Episode 248 Discussion: 17th April 2013

The Hawa Hawaii Dance, The Conversation -That was me then, This is me now, Could you not forgive, forget and move on for our sake ? and The much needed Interruption.

Events of the episode
  1. Episode starts with RK Mansion family gathered at the Dining table. The two sons, RK and Sikky, the mother; Radhaji sitting at the table and the two Bahus Madhu and Dips on each side of RK. Sikky is trying to match with RK in everything, copies the way RK calls Biwi, he calls Dips as Wife. Its a hilarious scene and enjoyed better watching. Rk demands for kheer and Dips gets it. RK is intrigued and makes few observation about the kheer and deduces that Kheer was made by Dips and deliberately burnt by her to cause slight to Madhu. He asks Madhu never to heed to his Bhabhi's conspiracies and remind her she is his wife. Sikky asks RK to mind what he says about his wife, to which RK says that is what he Sikky to be doing. He leaves the place taking Madhu along with him. Enjoyable BBBing from RK to Dips and Sikky.
  2. Once RK and Madhu leave, Radhaji asks Dips if she deliberately burnt the kheer. Dips gets her out of the sticky situation by blaming RK that he is fond of saying all bad things about her. She calls RK strange and the proceeds to call Madhu even wierder for staying her against her will. She expresses, won't Madhu's family be wondering about her missing, to which Sikky informs her that Madhu lied to her mother as to the reason of staying. Dips starts to scheming.
  3. RK is driving the car and slowly starts to lighten the mood for Madhu. He starts talking about weather, about going for a date by cancelling his shoot. Madhu is not receptive and also advises him to keep quiet. Soon the car radio is heard with him dedicating a song, The Hawa Hawaii song from Mr.India, to Madhu. Madhu is irritated and switches off the radio. The on and off goes on between RK and Madhu, until Madhu asks him to stop it. RK stops the car, parks in a neighbourhood and starts dancing to the song. Very good dancing, acting by VD and DD. You can watch this cute portion in the video.
  4. After the dance ends, RK strikes a serious conversation with MAdhu. He starts asking why is she upset, and if she is upset because of his Dips Bhabhi. When is quiet he says, he is willing to shift Dips and Sikky to his Versova apartment, if she wants him to kick them out. Madhu takes the opportunity of calling him just capable of throwing people out of his life like he did with his mother and then her.
  5. RK asks her to forget that night, forgive him and move on. Madhu says he doesn't even know the meaning of what forgivesness means, forgetting hurts mean and how to move on. All he keeps in his dictionary is 100 words, one is ego, second is revenge and rest 98 are RK, RK and only RK. RK retorts to her that in her dictinary, forgiveness, forgetting and moving on is present. Does she even know the meaning ? Maybe not and instead let him tell her. He recounts how she explained those things to him in the context of his father's death and mother's remarriage. He was able to reconcile to the hurts through application and practising of the words and their meaning in his case. He also tells that he is willing to do the same with Dips, should she ask him. Madhu is taken aback at all this. RK asks her why can't she practise the same for themselves.
  6. They have an eyelock, mind it RK is still driving without seeing the road. In time, like JIT technology, Madhu sees someone standing in the middle of the road. Madhu shrieks and RK stops the car. Madhu recognizes it to be Sultan. Episode ends.

Episode Reviews

RK : Mausam bahut accha hai. Garma Garam Hawa, Tapti Dhoop aur yeh Khoobsurat sa sooraj ...

Reminds me that summer is progressing in India. Approve

Here in NYC its still 7 to 16 degrees in Celcius on average since last week. LOL

Very good commentary on weather. They are almost getting there...towards their 9 months of completion of their marriage/unwedding.

Today, I personally as a Viewer have been answered with lot of my questions until November and December. Thank you CVs for that. RK answered and questioned it for me.

Family Scene -Sikky-RK-Radhaji-Madhu-Dips :

Null Hypotheses: Is MEIEJ a Perfect antidote to Regular Saas Bahu Serials ?

  • Brother pulling each other's legs like kids
  • Brothers supporting their wives openly, defending them openly before mom
  • One Brother exposing his Bhabhi's conspiracy to all and yet no PANIC, long and close SHOCKED faces shots with high Voltage Music like regular Saas Bahu Saajish.
  • Wives not bitching about each other like regular Saas Bahu Drama
  • Saas not suspecting like regular Saas Bahu Drama
  • And one couple leavea and another couple having fun and want to have new plans.
Inference: this is a Family Drama, but not a Saas Bahu and Saajish. This is Maa-Bete and Saajish-Khulasa. Yes, it is a Perfect antidote to Regular Saas Bahu Serials.

There were interesting dialogues during this family scene which is no less than a circus. I had the same thrill as when young, we used to participate in School Stage dramas, and dances, where you make entries in the same manner as the four characters made entry in the opening scene.
RK : Biwi
Sikky : Wife
RK : Biwi
Sikky : Wife
RK: Biwi meri  Kheer Kahan Hai
Sikky: Wife  (RK hands over him Moonh ka Tala), Moonh ka Tala Kahan Hai ROFL

RK : Kamaal Hai. Biwi Chef aur Bhabhi Waiter. Bahut hi mind blowing combination
Dipali serves RK, but does not serve Sikky inspite of him asking her "Wife Yahaan Bhi"

RK: Ki Tum RK ki Biwi Ho. Panga na le ! Nahin toh Danga ho jayega LOL
Sikky: Ay RK, yeh meri Wife hai. Ise aisi Dhamki na de ROFL
RK: Exactly, Yehi Baat tumhe tumhaari wife koi samjhaane ki sakt zaroorat hai Approve and looking at Dipali and reaffirming with her, "zaroorat hai na ?" Clap

I liked the family scene, not just for entertainment, but because it later on gave something for RK to talk about which was more an answer to the Viewers. That indeed, he has an Apartment in Versova, where he can shift Dipali and Sikky there, just that he likes the jokers and the circus they create. He accepts that life around him is a circus and he is certainly the Master clown at times. Clown

ACRONYM IDIOT==> means I Do Ishq Only Tumse - courtesy Sikander Bhatia ROFL

Sikky had all ROFL dialogues and RK and Dips were prompting today. LOL

RK Wooing Madhu

New achievements
  • Him pinching her cheeks.
  • Her pushing him away and pushing his face away (full filmy style)
  • Hawa-Hawaii Song was ofcourse the highlight. VD danced very well, for the stocky man that he is, looked cute running around in that chedofying and manaofying style.
Naraazgi and attributing it to Dipali's jali huyee Kheer was just a conversation again through which RK was asking his Biwi, to forgive, forget and move on. Now I get it. Geek So he is BANKING on this attribute of Madhu and hence confident that he will win over her will about nothing to do with him in the one day chance that she gives him.  Hmmm!! Not my personal philosophy and now thanks RK for explaining where you learn that from. Your Biwi. LOL

Through that conversation, lot of ground covered on what lessons RK learnt from Madhu. About moving on by forgiving as "Let bygones be bygones"  from his Teen Dhoke perception vis-a-vis, his Dad, his Mom and even Dips. He accepts he applied that philosophy on his Dad, Mom and now even willing to apply on Dips, if Madhu asks him to.

Madhu: Maafi Dena, Maaf Kar Dena, Sab Kuch bhool kar Aage Badhna, yeh sab tumhaari Bas ke baahar hai, kyonki tumhaari dictionary mein sau (100) words hai. Pahla Ego, doosra Badla aur Baaki kai 98 RK, RK , RK...aur sirf RK.

ME: Seems the writers are not interested to stamp RK with anything else, as he is their Ace Card or the Joker that will pass off as everything. Geek

RK: Aur tumhaare Dictionary mein, Maaf Kar Dena, Sab Kuch bhula kar Aage Badhna. Jaanti ho iska Matlab ? Kah sakti ho ? Nahin. Main Kehta hoon.

ME: Very good comeback Clap

ME: Madhu, the "Haazir Jawaab" showed you the PITFALL of your lesson about "Let bygones be bygones" , which btw viewers like me have been advising you time and again that there is a limit to it...that you cannot force RK or anyone to reconcile in that lecturing/dictating manner rather than in explanatory and counselling manner. So now your husband with a live example he made of you; has taught you that limit, may be now you will know, what it takes to actually forgive, forget and move on. Its not easy practising it Madhu, not as easy as advising it especially for passionate persons. You had no answer to give today to RK. I am sure you won't be able to "forgive, forget and Move on" that with RK, unless he overpowers or overwhelms you with his love and devotion. I shall wait for that moment. For now Sultan YET AGAIN spoiled the moment for both of you. Not a problem !Smile

Precap : RK looked challenged and game for it when Sultan points the gun to his head. This man just loses all his senses when he sees something as game. He has big weakness for Game. Reminds me of the Ambulance scene for Balraj, where RK recognized the man as Paagal during the Party Dance and leaves the place as cannot be entertained for business and yet accepts his company for his crazy wits at manuvering Mumbai traffic through that Ambulance Idea. I remember how I made such a long post on his "Gaming weakness" then.

Interesting insights Shri. I absolutely agree with you on the quoted part.
RK turned the tables on Madhu and maybe this is the first real test for Madhu to see whether she can practice what she preached. All said and done, whatever has happened between her and RK has made her equal to RK. She has experienced real heartbreak and pain and should now be in a better position to understand RK's hurt and anger. This time, if she gives him a second chance, she will love him as a woman and not as a girl.
As discussed many times earlier in this forum, I see their relationship as Madhu's exploration of life, directly and indirectly, guided by RK.

Thank you JJ.

@red

I have been a proponent of this since October. I never never liked Madhu's kind of love for RK during those days. I used to support that track as logical progression only for Madhu to learn the PITFALLS of falling in love in INNOCENCE and gaining EXPERIENCE through hardships.  For the same reason, I never felt bad about RK's Test of Love and was only highly dissatisfied with PLOT EXECUTION of it.

Infact I must say, I love ST & Crew's cynicism, as they break Ideals through RK and then rebuild Realism through it.
The best that I liked is Ganesh Chaturthi sequence where RK gives it back to Madhu, saying keep your lectures to yourself, and I am not stopping you from praying. Madhu is left dumb-struck. Later, he loses himself to God on his own volition, the drums, the mayhem, the chaos, somehow beckons him to his Ganesha and he embraces him again.

The next best thing I liked was when RK asks his mother...Blind trust in God, but NO trust in yourself. Because this is how he saw his mother as Failure with regards to his Dad, herself, her love for her husband and her ability to be a single successful mother to RK, in those desperate times. Parents never remarry without asking their children. It is a must in good family.

The other best thing I liked was the way CVs used RK cynicism to break fallacies around Karva Chouth festival and how much commercialism and materialism is attached to the festival in the name of devotion. This he does through lambasting his mother and Dipali. Then he also mocks Madhu for fasting for a husband like him.  His message to viewers was so clear. But I doubt how many heard him.

It was during these times, I was asking so much, how come Madhu can just ask the man to forget, ignore and move on. What does she know of people. I wanted her to learn so much. But sadly she did not learn. She lectured the same things to Sultan.

The difference between RK and Sultan while falling for Madhu's lectures is that, RK teaches her back what she has missed in her preaching. Whereas Sultan just accepts the lecture from Madhu as if she is his priestess.

I have to really wait and watch, what kind of contrast and cynicism they are brewing for Sultan vis-a-vis RK. RK has always been a contrast to everyone in the show...like against Sikky as brother, against Dips as the jilt,  now against Sultan as the man who falls for Madhu.

Shri,

Absolutely loved the quoted post. Clap

@bold: This is the best thing they had done in the entire love track. I loved how RK brings in realism into everything, and puts people in their place. He doesn't heed to anyone's lectures, without showing them the mirror and giving them his piece of mind. I was one amongst those who liked the message that he gave out during the KC track.

Agree to all the other incidents you have mentioned.

That is what keeps me interested in this man and this show.

Random, late latif musings:
  • Coming to what SD said about Saas-bahu serials & RK breaking the mold by questioning tradition.  This week somehow I have been able to watch parts of other serials. In one, a husband gazes lovingly at his wife while she presses an elder's legs, and tells himself, he is lucky to have a wife who does so much seva for his family...cliched, respectful, progressive!!?? and of course in another serial, khichdi test.
  • Back to yesterday's episode, wonder how they got that expression of shock on Madhu's face when he pulled her cheeks. She looked horrified, almost like DD not like madhuLOL. I'm thinking...maybe they told VD to do it and kept it from DD, or maybe they told both of them but asked VD to do it whenever he thought it was convenient, without giving her a cue. It was cute, that moment, not stock TV serial expressions.
  •  I think I repeat myself when I say this. AN important part of the Madhu's humiliation happened in public. By this public display of roothna/manana, RK is in  a way 'trying' to undo the damage...dedication on radio, dance on road. Again, he has a long way to go, these are baby steps...hopefully, he will walk down the road completelySmile

Honestly, I don't think RK understands the depth of the anguish that Madhu experienced that night. Someone email him a link to that episode please!

Pnars...I do not think he underestimates the pain and anguish Madhu went through that night given that
1)He had strategically planned for it  and had even patted his back for suceeding in his plan
2)Madhu has said multiple times that she is broken and he seems to have a fleeting expression of embarassment at times
3)Madhu is the most forgiving person he knows, the fact that she is not giving him a second chance happily should be enough for him to know he has made a huge mess . One thing that RK was always good at was reading between the lines and tapping into emotional undercurrent.
4)He specifically refers to that night today

From his perspective what is done is done...there is nothing he can gain by dwelling on it.  Let me put it this way ...will a verbal apology be truly enough? how does that solve the problem? We might think it is a good start but honestly it is meaningless. It will only lead into discussion where they will keep going round and round to no true result.

He is trying to fix his mistake by making up to Madhu and asking for a second chance sincerely. He is hoping Madhu can see his regret in his sincerity. As for bowing down...he is doing it in his own way. Imagine what it must feel to an egoist popular guy like him to find out he has to resort to dragging his wife home and handcuff her keep her there. Or to dedicate a song on radio and dance mid street. Remember in village he had said his dance was worth millions ...today he made a fool out of himself to please his wife. He is confessing how much impact she has had on his life and how much he prizes her input (when he mentions throwing Dips out or forgiving her).

Also consider  the fact that all those years both Radha and Dips offered him multiple verbal apologies but they never meant anything to him because they could not fix what they had done ...to move on RK would have to accept the additional baggage that came as a result of thier actions.

In Rk's case ...he is not offering verbal apology because he understands how futile it is...he is trying to fix the issue and turn back the clock because there is no baggage as of yet that Madhu has to deal with. In fact it is he who will have to accept the baggage...Sultan and Aryan, Madhu's nights at Sultans and so on...

He would have come across even more sane and sincere but  Sultan's interference and Madhu's indecisiveness is driving him to wall. He ends up taking an extreme step. I don't think he ever wanted to kidnap Madhu, he had sincerely gone to talk to her and make a case but Sultan's phone drove him to dragging Madhu home.

The issue here is that the couple rarely get a chance to talk with each other honestly and air out thier concerns...there is just too much outside interference constantly pulling them apart.
Pooja,

Word it. Thumbs Up

Apology when one understands his guilt is useless, futile and insulting. There can only be penance, Prayaschit.  And that happens with actions.

I remember this movie "Saudagar" AB and Nutan one. How he jilts her, marries her to make money and then divorces her. That he is using her he already knows, but when he realizes what he did to HIMSELF in the process, it breaks his heart so much that...that he has no qualms about him going back to her, her husband and talks to him...says, I don't have a face to talk to her, but I just want to feel like a man; that merchant who used to sell that excellent jaggery, I just want that small happiness to see a satisfied customer. He is basically (without asking) giving the palm juice pot to Nutan's husband to request her to make jaggery, the one that used to be loved by people.

Its that moment, everyone has tears, even Nutan, who until that moment is like cauldron of fire.

Some actions in life are truly done in honesty and principle. But when those actions burn you and you don't have any issue realizing it, accepting before the same person, you are ready for your penance, you are ready to be given a chance, you are ready to be forgiven.

Remorse is just the way to realization. It cannot help anyone. When you need to see the result of your understanding your mistake, the guilt that you feel, you need to act on the correction, a penance to it by adding sacrifice of you towards regaining your happy state, whichever way it can be achieved.

Nutan lets go of her hurt as she hears him saying how NOTHING he feels about his existence and she happens to see his current wife for whom he used her, all that trickery, seeing tears in that woman's face, Nutan forgives and wants to forget everything.  When you do things for others in such a way that their happiness makes you feel satisfied, that is where you see life, a meaning to your existence.

But of course, perfectly timed as usual, entry of Sultan...umm how did he know which route they would take and what point to interupt?? Anyway, this antagonist/ not exactly villain/gangster with a heart...(so what is he, yaar, CVs make up your minds!!), stops the car.

Responded by Myself
That is what RK keeps asking Madhu every other day, "Kaun hai yeh Sultan ?"

Madhu who is MEIEJ Drama-runner-the CVs story driver, she doesn't have the answer, so keeps quiet to RK's question and only answers as she doesn't have any relationship with Sultan when RK=Viewers (sometimes) ask that question.

RK even asked Sultan "What is your name?"  Sultan just answered, Sultan. RK asked him "kahaan ka Sultan ?"  He answered Mumbai ka Sultan.

Tomorrow RK will ask again, What is your Full Name?"
Sultan will answer, "Aadha naam hi kaafi hai"

Though he did answer Madhu and Padmini that Sultan is his name and NO surname. LOL

he was never a villain. Villains aren't good at heart.
.Tane4ka @Tane4ka4U 22h @mrhegde
but I find it boring to be honest I think the show needs a strong villain someone like Balraj
.Gautam Hegde @mrhegde 21h @Tane4ka4U
the current story doesnt demand a Balraj type of a villain

Thank you.Smile
Let me give you my views for the red portion.

>>>>1)rk himself thats y she cud give him blood n pray for his well being.
[SD]:  Giving blood - is NOT forgiveness. Madhu would have given it to any human being. She infact saved RK once already in the studio accident.

>>>2)mallik for breaking her trust in him
[SD]:  Mallik breaking her trust - RK on whom that attack had been done, asked Madhu to forgive him, to forget. Nothing much to weigh over your head and heart.

>>>>3)trishna for watever she told her 2 days aftr the wedding...dey werent on tlkin terms for long
[SD]:  Trishna - not a case of forgivness here...more a case of logistics. Trishna was right in accusing MAdhu, because of Madhu their family suffers. MAdhu cannot deny it. No question arises of Madhu's forgiveness there.

>>>4)radhaji for not trusting her..
[SD]: Radhaji not trusting her - How can a mother trust a girl so soon, whose father has attacked her son 3 times. It takes time to make peace. Radhaji needed time and Madhu was giving that time to her while her husband was giving her support.

>>>>5)rk again for testing her love
[SD]: RK  testing her love - it is not a crime to test love between lovers and partners. The body hormones can handle that stress. Two lovers understand that and fight it out between each other.

>>>>n rk's case with mom n dad was not betrayal dat he needed to forgive it was an assumption of betrayal n the MU was sorted by madhu's advice...
remember he still hasnt forgiven deepali coz dat is betrayal n he cant forgive her..
[SD]Not a PERSONAL case for Madhu to understand. Madhu is not RK, does not think like him to understand what kind of hurt/betrayal he perceives, she can only understand in her way and present him with a view of the same thing from her window and suggest to RK...look the view from my window is different, may be you should take a look from here. And that is how RK looked even though, Madhu's lecture was not that subtle.

Hello everyone, Excellent reviews - as always.

I see many of you are feeling that RK is ignoring the real issues, and is trivializing reasons for Madhu's anguish. I have a slightly different take on this, I think it is his well-though out strategy to get Madhu to react (which she did) and have her vent out her feelings. He knows that Madhu needs to give an outlet to the bitterness she has suppressed inside. Until she spews out the venom, there will be no space for sweet nectar. Ever since the unwedding drama has happened, Madhu has built high walls around herself, she needs to address her pent up feelings and break the walls before she moves on.
Responded by Myself
JJ,
Totally agree.

Many think that first RK should win Madhu's trust and then think of second chance ..
I think it is the other way around.

RK cannot win Madhu's trust back unless he spends time with her, talks to her, or she talks to him .. There has to be constant meetings between them for that. How do you trust someone? By giving them a small responsiblity or secret and then checking to see if that person proves himself worthy by keeping that faith you bestowed. Meaning Madhu has to first gve RK something which will help him prove his trustworthiness. Or he will have to make some promise, which he keeps faithfully. In either scenario, Madhu has to give him that chance first.

And for that RK had to force Madhu to meet him, talk to him, spend time with him .. Because Madhu by herself would not have done something like that, willingly.

Agree Angeena.  Thanks for that note. It was time peeps needed that reminder of how trust is gained. Clap

I am not saying forgive him or trust him easily again. I am not saying be soft, weak or vulnerable. The question according to me is not whether she can trust RK this time to be sincere enough to give him another chance. The question is does she trust herself enough and completely to give RK a chance knowing that it can go either way.
This is not about Padmini, Radha, Sultan or even RK. This is all about her trusting only her, having the confidence and mindset to walk into this again, however with her eyes open this time.
That is what is the gist of it. Everything else is bells and whistles. Whether RK should say sorry or not, whether she should act hurt or angry or loving or not is secondary, almost immaterial.
Past history is no guarantee for future performance.
Responded by Myself
MM,
When you will watch the episode today, you will see that RK actually INJECTED into her Two injections of Self-Confidence. He accepted that
  • her lessons  let him get healed of Hurts though his Parents
  • and that he is ready to forgive Dips if she asks him (Please note that forgiving Dips is partly the right of Madhu as his wife also, because his forgiving Dips will not be a default immunity of slights from Dips time and again about her rubbing of having been RK's GF) and also shift her to a different Apartment (as Dips keeps bothering her with indecencies).
Madhu was telling him to his face, how he broke her trust, her heart and her self-confidence.  So he gave her something that she can take pride in...as in she has not lost everything. She did change the person...like she had promised to him..."main tumhaare andar ka zeher nikaloongi".  He basically showed her that atleast this much poison has been sucked out per your wish.
She did seem astounded on his confession, that she had that effect on him. See, she was quite okay about him not acknowledging ever about her efforts...but that ack meant something to her.
My opinion. Smile
