Episode 170 Discussion: 15th Jan 2013

RK-Radhaji ka Patch up and Dips-Madhu-RK ka Break up continued.

Events of the Episode
  • RK and Radhaji reconciliation achieved.  RK reaches the temple where Radhaji is praying. He calls her "Maa". Radha is elated. She sees RK's wound and wants to take him to the doctor, but RK stops her and tells "Main Thak gaya hoon". As RK puts his head over his mother's lap, Radhaji just asks him to keep quiet and sings the lullaby to put him to sleep like he used to be her kid. The lullaby is the Chanda Hai Tu song from Hindi 70's movie Aradhana.
  • When later he wakes up, they discuss what went wrong between them, as in how he felt decieved/cheated for himself and his father when his mother remarried and Radhaji explains, how that was just a reason to give him a father figure and how she regrets taking that decision. She further tells him how she waited all these years, but hope to be with her son was given only by Madhu. RK remembers Madhu's various trials. Radhaji asks Rishabh to never let anyone endanger what he has with Madhu as God has brought Madhu into his life. RK suddenly realizes he cannot stand defeated, but go back to Madhu and win her acceptance at any cost. As he gets up with resolve, his mother asks where he is leaving to. Without telling her anything, he just takes her blessing and leaves the temple.
  • There in RK mansion, Madhu is waiting for RK. As she hears footsteps, she thinks it is RK, but it turns out to be her Bhabhi Dips Bhatia...who has come with a tray of chocolate, whiskey and vodka. She offers it to Madhu as a medicine to allay her pain given by RK for the love test he has taken. Madhu then gives her mind to Dips saying, she need not concern herself between what goes in between the husband and wife and that they can take care of themselves. She asks her to stop consuming liqueur and better take coffee to wake up from empty dreams of her.

Pictorial Commentary- By  Zorica over Page 6

By Myself

Well I wanted Madhu to give a tight slap to Dipali. But that can happen only in my imagination, so why tax poor Madhu. But if I were in Madhu's place, I would have thrown the plate of chocolate and whiskey and vodka...all smashed to the floor.

First things first...what a horrible cocktail combination to have chocolate with either whiskey or vodka. Well ...the far that you can go is chocolate with cognac and even that is sort of horrible !!! what happened to Dipali's sophisticated taste ?????

Now my respites...thodi si bhadaas meri, thodi si khundas meri kam hui. Madhu ko akla aa gayi and she showed the door to Dips Bhatia. Waise...construction wise, it came to full circle. Dips tried to sell Madhu the idea that RK is terrible guy then with money and now with false show of support.  She was an idiot that day, she is an idiot today. And now the dialogue writer better give Dips her punchline "Main Aisi tho na thee" something like that...I have to see her in a nincompoop status for few days to have my complete bhadaas out of the system. Make a lampoon of her pleeease...for living in her bubbly dreams.

My line for the day
RK-Radhaji ka Patch up and Dips-Madhu-RK ka Break up continued.

And hurrah!!! My thoughts validated and wishes granted by CVs. I am on 7th cloud !!!

Pati Patni ki Privacy was the theme of the day. Lade, Mare, Jhagde, Test le, all jaayez between Pati and Patni...Teesre ka  beech me aane ka koi haque nahin.
Bhagwan ka baanaya hua rishta hai...Respect karo uski, Maano usko aur sambhaalo.

Chalo...I am not that happy with the drama...but at least, its proceeding in logical progression.

And lastly towards 100 years cinema commemoration, we have Chanda Hai Tu song- from - Movie Aradhana, played when Radhaji sings that lullaby when RK wants to sleep in her lap.

I have to say, plot wise I am happy that CVs chose to catch any ride to have RK fix his insecurities by making peace with them...as in accepting the facts and letting the grudge go. So in that sense with this "test of love" start-revelation revisited, it has achieved:
  • RK reconciliation with his mother,
  • RK-Madhu proper Break with Dips,
  • RK insecurities turning to sand rather being clay stuck to him
  • Madhu, fulfilling her promise to Rads regarding RK,
  • Padmini and Shamsher marriage and Trishna movie launching story started to have Balraj back.
So today, while I was okay with RK calling Radhaji "Maa" and "sleeping in her lap" as Madhu promised that to Radhaji, dramatically it was far too contrived.

My grudges with today's drama are:
  • How did RK know where to find Radha at that time ? It was plain TAPAKNA into scene.
  • Then we just have "Maa Main Thak gaya". Sorry! but it did not strike any chord within me. I mean I cried when Trishna melted and both sisters embraced each other. But seeing this maa-beta milan, it was like..."aaja beta scene jaldi khatam kar...phir tuhje Madhu ke paas bhi jaana hai"
Then again NO Complaints from the scene.
because, it seems MEIEJ CVs have 50-50 mind to use and drop Kuku-Sikky. Hence, they are in a rush for the reconciliation between Maa-beta, without much talk on their past, so that they can retire Kuku and Sikky just like that. And if need be called back again, then we have Radha's character, which was way too callously sidelined by CVs into not acting as the REAL MOTHER. Which mother actually when loving her husband's memories and when son actually treats her as everything will actually think that her son's father can be replaceable just like that. That's plain CLUNK.  And like Dipali Clunk, Radha clunk will go on as needed vehicles for the drama.  Soap world realities.

Concluding thoughts
Today, they kept it crisp between mother and son, that maa and godi mein sona like olden times. And nothing else was revealed that we do not know of or are curious. So it was not at all any development and just denouement towards some other drama coming up...and this is what keeps intriguing me. It is something that shall happen to Rishbala after Balraj drama.

Maa-Bete ka maha boring milan!!!!!

But all said and done, Shama Deshpande and VD were too good...

RK let go of all his grudges. How long can one hold it against ones mom, however weak woman she is. She might not be an exemplary as a mom but the fact remains is that she is his mom.. RK forgot all that happened in the course of 17 years n patched up. The only question he asks is why she got remarried n she states it was to bring back the father's love that he had lost in his life...Am glad she admitted in front of him that it was a huge mistake on her part... But what is done cannot be undone esp an act like marriage... RK has finally moved on!!!

The most interesting thing to watch out is how long will their r'ship hold fort, the other Bhatias reaction to this development esp, Kukku's and Dipzy's... And this might  reveal to us  the details of the events in the span of 17 years...

Madhu-Dipzy scene was fadoo... As i told in y'days EDT, Madhu ka keher barasna shuru ho gaya hai Dipali par... Obviously, this was to happen as she threatened the very foundation of her r'ship with RK... Madhu's "sharab chodkar coffee peena shuru kardo... hosh mein rahogi to sachchai dikhegi warna sapno mein  hi bhatakti rahogi was akin to a slap"... Can we have some more like this, till mujhe thoda sukoon mil jaaye?

I knew yday, I would love the Maa-Beta scene and it will be for the actors. Both of them were awesome.
As usual Radha disappointed me… but RK's vulnerable state moved me to tears. Watching a man of with that physic crumble saying 'main thak gaya hoon, maa' was heartbreaking. Imagining the pain this man has carried with him for years is gut wrenching. As he stood there, he didn't know where his life was headed. He had everything planned till an hour back; he was going away from everything that was fake according to him with a woman he loves who was willing to walk down any path aslong as he was with her. All his problems would be done away with; he will be relieved of all his aches and pretence. But, his soulmate closed his escape route(thank god!) and suddenly the fatigue of all the years caught up with him… he conceded, he was tired! But he found renewed energy the moment his mom told him that his relationship with Madhu is his destiny and blessed by the almighty and he shouldn't let anyone spoil it. He walked away to give love and life another chance. That is what I love about this guy, he is willing to give it his all, yet again even though it comes with its share of insecurity. There is a difference between trust and insecurity. He trusts Madhu with his life, but he is insecure. Madhu needs to understand and so does he… Madhu has won his trust it is upto him to overcome his insecurity.
There were some beautiful moments in the Maa-Beta scene. RK trying to mouth the word 'maa' was epic... the word was at the tip of his tongue… a word that comes so naturally to all of us was a earth shifting moment for RK.  VD captured the hesitancy so well. The hug ofcourse was done well(would have liked Radha gather him in her arms than the other way around. But them again it is Radha we are talking about!)  The moment he put his head in his mom's lap was beautiful. She lulled him to sleep with a song. I wish she had insisted on going home and putting him to sleep… the man needed to sleep… everything else could have fallen into place a few hours later.
Now to coming to my complains with Radha… she was as self-centred as ever! It hurt more because I was wishing she would be different after she got her son back.
1)     Why did her hand stop midway and withdraw when she saw RK bleeding?  So what if he refuses her again??? She was thinking of his refusal when she needs to be thinking of his wound??? It was only after he hugged her and called her 'Maa' did she ask him what happened.
2)     Doesn't she care to find out what happened that this guy showed up at the temple, searching for her and allowed himself to shatter infront of her? She asked him once… but did she get through to him to unburden himself? No! Thankfully she held him for a while as he slept (calmed down) and then went to her dukhi kahani of having waited for him, prayed for him! She said something like he should have seen beyond his anger and hurt, she was always there! I fail to understand how a mother chose to wait in the side-lines as her child suffered and destroyed himself every minute of his life.
3)     It was so evident something was terribly bothering him and just like he showed up, her son took her blessing and headed off for something very important. What would be a normal reaction? Worrying what was bothering her child again… but na… she was relieved/ecstatic that she got her son back. I am sure she will head back to danka marofy and tell Madhu forgetting to ask again what was her son worried about!
To her credit, the one good thing Radha told RK was to hold on to Madhu… she is the blessing in your life, our lives! I feel sorry for RK, this is as good as RK will get it comes to his mother. And I will be ok if RK is able find some peace after reconciling with his mom. However, I am glad Padmini is there to shower him with what he misses out.
The Maa-Beta scene gets a thumbs up for brilliant portrayal of vulnerability of child infront of his mother. Both the actors gave one of their best performances today.
Madhu-Dipali scene was crisp and to the point. I loved Madhu's attitude, she didn't mince words or sugar coat anything. The strength of her character shone through. Madhu's stance today and hopefully forever was Dipali's failure. Madhu not shedding loads of tears is a major relief.
Precap… Hmmm lets see what is in store! As much as I believe RK owes Madhu more than a sincere apology… I didn't like seeing him defeated, vulnerable, asking (almost pleading?!?) to be accepted. May be the 'I hate you' will get him fighting for his love with conviction and passion

Tanu,
Loved reading your post. Smooth flow.  Re your thoughts above Radha as the mother, I have say much of it is clunk and not her real character.
