Episode 177 Discussion: 24th Jan 2013

Padmini-Shamsher ki shaadi mein Ballu deewana.  Balraj Hungama Starts in RK Action Film. 

Events of the episode
  1. Roma is caught by Balraj and held captive by his men at Ratna Studios. Balraj and his men then leave the premises to attend Padmini-Shamsher's wedding. At the chawl, everyone is getting ready for the marriage in peace as Roma has told them that she will reach the marriage venue by herself after running the errands that she set out to finish.
  2. Trishna and Madhu are dressed and then later get Padmini and Shamsher ready for the marriage. Padmini and Shamsher as the Dulha-Dulhan look great. Must watch seen. See the poster below by Zorica, how the daughers are getting the mother ready and how the bride and groom look beautiful.
  3. The daughters and the parents reach the marriage venue over City outskirts. Cannot describe the set. People need to watch the episode to check the set creation and decoration. The 4 Bhatias reach the marriage venue in another car. Madhu receives them. There are no other Baaraatis except the close family members. Only workers present at the venue, who later are shown to be as thugs of Balraj who have tied up real workers.
  4. Madhu then tries contacting Roma and RK who are the only ones missing from near family. Wonder why Bittuji is not present. Roma is unreachable. But RK calls her. Madhu discloses to RK that her mother was apprehensive as she dreamt that the Shaitan is back to avenge himself. RK asks her to tell all and ends knowing that Madhu's real dad's name is Balraj Singh Choudhary, who is none other the producer he appointed for producing Trishna's movie. 
  5. Here at the Mandap, Balraj comes dressed as the Dulha himself and takes everyone as hostage to his drama. Shamsher, who had set out to protect Padmini is helplessly tied in ropes when he relents to Balraj's threat of shooting  down Padmini.

Action drama continues in RK Action Film of his Saasuma-Sasurji marriage. :)

A grand Shaadi ka Venue arranged WITH NO BAARAATI from bride or groom's sides. Very Private Ceremony with close relatives only. Why O Why? Because RK is a superstar and everything related should be away from Public eyes. That's one explanation I can give to a lavish set minus none of Padmini and Shamsher's close friends absence from the mandap, including their close friend Sudhakar or Divakar from the chawl. The other reason could be that Venue had that grand set up for Balraj and his Baaraat. 

Roma is ambushed just as I expected. What purpose she has now. Well she is left and Bittuji is left. So I guess these two are the ones who will bring the Police later on.

Padmini and Shamsher as the Dulha-Dulhan were really looking beautiful. Kala teeka laga doon taaki koi nazar na lage. Sigh!!! Madhu and Trishna did not think of and see Balraj ki buri Nazar lag gayi. :(  But the way Padmini and Shamsher looked at each other at the car, awesome. I liked it very much. Later when Shamsher went to defend Padmini, that anger was pleasure to watch. 

So the dream has a significance attached. Hmmm! everything gets attached ti RK. So BSC sent flowers to Trishna at his residence because he can know Trishna is hiding about heroine offer. Now Padmini dreams about BSC so that Madhu can tell RK about Balraj and RK can know how they have landed in soup....Hmmm!! Chalo I will take it in the name of entertainment.

And why were Trishna and Madhu not pulling Balraj's (the unknown man's) hands off their mother when he was touching her face, instead of shouting their lungs out. Such a filmy scene...yelling and doing nothing because they have to wait for hero to rescue the damsels in distress. They just need to yell more in challenging dialogue deliveries.

And the most interesting character of the day was SIKKY. Wohooo!!!! (Let's party !!!) He called Dips..."You are also a Chawl-waali" and I brought such an expensive Baaraat to your Chawl. He also called his father that he can find kinship in Padmini and Shamsher as they too are getting remarried like you and Mummiji. LOL!!!  It was hilarious and soothing for me to listen to his verbatim. Dips and Kuku never expected that.

Again I enjoyed the episode. Emotionally I was involved, until Sikky made me LOL and then I again quitened down only to raised heartbeats after Balraj started giving all eerie feelings with that no-talk barging in inebriated condition. It was enough to send me shiver down the spine...making me think from groom and bride standpoint...what is the meaning of this ??? My heartbeat actually raised around the same time, Shamsher's face changed...when he senses something really out of place. His pleasant face changed to panic face.

Justification of 25 lakhs spent for the high voltage drama
And as for the lakhs spent in the current Action Scenes and Set decoration for hungama around Padmini and Shamsher marriage...Simple. ACTION Scenes COST a LOT. The action director and his Stuntsmen, do not come cheap. They risk their lives and hence the cost shoots up. There is a marked premium there. And all those guns, bombs/explosion, bike scene, planks, safety nets...will cost a lot. If you ask me for the set creation and the action scene, 22 lakhs is not that expensive.  One average sized marriage Pandal set up with decoration costs 5 lakhs easily. Don't you agree. And here the space was quite wide...So if you see in that sense, it is quite cheap.

And now coming to the crores that Sourabh Tewari spent in the initial action scenes in May and RK introduction week. He had to shoot partly in Ramoji Film City in Hyd and then FilmCity in Mumbai. And all of those scenes were ACTION scenes. So he ended up spending Crores along with Promo Shoots and all Promo campaigns.

Analysis of Balraj track vis-a-vis the Prophecy and the story.

Doubt:
As per the prophecy in the first episode, the astrologer tells Balraj "agar beti hui, toh jaise jaise uska naam hoga, tu sharmsaar hoga"
Madhu, therefore, was never meant to be the cause of his vinaash. As per this prophecy, she was supposed to bring him shame.
And for this prophecy to come to fruition, it is important that Balraj be alive and see his daughter's fame turn into his own shame. While I am enjoying the current epis, this does not really add up. Unless I am missing something here...

About prophecy...

Its a twisted word play by the Guruji. He said the same exact thing that he knew as Balraj would do. Since the mother-son hated girl childs, they would have felt sharmsaar each day it was growing.
And the soap-writers cannot fulfill that prophecy or make it real in this 21st century. They just have to lampoon the prophetic element driving Balraj and hence the more negation by calling him "paagal". 
The underlying social message cannot be ignored and Madhu doesn't have to become a superstar to tell her stupid MCP father that you are a Crap...but then yes, for viewer entertainment, she as RK's wife is now powerful.

I am playing Merry Go Round here. Already played a round with Zoya. 

  1. Seems Balraj gets killed. Hard to believe, but maan lete hain. From my point of view, Balraj was supposed to be executed or get jailed himself when he tries to kill Madhu or Padmini. (Said it in my Ashes Post). With only 3 crores left from 300 crs, he was already coming to an end. Sharmsaar to waise hi ho gaya ye hungama karke.
  2. What would be the twist that saves Padmini from getting jailed ?
  3. Will Padmini marry Shamsher ? 
  4. Seems RK will definitely get his Saas and Sasur married, otherwise he will be unable to have a Saat phera marriage with Madhu.  If that doesn't happen, he will not be able to leave. If he cannot leave, Radha will not stop him. If Radha & Bhatia Co. not stop him through some secret revelation, story will not move forward.
  5. And what happens to Trishna ? She can still keep the balance token amount given by Ballu to Trishna.  What will Roma say to her ?
  6. So assuming, some twist saves Padmini and she gets married to Shamsher, then RK can marry Madhu. That will make him go for executing  "Let's leave" plan. Radha ban jaayegi Rukawat and she might drop some bomb before her Rishu and Madhu. Will that bomb be about Mohan Kundra's dreams ? What was in that note paper that Madhu slyly read?
We are again back to the point where we started. So let's enjoy Ballu drama as he gets killed because this drama hold a meaning to Rishbala.

Till date Rishabh used to think, what was the reason, for the intertwining of fates between Rishabh and Madhu. He did not get an answer until he fell in love with her and found out that she is the one who is rescuing him from his abyss of hurt towards abandonment. Now when he saves Madhu from Balraj, at that time, he might realize, that not only he got to be saved, even he has become indirectly Madhu's saviour as the whole drama of Padmini -Shamsher marriage is a good riddance of Balraj from their lives (Padmini-Madhu-Trishna).
So Purpose behind Rishbala meeting is Mutual Help- this comes to a conclusion through Balraj.

So far all problems solved wherever we knew the story. What we don't know yet is Mohan Kundra story. And who is the Vault of Secrets and Story driver ever since Rishbala got married...Ms Radhaji 
Radhaji and Padmini who had advised Madhu to stick to RK and keep going with marriage have so far achieved what they want. Now they already tacitly promised to each other in Chawl scene that they will not let Rishabh leave Radhaji ever now that son reconciled with mother. The only thing that can hold RK back is if something about Mohan Kundra's dreams is thrown/shown to RK. That's my gut feel.

More on Balraj
Balraj...why do we have to think he is GREAT ? Those who think he has potential, should see initial episodes. He was nothing even then. Shamsher in the train, very easily outsmarts Balraj and B could not do anything. B has brains but not the right sense. He fails because he doesn't have principles and he is the laadla of his mother with no brothers as male competitors and no other men as his mentors. For such a male chauvinist, psychologically the guy had already set out on his path of decadence. Decadence in his character is the cause of his dwindling of fortune...its like revisiting our history as to how the kings/Nawabs/Shahs lost to British East India Company back then.  Its like we need to watch Shatranj ke Khiladi...(Satyajit Ray Movie). One doesn't have to be a Hannibal per se. A decadent character as Balraj is also enough to cause us displeasure, when we think in terms of Padmini - a simple woman from Motihari.

And why does RK have to deal with Balraj - the stupid feudal lord and his mental games. So much below his mental level. I rest my opinion there. Actually AA in her FF "Always Yours" so easily had RK controlling Madhu's feudal control. As in any given day, a city bred man and his mind is always better than a village nincompoop. And honestly the story-writers did not change his character. I went and watched old episodes. Balraj, the man is same.

There definitely needs to be an antagonism against Madhu and RK's dream of going away. They both want to go away...that is their happiness and that is what the new montage is about. Can they stay happy like they look in that montage ?

I need to get my head checked. I did not get this feeling at all when I looked at the new beautiful serene montage.

My immediate feeling was that RK is ushering Madhu into the  limelight. She is looking down, not in his eyes, nor is she smiling or looking relaxed, she is unsure even apprehensive.

Well at least, we both got the same feeling. It is something related to new journey, new time. The earlier montage had Madhu all apprehensive looking at us. Full on. And behind her Rishabh is confident looking at us, which could be watching you Madhu also.

Now this montage is where Rishabh is kinda leaning into her and her eyes looking down can also be because of shyness. It definitely has unsure feeling, but there is so much warmth in that close-up. Its no longer them looking at us. They are immersed into each other.

gave this whole balraj death and madhu related prophecy a lot of thought while my way back home from work...and concluded that by killing balraj in this manner and not fulfilling the prophecy, they are delivering a social message to address the MCP thought  process of, 'A girl child is a bane, and brings only burden and destruction to her family' , which is still prevalent to a considerable extent.

To be honest, I was initially not happy with his death track. But once I saw the underlying social message, it made perfect sense. And agree with you that Madhu does not have to be a superstar to destroy Balraj. A monster like him, deserves what Padmini is going to do to him. Superstar or no Superstar.

Events of the Episode
  1. Balraj convinces Trishna to do the film for his maiden production. He is able to keep his promise goven to Bittuji and RK.
  2. Trishna signs the contract to act in Balraj's film to pursue her dreams of becoming the Heroine in a movie. She is banking on the fact that Balraj doesn't know her and she is trying to control her fear. Balraj advances her the money and she gets the briefcase home.
  3. Balraj goes to RK Mansion to inform RK that work assigned to him (to get Trishna sign the contract) is accomplished. He gets a lot of condiment boxes. And instead of RK, he ends up meeting Madhu. All his urges to kill her supercede his common sense and he contemplates how to kill her. He breaks glasses and while Madhu is on phone, proceeds to attack her...but fails as Madhu turns around. To cover his intentions, he hurts his hand with the broken glass.
  4. Madhu provides him first aid. She bandages his cut hand. And Balraj keeps addressing her as his daughter and that he shall return her favor one day...But of course he means to kill her one day !
  5. The wedding preparations for Padmini and Shamsher are going on in full swing with Roma and Madhu spearheading the arrangements. Roma and Padmini see a disturbed Trishna coming home and unable to put her heart into things around her. As she leaves to Roma's apt, Roma follows her out on seeing the mysterious briefcase and perturbed and avoiding Trishna...Episode ends.

My take
The Padmini-Shamsher wedding preparations and BSC Movie Production begin !

I liked Trishna's guts to sign for the film; to follow through her dreams of becoming a heroine of a movie. Don't all  actors ask for one break? Any kind of break from whomsoever it is..they just go for it. Inspite of that opportunity taken, there is no guarantee that, one will get the success or not. Nevertheless, opportunity is what leads to that path of success or failure.
For Trishna who is past her prime age, she is definitely 26 or 27 considering that MB is 22; this opportunity, she cannot waste it. She decided to take the risk. She is shit scared and yet she took the plunge.



Balraj -Trishna
Balraj, kept remembering the Trishna, his young daughter of yesteryears when she used to entertain him as his game and today he yet again uses the same bait that attracts her...her dreams and aspirations...like when young, she was attracted to game and adventure.

  1. Would Balraj have left alone Trishna or let her leave the premises in right shape had she not signed the contract ?
  2. Did Trishna feel that she won't be able to leave the premises of BSC until she signs the contract ? After all she is first hand oppressed person at the hands of BSC. Even this girl has not psychologically come out of the shocking and fearful grip of her father and had never learned to say NO and just allow him to do whatever he pleases with her. Isn't she habitual to that ?
  3. And to give her credit, she visited BSC, because he threatened to come to the chawl, which we the viewers know that he would not have gone there to keep his cover !
The CVs are just taking advantage of Trishna characteristic traits of jealousy, insecurity and her dreams in running the track now...but they should also keep on focussing on her underlying fears and shocking state she goes into when she sees her biological father. And one thing she definitely carries in blood from her father and her biological mother...stamina to withstand ...and needed courage to go on...This has been vouched by Balraj himself and Daiima.  

CVs should not completely ruin Trishna character like filler material. Already this morning segments SBB/ABP/E24/IBN...whichever one it was...they made fun of the fact that Trishna was given just one dialogue and Shamsher inspite of being the Stuntsman was made to be helpless...


Balraj
If Trishna was one focus today, the other focus was Balraj himself. The man is now devoted to his mission. But honestly I did not get why he made Trishna sign the contract. Was it to keep RK all calm and not personally monitor him and his activities. Seems so because he has no choice. Bittuji forced him the other day to convince Trishna to act in his film. So he can still maintain his cover of being the novice producer in the town. But Balraj's rage at seeing Madhu in RK mansion was just too much. The psychotic guy starts anywhere, forgetting the plan. What would he have achieved killing MB there in her mansion, when clearly knows there are people at her disposal. Sigh! The maniac in him just can't wait to be done with his Vinashbala...and the maniacal creative urges of the CVs do not stop at showing unreasonable attacks.

Madhu -Balraj
All his dialogues with MB had double meaning and clearly MB did not like all that and yet true to her character, she couldn't stop bandaging the injured hand of the loathsome and fearful man in front of her.

The other Ops
And RK blurted out just Chaudhri name before MB!  When is he gonna utter Balraj!! 


Well not before all that SBS/E24/IBN7/ABP hungama trailers released today.

The wedding preparations are going on for Padmini and Shamsher's marriage. Roma and MB have started the wedding arrangements and Trishna is roaming around in panic at the decision she has made. In precap, we see her nervousness getting the better of her and she blurts out that she has been offerred a movie by Balraj Chaudhri to Roma. And ofcourse Padmini and Shamsher overhear that. Let's wait for tomorrow to know what happens then...

Well the episode was good in dramatic content except Balraj thinking of attacking MB at her own home. I was not bored and I could feel the chaos of people arranging for wedding and still everyone going about his duties to his best mind and capability. Like Trishna trying to think that she can take advantage of Balraj..she just dreams...but why should one not dream ?!!  Will give a B rating.

Today's episode was good with Balraj being a man on a mission. 

The prominent scenes wer Balraj-Trishna and Balraj-Madhu

Trishna: It was an "Aar ya paar" situation for her and she made her decision that belies her true nature. Her dreams/aspirations hold the highest regard for her and this nature overcame her fear for Balraj and her love for her Mom. The scene with her alter-ego's was good. She was not wanting to work with this maniac but her alter-egos reminded her about her dreams, this being her last chance to make it big, and most importantly " thoda risk,thodi keemat and thodi si himmat apne sapnon ko poora karne ke liye".. I don't blame Trishna for what she did today. Everyone likes to fulfill their dreams and if it is a take it or leave it situation, then for a person who has Trish's nature  would surely take it rather than regretting later on...
And another important thing that I have noticed in this show is that one character's nature or reaction or decision in a particular situation becomes antagonistic to one or many other characters in the show... This is what drives the story and brings the much-needed spice and drama..

Trishna has still not come out of the state she is in, after getting the signing amount, that she quite does not know what exactly to tell her family. Trishna was quite good in the entire length of the scene.

But I didn't undertsand clearly as to why Balraj offered Trish the movie contract? He plans to finish Pads and Madhu on Pads D-day right, then is he planning to go ahead and complete the movie with Trish, amass the profit,assuming the movie runs well?Confused And he offers her 20 lacs as signing amount which implies supposedly a big-budget movie but he has only 3 cr. Where will he get the rest of the money to finanace?Confused I knoe bohut door ki baat hai but still couldn't help thinking..

Balraj-Madhu scene: This man is really a total maniac only. He comes to RK mansion with an excuse of  giving sweets to prolly gather info on Madhu and the house but the moment he comes across a weapon that could potentially harm Madhu, he seizes the opportunity without thinking about anything...At the last moment, he hurts himself with the broken glass and Madhu true to her nature, nursegiri karne lag gayi, despite not getting good vibes. 

In the end, RK ka darshan bhi mil gaya. He utters why Chaudhry came home...Why didn't Madhu's mind even register, ki it's a jaana pehchana name.  When we suddenly hear a name we know, we automatically remember that person, though thousands could be having the same name, and then we  think that it might or might not be the one we are thinking about right?

An average episode...I was somehow left very dissatisfied today after the high of yesterday.
 (Padmini taking off symbols of her abusive marraige and crying with relief in Madhu's arms was one of the best shot scenes of the show)

I have two complaints...

1) Why did they just focus on Trishna's ambitions? Why did they not show that Trishna reasons for signing the contract included avoiding  Balraj's presence at chawl, her fear of Balraj or for the first time she felt she could do something for her stepmother and foster father.I am not sure if this was an oversight or by design. If it was oversight, they practically made Trishna one dimensional and ripped her character apart. If it was by design ...it is safe to say that Trishna is going to play a very grey character in future and will probably end up becoming the next antogonist.

2)Can they please make up thier mind on how they want to potray Ballu. In his current avatar, he seems more comic than manic to me. I remember Nana Patekar in Parinda...his transition from a very calm collected person to crazy manic was amazing. The transition between Ballu's craziness and his smartness should be fluid...that is what generates the fear factor. It would also be good to show a monologue that explains the reason for offering the contract to Trishna. If it was to harm RK eventually then the contract between RK and Ballu should have had some material commitments from RK's end but it was my understanding that RK had no financial or other risk in this movie.

I too had those two same issues and hence my B rating. I mentioned the dissatisfaction in a rambling manner. 
For me...the problem is with Trishna's fear factor not given weightage at all over her dreams and so I summed up that in another post...I mean they showed her fear in her stumble...and in the scene of Balraj as well...but at least one alter-ego  of hers should have voiced out her helplessness that if she doesn't sign the contract, her father will gobble up her...that kind of fear from one of her conscience image should have been presented.

And yes why Balraj is making Trishna sign the contract now...we all know its a futile exercise for him...but then, he cannot backtrack without raising doubts...so he will play along with RK and Bittuji. 20 lacs donation should have been too much to lose...hope he knows how to recover it...after killing drama. If he was just having Pads and Mads killed and he was not caught, then he could still have used Trishna as Cash Cow...but instead he is just being a mad man with no plan at all...so IMO just biding his time...

And honestly, the man is just a maniac wasting money like wastrels...like the bigdi hui aulaad of feudal system. He is not using his brain in organized manner and uses only in random/spontaneous manner. And being comic...he was comic in the beginning as well...like saying Wrong Number to his men in Mumbai, when they call him to present the status update over phone...because they were failing in Padmini Hunt exercise. His mother was beating her head at his idiocy...They are trying to show a man who has lost touch to ground reality and hence does not know when to be comic, maniac, fearful...he is just a whimsical guy whose support system was his mother. And IMO a crazy man like him can be comical also. It just shows his childish state of mind...that his mother allowed him to be in...result of excessive pampering and not making him responsible instead.

The way I saw the Balraj-Trishna scene goes this way.

Ballu tells her that you are standing at the door of your stardom and leaves her to decide if she wants to leave or enter. Trishna though was eyeing her ticket to stardom,knows that she should not accept this man's offer. She knows this man will wreak havoc. She does not go towards the paper but she goes by the side of the table when one of  her alter-ego says "bewakoof ho tum trishna, tere sapne tere saamne hai aur tu..." She was not contemplating there whether to take it or leave it. She knows she should not take it but the alter-egos start influencing her to think of her dreams and dreams only. There was no question of alter-egos reminding her about Ballu or her mom. And finally her ambitions takes precedence and then she moves towards the paper to sign it.

Just went back to read your weekend post on this. Actually this morning I was remembering Hima when I watched the episode and I was saying to myself...Hima was right.


You were addressing mine and Hima's musings on Trishna. So you got yours. To the hilt !

yaar...lekin...I am still not convinced...I needed that human fear to be present in her. Its not possible that fear does not take control of you. Its human psychology. Until one says NO...we are conditioned to say YES to Authority and for Trishna; Balraj is an authority. So a bit of that fear should also be shown.

Though I am willing to concede that Trishna's body is now consumed by fear as she is stumbling and lost and scared...but her mind is possessed by her dreams. Could be the case of her Conscious going after dreams and her Subconscious still experiencing Fear.

The Balraj we see today, is not the man we saw him 22 years back. And we should not expect to see the same old man too. 
The man 22 years back was a young powerful ruler, tyrant ,a  man who considered himself God, in his Motihari. Over the years, he lost his jawani and wealth, with that he lost the power and the aura. And his Amma ka aanchal bhi chut gaya, the Amma who was the pillar of his strength and the woman who pushed him to be the evil maniac sending chills down the spine of the viewers and his subjects.
Today, we see a man who has been defeated by fate /destiny/ circumstances but still the man is trying to hold up his pride/shaan. The reason why he is not succumbing is because it's just not in his Chaudhary blood to accept his defeat and humble himself. He is a man defeated by circumstances but  still not defeated in spirit." His paagalpan, junoon, himmat, akad, zid ,ghamand, self-esteem,perseverence, etc etc is still intact and he is fighting against all odds to emerge victorious. He is a man fighting for his own survival. He has become cynical, lonely (in every sense) and his only sahara seems to be his weird comic sense.       




With due respect to Rishbala Fans.


Inspite of them being lead actors, the story cannot run if they are not supported by a proper story, which means a number of supporting characters. Please give due respect to other supporting characters stories.


It is wrong of to say that Trishna got such a length of screen time. Tell me why not ?
Is she not equally the daughter, sister and sister-in-law of the same family of which Rishbala are part of. And honestly speaking RK, Trishna, Roma, Shamsher and Padmini are more important to the story because they work in the Film Industry. Initially Roma's character was supposed to enact the life of a junior artist and she was doing that when she was introduced. And later, we see her pushing Trishna into movies. The struggle through her eyes becomes very real. And then when her brother is lying in hospital, she goes around various associations asking for benefits or advances for the injured. Likewise, Trishna's story is about a struggling actress trying to make it big. She may soon fizzle out and just remain a junior artist like Roma. So what's wrong in her aspiring to it. Wish she finds an opportunity in TV atleast.

I remember this movie Luck By Chance...how Farhan Akhtar's character uses his GF Konkona Sen's contacts and he gets his break into movies...whereas Konkona just remains a TV actress...

I mean...peeps, please have patience and give the creative team to breathe. Already your TRP ratings make them nervous...on top of it negative reviews for everything...Which movie has just hero and heroine for 3 hours ?

Another thing...why MEIEJ is shot fast...as in tracks move fast...because they give that movie reel feel...unlike the soap feel. Movies run fast and soaps have to be slow...so here they run various tracks to create Filmi drama...

In contrast, I like the Chawl party over the Bhatias...any given day.. because I did not sign up for Bhatias and they were not even part of  the promos towards the show.

And Rishbala or any emotion...the suprise and us glued to it.. is until we reach climax and acceptance and pleasure felt is when we have catharsis. Once these moments gone in any drama, they cannot be recreated. This is the basics of emotional element in drama. Why the CVs still keep repeating things is because this is soap drama and people keep asking for it...so we need to live with these pit falls for any romantic jodi and the drama they enact to make our lives happy.

Have I told you...that I actually get bored to see the same actors everyday on TV when I am watching MEIEJ...and that I actually have to go deep into their characters in order to lose my ennui at looking at all those faces...including Rishbala...reason being...I am too exposed to them and since I am watching a soap, I cannot even help it. So instead I concentrate on stories and characters. And everything of what we feel is natural human response.

My apologies, if I hurt people's sentiments...just that I believe that we can all keep ourselves restrained until the inevitable happens and we leave the show because we are so bored...

Episode Events
  • RK continues watching from afar Shamsher and Padmini scene. How Padmini brought medicines for Shamsher and how she was taking care of him. He is jappy watching them and their relationship.
  • Bittuji comes and asks RK to come outside as he needs to see something. Outside they see the adamant Balraj doing a drama of ...doing pooja of RK...with aarti. I wonder where he got the lamp and pooja samagri  from. Maybe he stole from the studio. RK and Bittuji are upset with the commotion he is raising, ask him to leave. Upon further argument, RK promises, "okay you can make a movie with me". Balraj leaves. RK regrets that in the heat of the moment he made a mistake of saying yes to Balraj. Bittuji convinces RK, not to bother and think of it as a blessing in disguise. They can have the crazy man produce the film for Trishna and if things get revealed, they can back out and no one would believe this crazy man.
  • Later at night, RK and Madhu are practising a script for RK. Madhu repeatedly keeps failing with saying out RK's name each time. Soon that talk leads how Madhu never liked anything about films and how Shamsher had to take care of her in order for her mother and Roma to give the shots. This leads RK to bring the subject of his wish to have Padmini and Shamsher getting married. Madhu gets offended that RK still thinks from his polluted narrow mind and that he feels the need to marry of her parents inspite of their pure platonic relationship. RK explains that it is not that, but it is about her parents requirement for companionship in old age. They need each other's support much more when the children settle down away from them. Madhu is angry and says end of discussion.
  • In morning too, Madhu remains upset with RK and doesn't talk to him inspite of him calling her. He reaches dining hall and asks her why she is not talking to him and reminds her that not her, but only him can have that kind of attitude. She tries to serve food for him and he shoves the plate away and comes back to his room in anger. Radha is frightened and Madhu follows RK into his room.
  • The fight intensifies and Madhu blurts out that she is still upset with him for suggesting marriage of her parents thinking of their relationship as something impious. RK pulls the upset Madhu into his arms as he cannot see her like that. Hugging her, he says, that's not the case as she thinks of his proposal and that she should think about what he said in calm and collected mind. Madhu then counters RK by saying how about him asking forgiveness from his mother and she can then agree for his proposal.
  • RK is very upset at the turn of events and starts thinking over days events in his vanity van. He reads through the contract for Balraj's offer of becoming producer to his venture. He refuses lunch. Bittuji observes all of this and aks what happened. RK asks him to get married and see for himself what sort of troubles brew up. Very endearing scene. Must watch scene.
  • Finally Balraj comes in and Bittuji and RK ask him to sign the contract. They inform him that RK will only make a guest appearance in yhis movie and someone else will be the hero. And that heroine has been already short-listed. Balraj expresses his desire to see his heroine...who is none other than Trishna for whom RK is taking so much trouble.

I liked the episode. Very much. Will give an A

Theme being ...Stubborness and Craziness gets you somewhere ! Logic can be thrown out of the window

Continuing from yesterday, so the creatives nicely changed yesterday's precap scene and Padmini and Balraj do not see each other.

Stubborn and Crazy Balraj
What if he had been sent away from the party. He gets another novel and crazy idea. He starts "aarti" of RK the Superstar in front of the poster. The commotion and attention he raises, is enough to drive RK crazy and he agrees to let Balraj become his producer. Balraj gets his way.

Stubborn and Crazy Madhu
What if RK made her unhappy talking about getting Padmini and  Shamsher get married. How dare he!! But then...no she has a plan. She knows how to get back to RK for making her unhappy. Forget about her parent's happiness, its all about her promise to Radhaji to return her son. Squeeze it out of RK while she has chance for it. She blackmails him...ask forgiveness from your mother and then I shall relent and agree to have my parents married. 

Must say Madhu is an excellent negotiator...Chit bhi uski, Pat bhi uski
Head..she wins...RK will refuse to ask forgiveness from Rads...No prob, She does not have to work on her parents marriage.
Tails ...She wins. RK will ask forgiveness from Rads...Madhu gets to have fulfilled her promise to Rads about Ma-Beta Milaap

Can Madhu get any dumber and childish ?
She is acting as an immature brat who doesn't how to deal with RK Logic Express. So she pulls out all her crazy horns! Gosh!! RK married a Child-Wife. Period. She is like the child who is happy to see the world as is and romp and stomp in it with all protection from its parents. Seldom it has time or care to think what might be bothering the parents or what might be the parents sacrificing for its happiness. Hope Madhu really thinks with a cooler mind as RK suggested to her. If she cannot think as Padmini and Shamsher's daughter, atleast she can think as the daughter who is now married to another man, no more just the daughter. 
And will she ever learn not to blackmail RK...with those use of photographs or today's condition at his seemingly desirous outcome. She seems to get a lot of pleasure pinching him hard. 

We are having so far 4 negative traits for Madhu the Self-Righteous
  1. She is dumb and in her dumbness can hurt her loved ones (not just RK, anyone) - majorly Mukund track and we always see her being dim.
  2. She is stubborn without any reason.
  3. She can stoop to blackmail if she thinks it is right to do so. - Meri Maa se Maafi maango track in Aug/Sep and now Tumhaari Maa se Maafi Maango condition
  4. She pries into other's privacy and has also audacity to wreak havoc in other's lives through her ill-formed opinions around those scoops. - Ganesha track and her promises to Rads and claiming to change RK almost pushing him towards death, Shamsher track and now Letter/note reading

RK and his woes with Crazy Gang around him
The man truly portryayed his marriage woes with that Child-Wife of his in a sarcastic pleasurable way, biding his time, reading the contract for Balraj, refusing his lunch and sharing his woes with his ally Bittuji. He was so sweetly pissed off that he wanted Bittuji to be married and burning in the same hell as him. That was just awesome to watch.

Then the man had to deal with his new found sponsor...the crazy Balraj. Who signs without seeing anything...for how does it matter to him what he signs. He knows only to play with his Tamancha (Pistol). That tamancha is the ultimate binding contract for him. RK doesn't yet know that...but we know it.  The guy was disappointed that RK was not starring in his self-produced film...but he is happy to see his heroine. 

That's another story for tomorrow when RK's crazily jealous and Hawa Mein Udne waali Heroine Trishna will meet Balraj. Will she recognize her father ? Will she be stubborn enough to forget Balraj and let her dreams of becoming a Heroine play on ? We have to watch this tomorrow.

I have begun to enjoy the flawed characters around Rishabh Kundra and it will be nice to see, how he wades through it all. And Rishabh Kundra is self-confessed RK, who does not know what goes on his mind.  So I guess he can wade through it...

Best scenes for me were
  1. RK and Madhu practicing the script
  2. RK and Bittuji playing friends...sharing and listening to woes
  3. RK and Madhu fight at the table and that hug. I liked it very much.

Raj Zutshi or Balraj
He is just brilliant and him with that pony tail, which I couldn't see; was such a good sight.  
Watching him was plain hilarious. Just mute the video and watch him and others. You will start laughing uncontrollably. Did you see how he was trying to whistle and he could not ! :)) And what was his idea about bringing in sugar cane stick plucked liked that. I just tried and tried and I failed. I guess it is to make Bittuji and RK become bit too self-assured that this mad guy will let them have their last word. They just don't know that the guy is intelligent with a twisted mind too. 
Bittuji and RK ki waat lagne waali hai for calling that man a paagal. They are paagal enough to have associated with himself. :))))

I can really be lax on RK for not doing due diligence on Balraj's background, because 1) He is not bothering himself with the guy's background except the fact that he is insuring himself contractually with him. So he is making him obligatory for bearing all production expenses. 2) RK is in a hurry to get set go with Trishna case. And he knows Trishna is not that promising. 3)There are lot of fanatical elements approaching Film Industry. Everyone knows that there needs to be certain passion to be part of Film Industry. Lot of people like Balraj can think of entering movie industry. Do you look at the faces of real life industry people ? Don't the faces speak for themselves ?

Today's episode was really nice to watch even on mute. Did you all see Rads disgust at seeing RK shoving the plate away from Madhu ? She was like...what disgusting manners? And I burst out seeing her cringing face. I was like...Did you forget that this is your son ? :)))

And lastly it was fun to see, each time RK's flustered face looked like sandwiched and caught in unwanted worlds throughout the episode. Woe his two days in the episode today. 

Wasn't it one of the fastest episode for MEIEJ...two days so quickly passed. From yesterday noon to today noon kind ?:))) For me it was entertainment and paisa wasool episode. And about that hug...I liked how DD trembled in anger state and how that was actually emoted well between the two actors in the actual hug scene. I guess it came up pretty easily with VD and DD shaking themselves in that push-pull scene.

Paagal Ballu aur RK ki Bachchi Biwi!!

It was quite a good episode.

I personally like the fact that Madhu got enraged when RK put forth the Malik-Padmini marriage proposal. Any one in her place would have done the same. She has lived with them for the past 21-22 years. They might not be blood relations but yet their family r'ships are all very much beyond the conventional society norms. Malik-Padmini's might be a benaam rishta and prolly the society might discard them as living-in(or even illicit) but yet theirs is a very platonic r'ship built by mutual respect, trust, care, concern not only for their common string(kids)  but for each other's well-being too,etc. And had Madhu contemplated over RK's idea, I would have definitely scoffed at her that somewhere even she thinks that they need to get married to get a proper status and that she had demeaned her parents r'ship.

Now, coming to the condition she put forth in front of RK. I like it for a reason and it angered me for another reason.
The cause of anger was that how could she say ask  your mom for forgiveness.It was totally ridiculous!!! Had she told him forgive your mom and patch-up with her, it would have been better.
Why I liked it- It was to show to him that it is as difficult for me to accept it just the way it is as difficult for you to patch-up with your mom. Even at that time, he was trying to convince her and make her agree to him. So she wanted to say she was also hurt by the fact that he also thought bad about Pads-Malik r'ship, thus the condition. The fact that he brought up the issue and also the press-conf memory where he had defamed their r'ship had made her jump to the conclusion that somewhere he thinks bad about their r'ship too.

Madhu shall come around with this proposition and RK would make sure she sees sense that it is for her parent's own good and betterment. But for now, am happy with her first reaction.  21-22 years is too long and she has heartily accepted their r'ship the way it is and for her to be convinced shall take time...

I liked RK-Madhu hug so much today and RK-Bittuji scene where he talks of his marriage woes was too good:):)

One scary and a very ominous thing is Ballu. RK's adamance, stubborn nature, arrogance is all rendered powerless by ballu's antics. RK becomes so helpless in front of Ballu's madness to such an extent that even his rational thinking is bowing down to Ballu's paagalpan.

A nice episode… I am glad they showed difference of opinion between Madhu and RK on Padmini-RK's relationship.
Madhu, for that matter the entire Malik family is conditioned to think their family really doesn't have to be bond in relationships the society accepts. Understandable!  All their lives I am sure they have faced snide remarks and the family hasn't succumbed to it and have methodically avoided it. Madhu's words of 'pavitra' and 'naam ki zarurat nahi hai' was what I am sure the entire family feels. So she lashing out on RK was given. But RK did show amazing maturity not to hold that against her. I loved the scene he hugged her and yet again explained what he meant. 'Badi bachi banke sochna' was such a considerate way of telling her to think as a grown up daughter.
What put me off was Madhu holding him to ransom.  If she didn't want to discuss she could have refused him yet again… she didn't have to throw a deal at him. It was almost like it was a strategy to stop him from talking about Malik-Padmini…. Reminded me of the photo deal and I didn't like it. For the last time Madhu, If RK has to reconcile with his mom… he has nothing to apologise for!  Why does she think that it is all RK's fault? She has seen him reconcile with so many things and people… herself, her family and the almighty! Does she think it is fashionable for him to snub his mother? Did she hear him when he spoke about how 3 people closest to him broke his heart? Even after that why does Madhu feel he should apologise??? I will feel like an idiot if RK apologises to Radha for no fault of his. One reason why I want RK's involvement in Padmini-RK's wedding is to make people around him realise he isn't averse to remarriage and he doesn't hold it against his mom either… that is not the reason he is upset with his mom. I am sure if Bhatia was half as good a human that Malik is, RK would have been more than glad to accept his as a father. What I liked about RK today was that he was being very patient with madhu even after she put that condition infront of him. He was upset for sure because of which he didn't eat… but he wasn't mad at her… he will get home and try again.
Nice scene between Padmini-Malik and Madhu… Now that RK has put in the keeda into Madhu's mind may be she will start seeing things differently. She will probably realise that how her mom frets over Malik's medicines is similar to her being RK's chemical Biwi.
Another moment which seemed like a script of the erstwhile(?!?) Madhubala… Madhu's aversion to the film industry…
Ballu does have a twisted way of getting things done from RK and so easily at that. Not a very good sign…

Exactly Leela. First I used to get upset. Now that I know that, baad mein Madhu ki waat lagne waali hai, I am enjoying it.

Brought up by a Shamsher and Padmini turned her into a self-righteous vain brat. Her parents always allowed her whatever she wishes. If Madhu was spoiled as self-righteous Glycerine girl, they spoiled Trishna as the self-possessed and self-important Heroine girl. Vain traits were encouraged.

Madhu now being married to an RK has to keep fighting to keep up her self-righteous vain trait. The only trait that helps her fighting RK is the stubborn streak that she got from Balraj, her biological father.

And Madhu when she comes face to face with Balraj as her father, she will value Shamsher and RK. The whole show is about her learning  from a naive, vain girl to becoming an informed person, but who will always be protected and again turned into princess by RK. She is actually being spoiled by RK. So even if she is gaining sense like in Ganesha track and Shamsher track, she gained knowledge only to become more closer to RK. So for sure there are going to be tracks, where she keeps getting closer to him in SURRENDER rather than in LOGICALLY APPROVING manner and hence the junoon and madness. He will keep felling her stubborn walls for him and she will gladly come out her self-constructed tomb of dumbness. That is why this is Ishq and Junoon.

I usually don't delve a whole lot while posting, just put in my immediate impressions.

Today after the post, RK lingers in my mind and hence my ramblings here. Your comments are welcome to understand this situation.

To me, looks like in the haste to make everything alright, RK has taken on more than he can handle.He has opened many fronts at the same time lekin lad nahin pa raha hai. It seems he has implicitly assumed Madhu's unwavering loyal support in this mission but she has her own agenda against him. I don't see how RK will be able to ride into sunset with Madhu if one of his ladai is against Madhu, her misguided convictions and beliefs.

In his confession to Madhu about making everything alright with her family, there is not a single dialogue where he says ki Madhu is ke liye tumhara saath hona bahut jaruri hai. Tumhri madad ke bina mein akela yeh nahi kar sakunga.

In his true RK ishtyle he is waging war on all injustices all by himself.

You understood it right. If you see my response to Leela, that is pretty much RK's story in reverse and which shall explain your concern in bold.

In essence, RK is not asking for Madhu's help, RK is asking Madhu to agree with him. He puts across a thought and he expects Madhu to agree with him and understand him. But Madhu being Madhu, she just accepts it as a verdict, which ticks off RK big time. Then he quarrels with her, throws plates and pans and pots and yells LOL and then finally with love explains her how she is wrong in just surrendering like that and instead shows the logic behind things. She seems to be seeing his viewpoint, and Rishabh Kundra is mesmerized in her and he forgets to see if she understood his logic again or just listened to his lecture totally mesmerized by him.

Essentially their love for each other makes them happy, but it is the same love that makes a spoilsport. One makes her a princess and other makes him a God. And yet one appears to be a subservient wife which is not making the husband happy and the other appears bossy husband which is not making the wife happy. And what is all the fight about? Don't be a subservient wife to me. Don't be a bossy husband to me ? Idiots! Aren't they speaking the same ? ROFL

Apna ki jaata hai..we will just enjoy the show until it lasts. LOL

@bold: RK ne badi si musibat mol li hai. Bittuji told that " Is burai mein bhi kuch achchayi hai". But the fact is that it is still a burai and the goodness is just a fraction...

@red: How much ever he insures himself contractually or the fact that all the production expenses are going to be borne by Balraj, so are the losses or the gain, it doesn't change the fact that he is going to be associated with this man. RK is still going to be involved in most of the technical aspects albeit secretly.   Had RK  been thinking of handing the reins to him(and not be associated with the film), then i agree he can be lax but with him wanting to control him, which implies, working quite closely with him(though Trish might be unaware), then isn't it best that he does a bg check on this man, where, how,what of his finances, personal life ,etc.?He met  him in jail for godsake and he might never know what sort of a mess he can land himself into. He is a superstar. He has a rep, and a lot more other things to keep up and he would not like to involve himself in shady dealings. Wouldn't it be better if he is cautious?

I am lax at them being goners because they are already in that state of mind ..."Vinasha kaale Vipreeta Buddhi". I guess you understand this. Right. Instead of being cautionary, they are thinking this intelligent and venturing ahead. That's why my three observations ...not bothering, hurry and doing business with fanatics.

Bade Bade kaarnamo ke peeche aisi choti choti galtiyaan maaf ki jaati hain. That is what RK with that sorry face is asking of me. Bass you wait when his mind will go ballistic.

a. the man is not from the industry. doesnt RK have a standard for himself he is a superstar and most superstars only work with the best unless they have a very good script in hand. Okay so this movie is for Trishna launch but then how do they suspect to make her a hit by launching her with a producer that has no experience.
b. they have no background check on this man. last time RK saw him he was in jail. so they are hiring a psycho/criminal to work for them. do they not understand the consequences of that? and RK expects everything to be hunky dory after he leaves meaning no problems can occur while he is gone. Confused

No. People like RK also can keep their logic aside sometimes.

Even in real life, intelligent people can also make mistakes like RK is doing. We Gaddams are biggest examples. We look so intelligent and actually are intelligent. But circumstances in life force you to overlook logical things in search of happiness and go for anything that seems easy. If we are destined to be lucky, even silliest of plans become successful. If we are destined to have failures, even solid fool-proof plans will also fail. And we have failed especially in trusting people for arranged marriages. We failed big time, losing money in those stupid ventures...let alone the mental disturbance.

Like buying shares, some make money, some lose money.
Even film-stars, one becomes superstar, others fade away.

Business has always luck involved it. That's why prayers to Goddess Lakshmi or Ganesh Pooja for any new venture. But inspite of all poojas, its the luck which rules the roost.

Business plans in Wall Street firms...you should see how wacky their business plans are. Sometimes we feel as if a school kid would have better sense to do business.

Sab chalta hai bhai.  That's why Hits and Misses.
