Episode 243 Discussion: 11th April 2013

Crazy RK continues expressing his love and obsession for Madhu.  Holds her Hostage in RK Mansion by cutting his hand with the kitchen knife.

A SIGNIFICANT EPISODE

Events of the Episode
  1. Episode continues with Madhu fleeing from RK's room at opportune moment of RK turning away his attention over to the servant. RK is angry, panic-stricken and starts yelling Biwi. Downstairs the servant at the maindoor blocks Madhu from getting away. Risabh soon follows her and holds her. Rest the household servants, Bittuji, Dips and Sikky come to watch the commotion.  RK turns around to them and asks them to leave and not watch a husband-wife's squabble as otherwise he will puncture theoi eyes. All leave.
  2. RK and Madhu's confrontation starts. Madhu confronts him how he can call whatever he did to her as mere "Nok-jhonk" (small tiff, here and there). The unwedding, the public humiliation, the way he besought to break her heart is not a nok-jhonk that she can forget the hurts and forgive him even if he beseeches forgiveness on his knees. And on top of that, she is not seeing any remorse from him. That she is not a commercial glass piece to be broken. She is a girl whose trust, heart and self-confidence was broken.
  3. RK agrees that he has made a mistake, had committed the wrong, and that every mistake can be forgiven, a chance given to correct it. Madhu is apalled at his choice of correcting it. She asks him, how can he correct it by forcefully bringing her home? He asks her to suggest anything that can correct all that went wrong. Madhu states that nothing can correct whatever he did, because it was not just a wrong, he had cut her into pieces. How can he correct it ? He just cannot.
  4. But RK has answer for everything. If he cannot correct it, then he must put an end to his determination to correct it. HahahaHe comes with a knife, hands it over to Madhu and asks her to end him, his love, his obsession and his lovestory, as he her blood in his veins, keeps calling her name. When Madhu's hands are shaking, he says, "you won't be able to do it as you are so delicate, let me do  it myself". He takes the knife, holds the knife edge on to his palm and lets his blood bleed from the cut. He quotes the bleeding blood drop as his witness, his cut as the evidence of his destruction as he bleeds his love.
  5. As Madhu tries to stop him, RK puts up a condition that he shall stop if she answers two of his questions. As to question number one, he asks if she loves him. M is not willing to answer him, but wants him to stop at his madness. RK just yells out the question to her and under the duress, Madhu answers, Yes. That she loves him. He drops the knife. Madhu goes ahead to dress the cut. Lot of blood has been bled.
  6. RK in a deranged state, keeps looking at her in lovelorn state and asks her not to worry about the injury or blood loss because if anything happens to him, she can give him blood. And he proceeds to ask her his second question, if she loves only him and no one else. This question utterly disgusts her. She looks at him bewildered and disgusted and simply decides to walk into the mansion as RK is not in any reasonable state to be left alone. Dazed as she is with the events, she walks through RK's blood, leaving her blood-smeared footsteps on the floor. RK watches it and is happy at that kind of RK style Griha Pravesh. Madhu extremely disgusted tells RK, she is not coming back to their room and goes inside the ground floor spare rooms.
  7. Sultan and Aryan cajole each other. Aryan promises Sultan that he will never be obstinate of asking him to take him to Madhu. They feed each other. Aryan reminds that they need to move on and will move on. (Trust me...the kid is uttering these mature dialogues, Unbelievable isn't it?).

Push me, pull me, twirl me, lift me
You draw blood

You shackle me, manacle me
You make me captive
Talk seductive
You make me cry
An ocean of tears
You made me feel
Betrayed, cheap, unwanted, unloved
But now you're back
With your sweet talk
Knife in your hand, blood on my feet
Smirking, shouting, paagal acting
What is this crazy junoon?

Yes darling
We have a twisted relationship
You and I.

You slapped me, mocked me,
Made me angry,
Jailed me, mailed me
Bangles in your fury
You poured my spirits into the drain
Unleashed my demons with your disdain
I took sweet revenge but alack
It was too late cause you've left a mark
You've torn into my brain and heart
Can't live without you, can't love anyone but you...
I'm chained, enslaved, enraptured, crazed
For you, this is my junoon!

@ pnars, that was a lovely piece of poetry Clap

Shri,
thanks for the BB song (Page 13) ... one of my favorites  ... Smile

Yesterday's epi made me go back n reread  Tagore's 'Rahur Prem' / 'Demon's Love' ... I m pasting below a part  of d poem translated by Sukanta Choudhuri -

                                                 " ...
Like rugged iron ankle-bands
I'll clasp your feet with grappling hands
                     Eternally.
A wretched captive in my thrall,
           I've seized you,
Fettered your life in my life's chains:
           Who'll free you?

Wherever you walk in this world,
           Wherever sit, wherever stand,
In spring or winter, day or night,
You'll bear the ceaseless clanking weight
Of this hard heart in shackles round your feet...

                                                  ...
I am your partner for all time,
                     your shadow.
Now in tears and now laughter,
Now before you and now after,
Now beside, my dark shape you will see.

                                                       ...
No matter where: look at the skies,
My darkening form will hide the world from sight. "

Well ... it will b interesting to watch how Rishabh Kundra brridges d gap between this 'Rahur Prem' state of consciousness  n d 'tu ganga ki mauj'-wala state  ... Embarrassed

P, That poem.  Beautiful.  Day Dreaming LOL From my point of view, as an audience, the craziness of that love and obsession; still makes sense to me.  Here watch this song.  Watch BB and MK...and pay attention to people. That's us enjoying a mad love story.  Baiju Bawra was supposedly better than Tansen and yet he could not advance his career at Akbar's court as his love for his village sweetheart somehow hindered or something...well at least that's what the movie tries to tell LOL

Uttara,
Thank you for sharing that poem.  All these ancient stories, legends, show that love many forms of expression and devotion have not changed a bit.  I enjoyed what you wrote there...bridging the gap between Rahur's Prem and BB's Hopeful State of Sangam...It would be so beautiful to watch. Tongue

>>>>

>>>>Shri, enjoyed the Baiju Bawra song and the audience reactions LOL. I want an inside dekko at that brain of yours - how do you jump from RK the superstar to yester year's hits and all over the place? How do you connect seemingly unconnected things and come up with new thoughts? Kudos!

P,
They say our brain registers a lot of things and we use only 10 to 30% of it.  It have awed me. Always. So I guess, I started making connections or rather I said to myself, I want to connect..and hearing this brain, it understood me LOL I think when we observe things dispassionately, we will see the normality or abnormality of bits and pieces within that whole.  And those bits and pieces are then easy to fit here and there in our passionate moments of involvement.  And when we make those connections between independently observed events to involved moments, lot of our pain or pleasure is normalized and we become balanced.

Your poem is accepting something and it actually triggers something else.  We always need to come out of involvement to view our involvement's worth.  And all the more the experience becomes beautiful as the canvas now is bigger and shared by many...and our confidence is also increased.

Episode Reviews
Reading reviews in the earlier pages, I asked myself, "Was the episode so bad that people are so reacting inspite of all those spoilers of cutting the hand in that deranged manner ??" Ermm!!!

And after watching the episode...what do I see ? Nothing new or Nothing unexpected.
The guy had breakdown yesterday itself...so why were people so surprised. Doesn't make sense, when you have thoroughly discussed and prepared yourself to watch the expected. Duh!!!

Anyways...I start my review without further ado. Well ...I had to because your reviews sent to me Lands that I should never explore, but when I watch the videos, it is totally something else. Silly!!! And its already Page 9. That's why Leela keeps asking me to reserve my take for page 1. But I am against reserving a spot for episode review and that's why I don't do it.

I liked all of it. All characters were in form and played their part. None was derailed, including the crazed Rishabh Kundra.

Sultan - Aryan Scenes

Every day, the CVs show sad and disappointed faces of Sultan and Aryan, but simultaneously they make them utter dialogues like moving on without Madhu. Tuesday, Sultan was asked by RK to forget Madhu, Wednesday Sultan makes Aryan understand how they have to move on without Madhu, and today Thursday they make Aryan give understanding back to Sultan, that he will not ask for Madhu and only Sultan and Aryan together will be happy.

Sultan is relieved at his son's promise and understanding. The father and son are happily feeding each other.  Liked that scene.

Me without being spiteful of them or distrusting of them, I see that Aryan-Madhu extreme bonding is slowly retraced and getting moderated. Is this CV's conscious effort ? Is this their logical effort? At this point I cannot understand, but I do see that retrenchment is happening now even from Aryan angle.

So question is...what will it have to be to keep Sultan looming large over Rishbala Equation now that Aryan equation is out. Obviously Sultan's state of heart, which Kaka planted the seed of suspicion in Viewer Mind in Tuesday's episode.

I am willing to wait, how it plays out.

RK Mansion Scene

The most dramatic scene
I enjoyed them drama-wise without participating in the pain of seeing a man cut his hand. He was already crazed in doing so. Why should I go crazy at his hurt. Instead I was thinking, may be Madhu should call Emergency number like Police or somebody...
If Madhu did not get any idea, she should have taken a deep breath...not try to pull the hand ...as you can see ...that struggle will only deepen the cut.  And what was that ridiculous Synthetic Dupatta tearing and bandaging that much deep cut ? Ermm  Can she not call the servant and ask him to get First Aid, when you are not in the street, but actually in a well-furnished house ?
So you can see that none of that drama was like real life situation like, so why bother ?  It was made sensational that way to paint what kind of craziness this man Rishabh Kundra can go to.

Question now for Madhu through that scene is...Can Madhu accept marriage with a Crazy Man ? Obviously NO.

Rishabh Kundra
He was perfectly in character. He did not play any game. According to me, he is a man who looks for cues in other's responses and devises his strategy. You do not like this quality of his, fine. But that's the man for you ...a defensive man, a man working on his reflexes.  The moment Madhu challenged him, "Batao Sudhaar sakte ho ? Nahin Sudhaar Sakte !!", Rishabh Kundra got his action back. He knew exactly how to answer her. Accept the challenge and answer her back. Before that he was a bit flummoxed when she factually expressed the situation between them.

So what should Madhu learn from here ...Never challenge the man. Never answer the man. Never raise hopes in the man. And just ignore him. If your ignoring him turns him belligerant, give a good fight and do not give in. Just keep giving him reality check, until he has no more questions to ask of you. Trust me...in time the man will leave. If he won't you always threaten him to be reported for stalking you.

ETA: About the injustice of second question you people felt...D'oh
How could you assume that his bringing Madhu in that forcible manner was anything that was being sanctioned by Gods!  But yes, it was definitely a Lover's Tiff from RK's point of view. He is the one enjoying all of it. And for him ordinary conventions do not apply. For him all vows are from his mind, from himself and not any institutional texts.

The second question he asked to Madhu..."No one else is there ?! Right ?"

From Madhu's point it may be wrong. But why and how it is incorrect from his viewpoint ? I think from his viewpoint, it is right.

He is not having a peace of mind with Sultan looming large in his mind. How can he ignore that ? Especially when he saw Madhu leave him in their moment of passion for each other, and instead runs to color Sultan with such love...do you all remember how Madhu was applying color over Sultan's face in a massaging fashion ? It is not easy to ignore your intuition and what you see with your eyes when they show the same thing and especially your loved one expresses otherwise in words but her actions are in disparity.

More on this , as to why he needs answers, read this post.

Madhubala Malik Kundra
The sadist of her husband became a masochist today.  She really needs to decide fast. Whether she wants to be married to this man ? Or what does she want to do. That was her predicament today.

What did she do ? She asked Radhaji, "Kya yehi meri kismet hai ?" And seems per precap, Radhaji is asking her to leave. So that means Madhu got her answer, and she now only needs to have good solid fights with Rishabh Kundra and break away from him permanently.

Radhaji
She is a spokesman for Rishbala Equation. So she will always be a Rishbala Lover. She too yearns like Rishbala Lovers that they should get back to each other because RK and Madhu belong to each other. But even she has been forced to see propriety of the situation. In the precap scene, she is deciding..."No way. Madhu, you need not go down ---TO BE CONTINUED TOMORROW."

It doesn't matter if Radhaji is overpowered by Rishabh Kundra. It is enough that Radhaji supports Madhu and from there on Madhu should continue her fight with her husband for severance of the relationship, unless RK mends himself...yes first mends himself rather than their relationship.

Note to Rishbala Fans
Watch the episode.  Discuss the episode, but in a good way. Don't get upset about Rishbala equation always. Don't rant over them unnecessarily causing displeasure to many others who enjoy the show for drama. The Episode is not always about them to ignore other possible interesting things in the episode.

About the injustice of second question you people felt...Duh!!!

Just my response to make you feel good.

But that's where the fun is. Remember I said on Monday or Tuesday, that the more Madhu keeps quiet and does not answer him, the more he will be tortured and will have to get his own answers. That Madhu loves him he already knows...usme naya kya hai...he needed answer to the doubts he had through his dream. He is trying to get answer for all that.  And Madhu is right...She should not bother to answer.  In the process, if he disgusts her, you Rishbala Lovers will fume that he is breaking the "delicate thread of heart of their relationship". But think on it positively. Madhu is not ready lo love the faky Rishabh Kundra of the past. So let her get disgusted, let her get free of this person in front of her, and when Rishabh Kundra, by the time he loses her but understands himself, he can start off a new love story, with her. I love to see it this way.

Darling Shri, you are absolutely right.  I personally didn't like the question because all of sudden Sultan's head was peeping on my screen, I just didn't want to see him there or feel his presence during that scene.  But on a serious note, RK did ask the question rightfully, I just feel that questions were placed in a wrong order.  He should have first asked if there is anyone else, and then confirmed you still love me?  As soon as Madhu made her love affirmation, the man assumed the second question's answer.  He didn't wait for an answer..
@Madhu coloring his face-.  I laughed so hard that my co-worker shook her had made a comment: She's at it again, that damn superstar called something like "KK or PK" on that Indian TV show is back in her life..

Responded by me
Zoe,
Thank heavens for that. There you have your RK as HUMAN and flawed. That he satisfies himself about weighing thoughts by assuming that B follows A. Atleast he is not that scheming to go for B  first and extricating A behind B. He is being naive about his assumption when it actually kills him every minute.

And dramatically speaking, that is the catch in plot construct. MAdhu is not getting it where that question is coming from, she is disgusted, here RK is happy like self-deluded fellow who took his wife's disgusting expressions as assent (which principally he understood correctly), and BAM, soon Sultan will come pointing gun at him...sending RK spiralling down...about what kind of an ass he was to assume that everything was hunky-dory. LOL

Responded by blacklambo
Have to admit, I was fighting the above approach in my mind and hoping against hope. Since the past 3 episodes, I am veering toward your POV.  I see a total imbalance now and something or someone has to restore their balance of love.  Madhu's love is pure and giving and RK's is possessive and taking kind. Swinging between normality and abnormality, sanity and insanity, and rational and irrational behavior, RK has changed the equation yet again.

Love Quotes by Angeena
I went searching for quotes the result being --

"Extinguish my eyes, I'll go on seeing you.
Seal my ears, I'll go on hearing you.
And without feet I can make my way to you,
without a mouth I can swear your name.

Break off my arms, I'll take hold of you
with my heart as with a hand.
Stop my heart, and my brain will start to beat.
And if you consume my brain with fire,
I'll feel you burn in every drop of my blood."

- Rainer Maria Rilke

"I desire to be with you. I miss you. I feel lonely when I can't see you. I am obsessed with you, fascinated by you, infatuated with you. I hunger for your taste, your smell, the feel of your soul touching mine."
- Jack Llawayllynn, Indulgence

"I will be with her again, or I will die. There aren't any other options"
- Julie Kagawa, The Iron Knight

"The truth was...he was in love with her. Totally over-the-line, no-going-back, not-even-dead-would-he-part kind of sh**."
- J.R. Ward, Lover Mine

"I wanted to see you again, touch you, know who you were, see if I would find you identical with the ideal image of you which had remained with me and perhaps shatter my dream with the aid of reality. -Claude Frollo "
- Victor Hugo, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame

"I'm not good enough for you. But no one is. And most men, good or bad, have limits to what they would do, even for someone they love. I have none. No God, no moral code, no faith in anything. Except you. You're my religion. I would do anything you asked. I would fight, steal, kill for you. - Kev to Win"
- Lisa Kleypas, Seduce Me at Sunrise

"I love you so much that nothing can matter to me - not even you ... Only my love- not your answer. Not even your indifference"
- Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead

Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. I say, fall head over heels. Find someone you can love like crazy and who will love you the same way back. How do you find him? Well, you forget your head, and you listen to your heart. And I'm not hearing any heart. Cause the truth is, honey, there's no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love, well, you haven't lived a life at all. But you have to try, cause if you haven't tried, you haven't lived.

My all time favourite is Anthony Hopkins quoted passage from the movie Meet Joe Black. Its my personal philosophy too.

I feel maybe the transition was too fast? They could have segued better...or maybe it's just me...but yeah today's epi was difficult to watch...Is it good writing when a character can GENUINELY disturb  you so much?  I'm sort of on the fence today.

AY,
@bold. Yes it is. I felt this yesterday. Like I had crisis mine yesterday. Very good back to back episode presentation. The episode director is Prasad Gawandi. The cast is really working hard. Very good acting by everyone. The direction, screenplay, the acting speaks up. I liked this scene best. Because anything this crazy man gives out to people other than Madhu, are the slightly disconnected ones and will let us guage, how far he is becoming unstable.

Note his manical intent with clarity ? He is willing to get charged into criminal case for his "aankhen Phodna act" should people stand there and watch his quarrel with his wife.
Though it may look all forced and ugly, but the sheer execution of fight going on for minutes/hours is actually so real. Because one goes crazy, the drama keeps going on for hours until the person mentally gets calm. The guy has lost it and is in all excitable state with going for only action and execution. He is just so frustrated with inaction and all images playing in his mind.

I feel the epi would have been a great one if not for the ending...they could have waited atleast ONE epi before throwing RK into INSTANT evil smirky/gloating mode, couldn't they have? The transition was TOO quick in my opinion...it basically NULLIFIES the whole knife scene just minutes ago which was a very CHARGED scene.

@Bold, I completely agree.  Things were still acceptable for me until the second question peeped its head on the screen which makes all of his motives questionable once again.  The scenes after the knife drama are just planting more seeds of doubt in regards to his intentions.  I don't know if it was added intentionally or just for the sake of high voltage drama, either way it distressed Madhu and the audience Confused Ouch

I did not feel it odd, because my head could see where that question of his was coming from. I cannot forget the Holi, the coloring, the anticipation thwarted,  Madhu's refusal to answer his questions and instead the questions posed by her, and all the images in his mind. Real images are just a day old in his mind whereas mental images are playing in mind since he saw Sultan's hand over Madhu's waist.  You should also check Pooja's (dramacrazy12) take for point 3, over page 8 here she explains this part.  I have explained in my take on page 9

dramacrazy12
An interesting episode...One that continues to underline the dilemma both RK and Madhu face.

RK's dilemma:- I do not know what I feel for her and why...I want to hate her and be done with it but she haunts my dreams. Her pain hurts me though it is supposed to give joy to me. I hate to see her in anyone's arms or vicinity but why should it even matter to me? She and Maa are asking me questions that I do not have answer to. Could it be that I have fallen in love?...no way ...I can never fall in love after what I have seen...I am never falling in love again...I am RK ...I gotta be strong...I cannot bow down in front of her. I hate myself for feeling so lost without her ...I need to make sure she never finds out how weak I am.  It hurts...it hurts...I am dying...(survival instinct kicking in )...I am going to get her back and keep her with me by fixing everything but I will never confess..First order of business get her home...I am RK ...is it not enough that I recognize her love and have given her the right to feel something for me.

Madhu's Dilemma: I have fallen in love with a dumb monster...I loathe myself. My heart won't let me move forward and RK's insanity won't let me stay. How can someone so loving be so evil...was all that truly an act? He is forcing me back in his home...this is what I wanted but he won't apologize...he won't confess...he thinks I am a toy he can play with. This is not what I want.  When I see him...all my heart remembers are love filled moments and then reality intrudes and all i see is evil smirk on his face at the unwedding. He calls all the humiliation he piled on me mere Nokjhok...how dare he? How I stay here ? How can I forgive him? It hurts ...it hurts...

Couple of things that I found interesting-
1) Madhu says that she would not forgive him even if he begged on his knees...I guess RK knows that too so he decided not to waste anytime asking for forgiveness and explaining himself to Maliks.

2)RK did seem to recognize that he had hurt Madhu badly...He does not know how to fix it so he goes back to RK's principal of life...tit for tat. He humiliated Madhu because she had humiliated him. He asks Madhu to hurt him the same way that he hurt her by inflicting the same amount of pain. I did not see hand cutting as a blackmailing ploy but an act of desperation to somehow move ahead from past (If only it were so easy?). When he was asking Madhu his first question, he was desperate and scared...you could almost see self-doubt, confusion, fear and desperation on his face. His eyes were teary not with physical pain but with the fear of being rejected. When Madhu confesses...he is back to his confident self ...he has won the first war...he still own the bond with Madhu and that is a good start.

3) I was confused with his question about blood and second question...they came across as manipulative questions but then I remembered how madhu had explained giving him blood. Madhu had stated that she gave him blood because she was sure if she would be hurt, he would have done the same. Somehow I thought it meant that Madhu saw some good in him and had some level of trust in him. Then he showed Madhu a monster in unwedding. I felt that maybe he was asking Madhu if she would still trust him and see good in him...consider him worthy of saving. Another ploy to discount the monster and move away from past. Now for second question-There is no doubt that Sultan weighs heavily on his mind...from his perspective he sees his wife laughing at some else's jokes, in questionable posture with him, she spends nights with him, she gives him the right to color her first and she colors him before she colors RK, She invites him to set, he threatens RK on supposedly Madhu's behalf, hje calls her up in night... yet she claims to love him...Rk...she melts for him physically. He has also judged that Sultan is falling for her. I thought he wanted to affirm that Madhu still loves him and him alone...It is not only jealousy that is driving him but also an attempt to assess where Madhu stands and what he will need to do to win her back completely. Ofcourse Madhu is disgusted because she is clueless as to how Sultan feels about her and how her actions in past have come across to Sultan. She thinks possessiveness and jealousy alone are driving RK.  I found it interesting that RK did not push Madhu when she did not respond to his second question or when she refused to end in his room...instead he reminded her that she had done grahpravesh with his blood and gave a evil smirk. I felt that the smirk was not for Madhu but rather Sultan. He has already started to plan the war he is going to wage with Sultan or rather to win Madhu back...he has an advantage because she is on his turf and apparently loves him ...too even if she denies it.

4)Madhu was spot-on with all her arguments. For the first time I really felt for her...she has fallen in love with an insane person...one she can't hold onto and one she can't walk away from. Somehow Rk reminds me of the king in Arabian nights...who would marry a new woman every night and behead her every morning because he had been betrayed by his brother and his wife.
