Episode 138  Discussion: 4th Dec 2012

Episode Events

RK comes to break Madhu's fast. Fast and KC Taam-Jhaam completed, Madhu faints, Doctor is called. Doctor puts Madhu on IV drip to rehydrate her and promises to send the blood report later in the morning. The Bhatias are upset and indulge in another round of calling Madhu a Drama ki Dukaan who made RK a Joru Ka Gulaam to keep Rads within their camp. Now I wonder, why are they trying so hard to keep Rads in their camp, when just a moment ago RK awarded them all with Mrs Kuku Bhatia and Performing Arts Nautanki Gang award, which meant basically he did not need Rads in his camp. So was all that drama so Rads does not befriend Madhu. Idiots! Don't they understand that befriending Madhu is all they have as a choice if they can be given a choice! if you ask me. Must watch episode for Rishbala moments, the story, the dialogues, the acting, the Fun and the overall entertainment.

Episode Review

So without a doubt episode gets an A. Right ?  The CVs are having the last laugh on us today for telling them how they are being slow and all. If this much of build-up was not done, would we have enjoyed the show? as much as we enjoyed today ?

Its going to be a long one...because I just wrote it in all remembrance of the episode with pleasure. Not much of an analysis, but wrote like I wanted to remember this.

I. Kuch Mat Boliyega, Bittuji, Mera vishwaas Nahin tootega

Madhu sees his tears and asks Bittuji to not say anything. Its like she did not want an ounce of negative energy from her well-wishers. So she asked him to not to say anything at all. She is already into the Deewani Phase with complete conviction in something she believes in. 

Preet ki Lat Mohe Aisi laagi, Ho Gayi Main Matvaari

Bal Bal Jaaon apne piya ko, yeh main Jaaon vaari vaari

Mohe Sud Budh Na Rahi Tan Man ki, Yeh To jane Duniya Saari

Anyone who had doubts about Madhu's junooni love for RK, his doubts are dispelled now with the song played to express her psyche now. Beautiful !

Liked it how RK remembers her beautiful empathy filled eyes for him when she was correcting the collar as he looks at the jacket. Liked it that he did not decide to go back to her remembering her pain in the same jacket scene, although I would not have minded it. But it goes to show that RK in his utter honesty towards his wife's Karva Chauth ka Vrat, did not go back to her as a human feeling towards the pain she was undergoing with the ill-health, but rather was going back to her because her empathy, warm regard for him beckoned him to her. The wife should get back her husband and so RK decided to go back to his wife to complete her vrat. Liked how RK also realized that he too has to submit to Madhu considering her belief, her junoon is as equal to God beckoning him to relent. All by the end of the song...Yahi Ishq ki Marzi Hai , Yahi Rabb ki Marzi hai

Beautiful !!!

How poignant was that ?!

Her wonderment at her own belief coming true, that indeed He is there in front of her.

Her happiness that, indeed he had come to break her fast.

Her gratitude that inspite of his own principles, he came back just for her.

There was depth indeed in how she understands her husband and how she delves in to know him in all totality. And he had to say that...There were only two Ziddi, Him and God and how come She joins their league now.

II. The sense of humour that binds Rishbala and explains the Bhatias.

The Bhatias

Humour. The humours of our life that let us express ourselves and get going with our lives. We also call it humouring ourselves from our daily grind to live through it. The Bhatias have their own sense of humour to get going in their daily ups and downs. When their faces fell upon the defeat that Madhu's 40% husband has indeed come, they draw out another weapon in form of humour from their kitty. They indulge in yet other mockery of the husband and wife. According to Dips Bhatia, energy to keep a fast comes when one is 7 phero waali Biwi like her and not a 4 phere waali Biwi like Madhu. LOL !!! She cannot stop that chanting that right ? Even when RK came to finish his wife's vrat. She never will stop.  And the Joru ka Gulaams sitting at home doing nothing, have awarded RK with a new title Joru ka Gulaam. RFOL!!!

So basically, who are they humoring ? Themselves or us ? At each defeat they convince themselves in their make-believe that they are still the residing judges to judge RK and his Biwi for their actions. Bin Bulaaye Mehmaan doing Ulti Ganga Bahe such as Ulta Chor Kotwaal ko Daante.  Besharmi Ayyashi Jab Had se bad jaati hai, Woh din door Nahin, jab Woh Apna hi Mazaak banaane pe Majboor ho jaayen. Sings who ? Sings Shridevi. Cool!!!  That happened to the Bhatias when they entered RK's room just to show their presence as courtesy requirement. They got rewarded with RK Sense of Humour.  It was at doorstep when the Doctor said, Mein Kal Subah Blood report Bhejta hoon. The blood report is going to show what toxicated Madhu's stomach. We are actually going to see when Deepali again tries to get at Madhu...as shown in the Precap scene. Apne hi mooh ke bal giri. Khwaab mein bhi na socha hoga aisa uska sach baahar aayega. RFOL!!!

Rishbala

I am more interested to talk on RK and Madhu's sense of humour and how much it binds them close. He tries to be cynical. And she is such an open slate. His sarcastic humor is always registered by her and she answers him in her simplicity with all directness. She may not be joking and entertaining as RK, but when she answers him, she always travels all depths over his sense of humour in any context and returns the repartee in equal jest-filled manner. It touches RK in every way giving him a thrilling excitement...almost close to him being bamboozled by her. He is always taken aback by her the way she reads him. And what amazes him is that she rarely tries to show off. And this feeling...this deception of Madhu...her coming out in surprise package in her repartees, always erodes his cynical cover. And both are still happy to keep the pretence of him being the sarcastic guy and she as just as any naive girl who can be bull-dozed by RK. I must say high regard for each other's intellectual capacities. Actually this is where RK likes to romance with his wife. He is so proud of her in those moments. VD reflects RK's pride for his child-like wife in these moments perfectly. The spark in the eye, the tiny meeny movement of the jaw, the lips...the face looks like it just swelled in huge pride for his wife.

If anyone did not understand where did all that happen in the episode or what is the reference to context...it is all Madhu and RK interaction...Taam Jhaam, Madhu's expressions, RK's actions, jhoot bologi...karele ka juice...Senti, Main RK hoon. Apne Udhaar bhi Aphe upar nahi rakhta, Phir tum kya cheez ho Biwi, AaHaanh !, Utna tez to chal raha hai ki tumhaari Dil ki baat samajh sakoon, Karzaa Utaar rahe ho, Madhu-lisa...

The increasing Intimacy of knowing in terms of body language

Did you see all the ceremonious completion of the Vrat. How RK was unconfortable. He wanted to see her, but was so shy. And she sensed his discomfort and yet finished her act, especially the "Tikaa lagaana" and she was even openly smiling. Madhu's smile never stops when she is adoringly looking at RK. And superliked when RK did not allow her to touch his feet to take his blessing. That was so good. Seriously it is not even required when the wife is gifting her present to her husband through her prayers to God.  And that ssshh Kuch Nahin hoga tumhe...it was more for himself rather than her. And why did he take her to his side of bed ? He did see her Mehndi and finally the gushing warmth for her when he touches her face in her sleep. Earlier he could not keep his hands for long as Biwi was awake but later in sleep, he feels her "stupid" wish of keeping vrat for him in such an endearing manner as if he was trying to take away all the tears she must have shed during the day when he yelled at her. 

And today Madhu actually said the same thing that once AA mentioned here. He presents her the greatest torment and yet gifts her the greatest happiness.  

They always manage to create their own pvt world even as they live and spend their moments right in front of Bittuji and the unwanted Bhatia Clan. And this is through their passion expressed through their eyes, hands and the way they speak to each other, both verbal and non-verbal expression. When Radhaji enters the room...Madhu senses the growing agitation and tension in RK and tries to restrain him. He just lifts his forefinger and warns her to stay out of it. He couldn't be soft to her with the surging anger towards the clan. Did you see how he shirked her hand away?  And he bull-dozes the unwanted clan in his room. I mean how much they have started to understand themselves with body movements.Loved how he kept her hand in his hand so that he does not miss a single twitch of hers in his sleep.

I liked how the show creatives have created an RK who does an actor-showtime-filmiduniya speak. He is always comparing real life situations to movies scenes or film-world dynamics. The way he said...Bittuji, bring all the awards and present this clan with Best Mother, Best Actress in a Supporting Role etc. They added even the Colors GPA, Best Bhavuk Personality...

The language reminds, how our daily life and the language we use goes through occupational hazard. I incorporate so much of my stock market and FIX protocol speak in my daily language.

And some passing remarks.

When Bittuji is taking a pic, the way RK looks at him 

It was funny to see RK's beard in varying sizes over the entire length of the episode. Sometimes it was clean, sometimes it was stubble. I did not like when Madhu calls out "Maa". Was that even needed Madhu ?
