK steels himself to not fall into that trap of going by heart. For him seeking her support and kindness is surmountable to being weak and this he could never let it happen. When in room, he consumes alcohol to put himself to rest. And he asks Madhu not to give him any pincer looks at his behavior. He also decides to sleep on the couch instead of the bed to avoid her concerned glares.

I liked RK's registerating mood of Madhu's response towards him. And in the same manner I liked Madhu's accomodative manner and giving in mood towards RK with all her understanding of him but with the attendent clause of arrest at straying behavior (that of drinking to ease his agitated mind and him going away from the bed to couch to avoid all kinds of contact with Madhu), showing a certain amount of censure to him. She was being unobstrusive to him about her presence without failing to be expressive of her notice of his actions. It was certainly becoming a wedge to RK, securing him to something...Commendable.

And the best moments between the Rishbala are:

When she walks to the car and sits in resignation in that overwhelmed state as he sat already and won't talk to her. And he noticing her resignation and not being responsive to his call, he himself helps her, puts on the seat belt for her. Overwhelming Silence and probably pounding heart for both of them which might have given a lot of disquiet to each of them.

When he keeps noticing her bent eyes towards him, giving him all the privacy, all the space and yet being available to him for company in unobstrusive manner. He doesn't skip an opportunity to be mean towards her kindness, but he couldn't be mean as he wanted to. This behaviour reminded me of his sulking nights during Bappa track and the studio morning... the hospital morning and the morning after his return to home.

When she is scared to be caught by him as she covers him with that coverlet and yet forgetting herself and caressing his hair and reminding herself not to touch his cheek and yet take the pleasure of imaginatively doing it for him. She is so pleased to take care of him.

When he notices what she did for him, how alertful she is about his habits and being all careful in not getting caught while taking care of him and finally how she was able to repose peacefully in the happiness that he had slept off. It meant something to him, his peace giving her that smile on her face.

And I can't stop mentioning another scene...when she asked you got ready so early in the morning, he did not refrain from informing her that he needs to get away. How transparent was that...Wow!

Rest of the drama was all fun...I discard the 40 lakh cash drama, but taunts from Dipali, I will let them stay. I did not like Padmini's long palla like a saree draped by nowadays young women. What's with that long palla anyways, how are the ladies even going to work with that long palla. And I so wished that Sikky had forced himself on Dipali in their bedroom. I so wished to see her go "paagal". 

Padmini

I liked Padmini coming to check on Madhu. As a mother, it is her duty to her daughter and her wedded family to make that darshan. Unthinkable and unpardonable action has been committed for which Madhu will never be forgiven...Her daughter is going to be the target of her father's actions. So Padmini should come and check on her.  I liked that part very much. She was being mannered and protective also. If that drama leads her to take away Madhu with her, no problem at all. Because every action has a reaction ...Consequences have to be borne.

Liked how Padmini kept on answering back to Dipali and was just pleading with Radunce, her peer. Thank God! CVs paid attention to Padmini's dialogues and her body language and eye speak. Else there were chances they could have messed up while creating a melodrama.  

Padmini is one beautiful character, closer to Rishabh Kundra than Madhu in the nature of troubles she faced and is the epitome of loyalties towards societal institutions like marriage, motherhood. She can be explored further...unfortunately she is not the heroine. RK listening to that drama from above was good...He knows his Saasuma as self-respecting woman, she had disliked him initially, later prayed for his life, but it was certainly an opportunity here for him to see what his saasuma intended to do for Madhu by coming to her sasuraal. My only wish RK's mahaanta is not glorified types tomorrow, and it looks all reasonable if he happens to defend Padmini...

It is liquor. Why the disbelief when Madhu clearly said Sharaab ?

And yes, RK, even now can take alcohol if he is not distracted enough to sleep peacefully in the night. It will be totally out of character for the man NOT TO DRINK just because he opened up to Madhu now. Before Madhu, alcohol was his partner and soother. Old habits die hard. I was happy when they showed him trying to take alcohol when during Ganapati track he was unable to sleep with all kinds of memories. Then happy times (just 4 to 6 days if we track the time) started and so no alcohol. In between he had a delirium in the hospital.  

Now this single day of Malik getting arrested was too long and too strenuous on his nerves...since daybreak, how many things he had to manage...so many fights, dramas and finally opening himself before Madhu's straight questions...For God's sake, the guy is not even fully recovered.

Give some space to the man... girls!! Overnight you want him to heal, want him to become Madhu's loverr, beau etc. The guy is just any other guy...trying to heal himself in his own manner.

He is licking his own wounds away from glares...and here it happens to be his wife. Atleast this time, unlike the studio exit/RK mansion entry, he did not misbehave with Madhu, atleast he did not  jerk her away like he did in the hospital. He was all in decent developments, answering her, getting away but in a open communicative manner with soft tones rather than completely closing himself. Just give the man his due time...At this rate of unrest in the thread...I would like to go and rest myself somewhere enjoying what they are showing.

I can only explain you by telling you about myself.

When I went through my ending of first marriage...failing in every manner for me

I did not allow my family to reach me in any manner, when I was on my rebuild path. They used to literally get scared of me and yet worried for me. And I was like, I give a damn about you all...first things first, let me take care of myself. I used to stay alone then in Delhi, working...I rarely wanted to talk to them. Kept only in touch with material facts of mundane life...that everyone is well and no one is dead...sort of when Dad used to give once in a while update. I don't remember if I talked to my mother...My mother is strong too...she loves us extremely, but if she knows that kid is hurting and wants time and space, she gives it all. Probably that's how she got sick...keeping all that away from me...with all that turmoil...I did not feel anything when Mom got sick and hospitalized. When Dad was ill..again no feelings.

That period of hurt and healing took two years...where I had stripped myself of emotion and I did not want anyone's support...coz it was being weak according to me. Then, when Mom's sickness increased, I decided to go back to them in Hyderabad. By that time, because of my employment, my confidence was improved. I had taken a certification, which I passed with good marks, and I had taken up lot of professional extra studies in my free time. Basically dealing with customers at office, colleagues and boss interactions all helped into churning out the NEW Shridevi. I was confident, with clear voice...I was even amazed at myself. I could even fight with my boss. Such no nonsense character I had become with full of fire.

Sister tells me that change in me...she never liked. I told her its survival. One needs to change and reposition oneself. She could never understand. And these days as she goes through her low phase, she gets the right answers for her turmoil and needed strength from me.

When I had returned to my parents to take care of mom (at the request of my Dad in secretive manner so that Mom's esteem was not hurt), I just came as a daughter to take care without any emotion. However, when I saw my weak mother strutting towards me on station platform to receive me when I alighted from the train, the sight just arrested me. It melted me. I did not get teary, I did not hug them...those days, never used to allow anyone to touch me... I just looked on..at her without smile and just asked why did you come? She was full of beaming smile. So was Dad. That sight stayed in my memory...I erased it too ..to some extent so that I cannot remember what they did to my mind...but still I retained a part of that memory. That's what I call...subjecting yourself that you don't want to completely lose your old self...since it also means something to your family and your friends. They too have a hold on my life. So for them I slowly started controlling my fire...and another year of stay with them, healed me to become normal..another year from there allowed me to feel happy for people around me...

When I had loving people around me, I had so much apathy in me...when RK has no one around him from his previous life who could love him...then how does the need arise for him to stop on the path that he is treading. He happened to meet this woman who shows him hope...its not that he will pakdo her palla on day2. It will take time.

Ever read Crime and Punishment ? Remember the Siberia days of Raskolnikov and how he shuns Soniya his only hope...so much that he gets sick and finally comes to terms with her when she gets sick. Its takes time guys!  It takes time when the fight is all about one's existential question and not just a petty problem to deal with.

Episode Events

Madhu revels in new found love realization for RK. She dances with him in gay abandon in one imagination, followed by another, where she voices her feelings to RK and tells him that she loves him. And in reality after those two imaginations, Madhu just confesses to herself, but keeps looking at RK adorably. RK is puzzled by her lost and smiley looks. He is pleased and scared as well at this change.

My take over the episode

Beautiful episode and Visual treat for a Friday. Gets an A from me.

Madhu is a goner ! And RK realizes that Biwi pagla gayi hai, but he doesn't know the reason yet. 

Because RK can never imagine even in his wildest thoughts that his Biwi can fall in love head over heels with him. All along he thought he was attractive enough to doze her senses off and that she would be lost sooner than later in him, but  never could he have thought his sherni Biwi can put aside her dislike and all seriousness just so soon and can love him like this...if he happened to know that Biwi has actually fallen for him ! Probably this self-assured  knowledge of her when it was belied at the end of the episode, he was as scared as a mouse. That was the his couch reaction for us and himself. Boy O Boy he was literally scared to see his Biwi in that love besotted eyes, who no longer seemed the person he knew until yesterday afternoon.  Damn Cute !!!!

And Madhu...Girl O Girl...She was taking flights on flights. Finally the CVs made justice to her character today. Seemed they worked hard on the scene. They gave her the right dialogues and justified her "nanhi si bachchi, sone jaisa dil , uske chote chote sapne" character. Like a baby (read innocent), she was lost in her dreams and like a baby she was so true to her heart-felt emotions. She was so transparent in what she was thinking. Her affection, her love, her desire shown in such an unreserved manner in that imagination. And what was brilliant was that she visualized RK in the same manner, to the exact extent she knows him for. She imagined his tease, his touches, his twirls, his sardonic temper and yet the patient handling of her. She even begged him not to say NO to her love and in her imagination, she made him stay quiet; not allowing him to say no, but also knowing he will not say yes, but accomodate her anyways. Cute.

It was Madhu's episode all in all. In her love lorn state, she teased her husband, if he goes to the same doctor LOL. RK must have started getting the scares from that point...He was pleased that Biwi was smiling, but it was way too wierd for him and he bothered not to find out and just steered clear of her. LOL

Madhu's imaginations ...both times were very beautiful. The theme of red and white...with red igniting the passion, she did imagine a passionate sequence with her hubby. And at the end of it...just like the starry sky and white and blue canvas as backgrounds, it further deepens her thoughts and shares with him on how she danced with him in her previous dreams when she had not even met him. So damn cute ! So earnest.

Cut to their room...she is again lost...but with all those dark shades, Madhu's imagination gets touched up with reality and therefore a more assertive Madhu, who now understands that she had fallen in love with her husband. This time she imagined him to love her, reciprocate her in an assertive manner, the way she would want him to caress her. She made him touch her cheeks, hold her hands, had vigorous moments...and finally her desire to confess took control of her mind. In her imagination, she not only confessed with a decent foreplay from his side, she made him respond to her the way she wanted him to do it for her. Beautiful.

And finally the reality...him being actually in the room...she hides her face, unlike the studio imagination where she continued to look at him, answer him back. Now after her second imagination, she matured enough to hide her face and not answer him and instead chose to confess her feelings for real to his scare-crow appearance. LOL.

Best part I loved about Madhu was that SHE KNOWS that her husband does not smile. And so she gave him serious face all the time in her imagination. At the same time, she did not let his sarcasm filled face appear in her imaginations. The girl has then clearly shown to us that she is falling for Rishabh Kundra in totality (The combo of RK and Rishabh Kundra).

Madhu as the character is beautiful. I wonder, why her outer beauty is not explicitly mentioned. Only her inner beauty is touted. I know RK likes her outer beauty and that's why he terms a good chemistry between them, likes it, but he is more helpless with her inner beauty.

I liked how, the spots around the sets, came to MB, called her Bhabhiji and offered coffee, tea. People always like a good looking couple. And last time they all saw MB on the sets was when she challenged RK that she will BBB him, and him throwing a fit when she was leaving the set without his permission. Last association of the couple they had was when they come out of studio with him holding her in his arms. Now they are seeing her after a long time and already...Bhabhiji  I guess, people always genuinely like a good looking couple.

Technically also a Beautiful episode

Why ? The scene at the studio was good. 

Its been a long time on Daily Soaps to see such dream sequences.

The studio scene with Red themes over White background, followed by Blue and Starry Sky was a visual treat for me. I enjoyed the colors and that dancing. 

Within the room, Madhu was at her best. God! finally CVs paid attention to Madhu and only Madhu. The girl so away from Geet kind, pleased me. Very much. DD acted very well. 

The couch scene was also beautiful...but didn't like the forgetfulness between the shots. one side of shot has him with coverlet on and other side doesn't have the coverlet on.

I wanted to pay attention to VD's acting over the romantic scenes, but I could not spread my antennae in his direction. I sensed that he was comfortable...but all the time, I would start focussing on Madhu and DD again. I will watch later for his acting...though this imagination...he will not be in his character. In the real scenes, RK was again being in his character. 

By Doves - towards technicality

Guys, one other thing I liked about the episode was how they captured the shooting set buzzing with activity behind/around RK and Madhu when the cameras were focussing on them. The movie crew were busy doing their work. People walking around setting up things for the shot, mounting and angling the cameras for the next shot, men in front of the monitor watching the rushes, spots helping and moving around, actors rehearsing or touching up makeup, etc. The cotton depicting the white snow also was quite discernible giving the picture of how the shots are prepared for and taken. I liked how they captured the movie crew working at the backdrop. It seemed natural and in sync. Keeping with such details make the whole scene more authentic and in character of the show.

Understanding RK's Ishq and Junoon for Madhu

A clue to understand RK.  

The line from his song best describes him ...Duniya se hum Begaane

He has apathy for Rishabh Kundra's weakness. He is obsessed never to let himself get deceived. He believes that he has managed to stifle/kill Rishabh Kundra's heart (need not be totally true...its like approaching zero in differentiation style - from mathematics) and that everyone around him loves his superstar image and also afraid of him. He believes that he has distanced himself off the world so much that he is no longer part of it in ordinary sense and instead controls it in his way.

His emotional inadequacy is being compensated by his rational reasoning. So all the more its going to be pain felt on both sides. The problem will not be that both will not want to love each other or be loved by the other. Problem is always going to be over the timing and expected emotional or rational response getting frustrated.

Why would RK marry Madhu and still choose to be with her inspite of her father trying to kill him and him actually losing all hate for her ? I guess, he wants to control the "falling in love" process for either of them. He has his own timings in his rational world. Just that Madhu is once again challenging that. She is frustrating his timing of that. And he is back to that old RK, with his antennae and tentacles out, mentally thinking over the new challenge that Madhu is becoming.

RK wants a controlled response from MB which would suit him with him being prepared. And MB once again on that challenge path, which I wanted her to embark on. I love her for it. She can easily control him...and the Karva Chouth track is going to show him and us, her stubborn streak in winning over him, which RK won't be able to deny in submitting himself to her wishes.

This was day one when RK saw Biwi like this, so lost and in dreamland. Soon he will realize wherefore those expressions are coming from...provided Madhu doesn't hide her state. But going by Madhu's second imagination and the couch scene, I believe Madhu will equally be determined not to show him so soon that she loves him. She knows him too well to risk exposing her thoughts unless she is all prepared to face the music ...in her Hauslon se veer chanting style.

In my opinion...he can come back to bed...once he gets comfortable around Madhu. In studio, he was almost getting comfortable with her smile, but he also realized that something around Madhu did not seem right. So one more night...but then it was not necessary at all. This is CVs story...going wrong...Normally RK, in today's case; would have slept in the bed. Seems CVs are planning a track solely to get him back to bed as they are running out of festivals after Diwali ...And the pillows line is looking ridiculous now. Seems only the CVs are happy about it and they forget that rest of the world including Madhu and RK find it wierd to be lined up like that.

Towards the title of the post " Love for RK - Not weakness but Strength", let me add some of my thoughts towards Madhu.

Madhu is best known by her Hauslon se Veer Hoon, Sankaton mein Dheer hoon attitude. That positive thinking and stoic attitude comes only if one is grounded in some beliefs, which need to kept burning in her. Time and again, she is close to losing her "Dheer (tolerant, calm, poised, unfeeling state)" state as she gets rudely shocked. Once this weak Madhu had asked Bappa to replenish herself with her fuel (her faith). She asked Bappa to return RK to life. When her belief in her father was uprooted in a most outrageous manner, she lost her dheer state once again, her identity... and had to fall back on RK for support, for replenishment of faith in herself despite of loss of identity as given by our parents. Of course, she had her mother too, but belief was restored by RK.

Just going by her innate character that she has, how can she not fall for RK, who upholds her place in his life, protects her from all animosities, fills her with what she needs most,  belief in herself, in good, faith in love, provides her the fuel to burn bright, the way her innocent smile lights up everything.

You are right. She too has that junooni streak for RK. She always had that caring streak for everyone. However now it happens to be RK, a man who showed her twice what it is to lose a poised state of mind, how it feels to be broken in belief...through him almost being at death's door, him being attacked by her father, a man who showed, how he has already lost it and would not want no one to mete similar fate, let alone her, his Biwi. How can she even falter now on the path of commitment that she would tread on after having reinstated by him so. It is nighly impossible piece of information to ignore. 

Only junoon beats another junoon. So her underlying need to be veer, dheer, bheer, balveer will always guide her to love and support RK in that junooni fashion with her sense of commitment and the love she has for him...like you said once in your own words...crossing rubicons...

If that was about her need, her existential character, what about the other fuel that RK feeds her for her to take flight with wings of love ? Yes, we need to understand her Ishq equation with RK. Contrary to forum views (majorly), I maintain that RK was the first to fall in love with Madhu. It has been shown in his halluciantions when Madhu was away from him, staying at her maayka in the changed relationship. (To clarify, according to my understanding, the revenge game ended with end of studio track.) Now, time has come for Madhu to realize the same and imagine her longing for him and his company. But how come these two fell in love, inspite of themselves ? I will say, it just happened with the beauties they saw in each other and they couldn't help being mesmerized by each other and before long they started enjoying the responses.

I once wrote this earlier. Not wanting to spend much time in re-paraphrasing, I am just pasting a portion here. Hope you don't mind my lethargy..  The post is to tell, that Madhu's beauty attracts RK enough to forget his Rishabh Kundra complex to shun love from his life. Isn't that interesting ? Everything about her attracts him enough to want to protect her always in his care and at the same time play with emotions, just to seek the pleasure of her response towards him...like the recent pinning her to the wall amidst the high voltage situation they just came out from...

Madhu's beauty

Btw, I never said it explicitly. Hope we all agree that Madhu's beauty actually is a show-stopper for RK Express.  Don't you think so ? Madhu might appear all angry, proud, stubborn, caring and all that before RK, however Rishabh Kundra is not excited with those traits of Madhu. He hardly cares as he has plenty of it in himself. What he likes is how those traits emotionally flare up Madhu and how her beauty comes across to him forcing him to stop in his tracks and just look at her. Basically its likes a bumpy accident to his smooth driving. 

That's how he has changed so much in Madhu's company. True to story's plotline, Madhu's beauty captivates him in all senses. The storyline doesn't require Madhu to be intelligent. The plot requirement is for her to be extremely honest and wearing her heart on her sleeve. In process of experience she may stop being so transparent, but her first time reactions are always going to be naive and straight from her heart. And this will gradually lead Rishabh to want her in his life. He is a superstar. He needs to have a gilb tongue to get through his everyday life. It must be such a relief to talk to someone where he doesn't need to act being worried for pitfalls in the process.  But just her honesty, transparency would never have been enough to attract a man like RK to bond with her and marry her, even if it was a game in the beginning. He needed to be mesmerized by her. And Madhu...she sort of would have been a blonde belle and happily settle down where her mother would have wanted her to settle down, had it not been for RK. The way Madhu was shown enjoying the movie, there is so much of unexplored and unrequited childhood desires in her.

Worries going away

If you ask me, Shamsher as the wonderful father in adopted sense and not in biological bonding sense has already given her a SKEWED outlook on daughter's duties. She is constantly burdening herself with the weight of her gratitude to the man who became her father and in process though wanting to call him papa, calls him MAALIK ; quite different from her mother's MALIK.  Its too much of baggage. Its now a good development that Shamsher's flaw will let her shed some of that weight. 

Little by little as she gets free-er, we will start to see the true Madhubala.  With Trishna around at her home, she became the elder sister around even when she was younger to Trishna. Now RK has no one else than her to pamper. He is no Trishna and no Shamsher where Madhu should feel the weight of gratitude. She is actually much free in RK's place. 

RK's shifting to couch and Madhu not asking RK to comeback to bed

Madhu understands RK's withdrawal, therefore she is not asking. What you have to notice is that, she crossed her knowing state and in the experienced state is doing what she wants to inspite of his withdrawal.

She saw his first  agitated withdrawal, when out of studio and when inside building lobby near the lift, told her "Aise mat dekho mujhe". Here she was surprised and stubborn why the man would not allow her to talk, express her gratitude.

She gradually understood it as his need for privacy. She honored that in hospital in his delirious and waking state.

Then over lakeside, she again noticed his agitated response at her emotional response...He was saying "Madhu Ghar chalo" This time, she was too distraught to fight with him, so she just resigned herself and wanted to first take care of her. And so sits in that state in the car, doesn't care to put on the seat belt (I am sure she heard him), and he just helps her out, and she takes her opportunity and talks to him through her eyes. 

That's her stubborn streak and that she will not stop just because he feels uncomfortable. What is beautiful here is first she resigns and when he cares for her, she is moved enough to come out of her resignation and do what she first intended to do. Seriously ...how can only he reserve the right to care if he just wants to shun her caring of him...so the fire in her. This you can understand from the scene when he was re-bandaging her wound and talks about keeping wounds covered, she grabs the opportunity to express her regret at having used the photographs.

When back in their room, he again says. "Don't look at me like that". She knows what he means and so she is fast enough to gather what she has to say. So basically she was showing her experienced handling of him when he is in that vulnerable state. Infact I wrote about this in my post the other day...that how she was observant of his actions and showing him her censure at couple of things she didn't like that night...his drinking and his sleeping on the couch...but on both counts, she understood why he did that and gave only mild reactions. And another thing RK has come to know that Madhu gives him his space to a threshold level set by her. Beyond that she becomes a Sherni. He knows that.

A while ago, I had felt this.

They will love each other in their own manner - Ishq

And they have their own junoons.

Ishq - 

• RK's ishq is caring and being possessive about MB. There's certain level of deewanapan in the way he's after her. Be it to show his smirks or making his peremptory demands, its his expression of admiration for her, attraction for her and the desire to be in her company. Cluelessly enamoured royal tiger...I may as well be shameless and say seems in perpetual heat when around MB.
• MB's Ishq - Am guessing that it too will be possessive like RK. And her ishq so far has an expression of giving spontaneous response to RK's any kind of act. She just can't stop reacting to him. Cluelessly affected by him. She is angry, child-like, demanding, puppy-faced, looking teased and a royal queen.

Junoon - 

• Rishabh's junoon is to hide away under his mask or be a recluse in his cave. His junoon is also to conserve his Super Ego. Those who strike it, they are GONE! That's why MB has been the target. She questioned his thought-process, his way of living.
• Madhu's junoon is to fight for others cares without any thought for her. She goes to insane limits. Take the case of Mukund, Shamsher Malik... and now it is RK and her standing up to restore his faith in his friend and care-taker Ganesha'.and soon a day is going to come when she will decide to take care of Rishu, when she understands that Rishabh's way of living is not a living but a coping to live through'..her eternal fight with Rishabh.
