Episode 212 Discussion: 6th March 2013

Bemisaal Budhwaar - Avinesh Rekhi's grand entry-Dolphin style and Madhu's Gallantry-rescuing a handicapped boy from goons-CVs-Clunk exceeds tolerance-Is it a stupidity or a Strategy ?

Events of the Episode
  1. Madhu  wanders away to forest all alone lost in thought. Sees a child whose hands and legs are tied and left to sprawl on jungle floor.
  2. M rescues the boy and runs, while the boy's captivators siren themselves off her as she now has the boy.
  3. Cat and mouse game continues between M and those captivators. Meanwhile a man (Avinesh Rekhi), I shall call him New Entry (NE) for ease of narration, catapults out of the lake like a flying fish. His body, chiselled, tattoo on his back is shown. He magically gets a shirt from the wind, yes in literal sense, dons it.
  4. M is almost ambushed by men, but NE comes and asks M to give away the boy. M refuses. And meanwhile the men start firing. M runs away with the boy, NE takes care of the men; as in we are shown that he shot them.
  5. NE finds M, asks for the boy, M refuses, NE holds her my her neck, M bites his hand and runs again, but unfortunately hits a tree and faints.
  6. In parallel people at the shooting location are searching for M. RK and Bittuji roaming around in jungle, Padmini and Trishna worried, Radhaji reaches chawl and informs that missing Madhu has been reported with local police.
  7. M wakes up in a well made bed in the one of the rooms of the big house. An old man comes with food and offers it to her to eat. M keeps asking him for info, the old man is tight-lipped. He leaves, M tries to leave the room, NE blocks her entrance.
  8. Later further into night, M steals out, tiptoes into the boy's room and drags him out of sleep to run away from there. The boy refuses to go. M insists, picks him up. As she tiptoes into mainhall, NE switches on the lights, knowing that she will do this.
  9. The old man comes forward to take the kid. M does not let it happen, instead pulls the gun from old man's pocket and aims at NE. NE comes forward and dares her to shoot.
  10. The boy makes some movements causing M to pull the trigger. Episode ends.
  11. It was 45 minutes maha episode with 25 minutes content. Its not as linear as I narrated. When u watch it u will see the visual disconnects, bloopers and illogical construction.
Episode Reviews
My Take 1
So was it an extended episode ? It was 25 minutes drama.

Didn't the scene just randomly start with Madhu walking in the jungle in the night ?!! Wierd beginning...when from last two episodes they repeat 1-2 minute drama of previous episode. But of course there was so much of drama to be shown!!

Madhu rescuing the boy, missing the gunfire. Madhu truly would have been the case for the President's Bravery Medal of honour...the one they present on Republic Day.

Madhu was praying for help from Bappa. And Bappa sent AR. Like the piranha or anaconda splashed out of the water..

How did he get his shirt on ??!!!!

Anyways more action drama.

And today yet again, Madhu seemed such a dumbo. She is really crazy in crazy situations. No one can predict how dumb  she can get. As in holding men by their vests, collars...an in what's with Madhu...deciding to collide with men. I am getting sick of this trait in Madhu. And seriously if the showmakers keep higlighting this trait, I may have no other option left than to be degrading the show. Or the CVs should start showing me that Madhu has this consistent crazy trait to go for wrong men.

Sensible girls after a time, when caged, sense something wrong...but yeah this is heroine, bollywood types, so gets to yell and hold men to her rants and yet she gets picked up and be deposited nicely on the bed and not slapped hard for her untimely audacity.

After 16 minutes of drama, another  set of shoddily directed scenes. Bittuji's dialogue of "Abhi tak Chief ko nahin bataya" while talking to Trishna was misplaced, because next minute we have RK and Bittuji wandering in the forest searching for Madhu. RK doesn't want Police to be involved and here Trishna is talking to Police. Well as a concerned family member, I would have done the same. Sudhakar comes and tells that report can be filed after 24 hours and next minute Radhaji with her super power tells Padmini and Trishna that compaint has been made. Where?!!

And rest of the drama...whatever !!!  I just disliked Madhu's character today. Very repugnant. I mean bravery with sense - FINE. Without SENSE - Indigestible. The boy was sleeping in peace. Can't she think for 2 minutes about where she is...Why act in such a haste ? What power or skill she has to tackle a man who is stronger than her, has held her captive and seems to be playing with Guns. Won't you think for 2 minutes ?Question Why couldn't Madhu have been like Marilyn Monroe instead. Would have made so much more sense with all those men flocking around her.

Very repugnant episode. I just don't know if it was really needed for the plotline. Even here, the man seems right and Madhu seems wrong. How come this woman keeps giving me all wrong vibes. And those defending her today against my comments, pls tell me if you were in the situation, how far would you act like that ? What's with CVs to play with Madhu's character as they like it...Gosh!!! Give a break !!!

By the end of the episode, Madhu sure looked to be posthumous candidate for Bravery award.

On the other hand I liked all Avinash Rekhi scenes.  He seemed in control and was poised. And yes, obviously for the gangster, his biggest dilemma at this moment is whether to let go Madhu scot free for saving the boy's life or kill her for getting to know him, his son and his location. Ofcouse this is my audience knowledge.

Episode Take 2 - Stupidity? Or was it a masked Strategy by CVs ?
No doubt that we all witnessed stupidity established beyond any doubt in today's episode. I would not like to repeat what every one may have already felt.

But the more I think on it...thoughts run like this...

I was not upset with Sultan/Avinesh Rekhi and my entire focus was on Episode Editing, Madhu and all the OLDER characters of MBVerse and their response to new drama. I actually liked AR's scenes. He seemed the ONLY SANEST in today's episode. Even RK went crazy, so did Padmini, Trishna and Radhaji looked apprehensive, but Trishna doubting RK is behind this and yet not voicing it atleast showed some sense.
  • Who would even dare to kidnap Sultan's son ?
  • And why would ME of all people TRUST ST and His team. When they show PURE CLUNK, they are quick to turn the tables on us for buying the Clunk. As it is they churn out thriller episodes.
  • Who would dare to fight with Sultan ?
To my mind, it all seemed that Madhu was the ONE actually BEING SET UP today.

But again the clunk is, who would have thought Madhu would have wandered off alone?

But again, may be that's why the creep was after Madhu, so that he can make her run into the woods all alone...just that RK spoiled his plan by coming a day earlier than expected.

If I had been in Madhu's place, I would atleast; for few minutes; would have kept quiet, thought about it and review things around me. Even if we have the courage and on the side of RIGHT, there are only few things that we can do. If we have to lose, let it be so. Rules of the Jungle. Survival First. She could have handed him the boy or before handing over the boy, asked him who was he. You know some kind of talking with the opponent to psychologically disbar his motives for few minutes.

This could be a PAINTED CLUNK DRAMA to establish Madhu's stupudity, endanger RK in some manner and then all drama falls in place.

As I think more on it, the CHANNEL producers, the production house, its creatives, seriously would not have invested themselves and their money for creating 45 minutes drama (actual content being 25 minutes) had they not believed in it.

So far I see this Net Result:
  1. Everyone(viewers) was able to trace back Madhu's stupidity to June episodes. So that trait is again brought back. Without this tracing back, it would have been extremely difficult for them to convince fanatic lovers of Madhu that she is one who started all that stupid drama with RK and even RK went crazy in trying to teach her a lesson. The creatives is team of men and women, so they too know that giving bangles, slapping and shaving a man, smiling wierdly when your hubby is fighting with goons, do not necessarily display a poised mind.
  2. RK's RKesque image is washed away a little bit with stupid dialogues, whereas New Entry (other than being a flying Don, like a Dolphin) held poise on his face. When RK was introduced as bad guy against Mukund Dikshit, everyone liked RK and MD had no chance...the CVs had to retire him even if they had a story to tell.
  3. This new entry does mark his presence better than Mukund Dikshit. No wonder Dipali (through the creatives) were trying to remind us Mukund Dikshit in yesterday's episode. And Madhu remembers even today, I guess.
  4. Now we do like RK, he is not a Doodh ka Dhula, but still we have a soft corner for him. But inwardly we also feel that Sultan might actually wield more power than RK. However saving grace is that in October, the CVs showed us that RK did not crow down to the supposed Sultan's threats where as Bittuji was all scared. So there seems to be a little madness from RK end as well that he can take a stand against Sultan
  5. There is definitely something cooking in Sultan's mind that he using Madhu as bait to trap RK.
  6. This matches with Indresh Mallik's tweet that Sultan is back in RK's life. Mind it ...he did not tweet in Rishbala's life like TOI or other media.
  7. The CVs are also people like us. Even they hold logic in their heads. If we could have seen stupidity at so many places, how can they have missed it and keep showing it for 25 minutes in 45 minute Bemisaal Budhwaar episode with so many promos. Why would they risk it unless, they needed to bring forward perceptions on OLD characters that we viewers may have forgotten about since September to January.
  8. So it was all purposeful stupidity for the existing set of characters, reminding us how drama starts in MBVerse, as in it always has to be Madhu who establishes new plotlines with her questionable acts, from there other people showing crazy feats becomes acceptable to us viewers and a strong/poised image for AR entry so that this time viewers are just left with BEGGING the CVs, that he can do anything with anyone except LIFT Madhu like he lifted today and deposited on the bed. That was ULTIMATE THREAT by CVs to us viewers that we should behave and accept AR drama and they shall keep the promise of Rishbala being always there for each other.

That's my take from the episode...Will believe in this...until proven wrong by future turn of the episodes.

it totaly looks like the kid was just bait for madhu...but then, as you said, the who , what , where, why & how is very clunky...and i wonder if the CV's are expecting us to make the connection between the earlier Sultan that threatened him and this Sultan...because i totaly had forgotten till now...

Don't know Syl.

If they expect us to make the connection or not, but going by Indresh Malik's tweet and the name Sultan, I definitely think myself entitled to make the connection.

You know what...everyone, in the ED thread, you in your post, even EML, we have all remembered the June plotlines. Is that's grossly coincidental  ?

And the new promo...God!!! How could RK even walk up the Chawl steps and even come down without people raising their eyebrows after what he committed in the Chawl drama of Feb 11th.

That's why I am saying ...turning the tables ...has become a strategic tool for CVs of MEIEJ. They plant unseen seeds in terms of crucial events and grow never-seen before plotlines to have that beautiful foliage of drama.

shri,
we guys know that the kid is sultans son and we sort of were expecting his entry, but for the trp audience, they are totally clueless, and they sure will tune in tomorrow to find out whats happening, that is why cv's have left it vague and without explanations.
For the trp audience, madhu just wandered into the forest and tried to save a bound child from gun yeilding goons and sultan is apart of the goons. In that high adrenaline chase of fight and flight, how could she think with her brains in that split sec,all she knows is to protect the child in amateur ways she knows.Period.

When I watched the episode I did not see it from the point of view of the child being Sultan's son. I was just seeing Madhu as the daughter/sister of some family. Because everyday I am not only responsible for myself, I am also taking care of myself for my family.

On that note...yes saving a child is brave deed. Watching the drama I had these two feelings.

  • I add her to the list of President's Bravery Award medal of honour for saving the child. These awards are presented to people on Republic Day. I was not being sarcastic when I mentioned it in the ED thread.
  • By the end of the episode, Madhu sure looked to be posthumous candidate for Bravery award. Again I was not joking. Watching the R'Day functions since childhood, I used to listen to the bravery stories of the survivors and those who died in that feat.
Did you read Arms and the Man, the play by G B Shaw. The way he writes about the Cavalry charging against Gun-Powder holding Army ? Its just that inspite of how gallant one can be, we can also not ignore, that by looks of it, it sure was stupid to stand upto a man who was pointing guns to you...well forgive me that was not stupidity...what was stupid was hitting head on the tree...like the Inspector of Pink Panther Series.
On serious note...again for TRP audience.
I don't question Madhu's gumption about saving a child. I question her gumption about trying to counter a man with gun who she thinks may be threat to the child. And yet because she kept on fight by CV's standards of gallant act, she could have ended up being shot in the forest. And just because she is not shot and is seen waking up from the bed...the TRP audience can very well say...Madhu, now you have lot of minutes to think now. THINK HARD ...why are on the bed ? Why not lying dead in the jungle or waking up from the faint in the jungle.

Thanks, Shri, Your post gives me some hope that the cvs haven't lost the plot. It certainly looked as though everyone was on Speed, including the director, editor and script writer.
I truly hope that there is some method in the madness they showed last night.

MADHU's CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Seeing the spate of events managed by Madhu, why don't we call her selfish. We call her only self-righteous.  And we call Trishna and Radha as selfish.

But honestly, when did ever Radha actioned something that not about thinking about her family and not herself. Let's forget her crazy son for once who crucified her for her action.

And if Trishna was selfish in her ambitions, Madhu is also selfish in going after her self-righteous whims. If Trishna did not think of her family much (though she used the money to help Shamsher), even Madhu did not think of her family when she went after RK and Mukund. And now wandering alone...what's with the woman ?! just the previous day, some creep chanced upon her being away from everyone and today she sauntered of again...Can she for once think...I am also a property of my family, if she cannot say I will be sorely missed by my family if I let something happen to me or if something happens to them, I won't be able to see myself in pain...

All of this God sent MUSEEBAT for MUSEEBATBALA and those stupid promos.
Just the other day, Ananya was saying FEAR is the first principle of self-preservation.
But in MBVerse FEAR = HAUSLON SE VEER HOON chant.
Jai ho Madhubala !!!!

So finally watched today's episode and DAMN !
Were the CVs hit by this sudden rush of adrenaline that it very well reflected in the episode ?

I mean throughout all I saw was some action, dishum-dishum, and absolute craziness!

Sultan just made a flying entrance from the water defying any form of gravity. By now I should be used to this in MB land, but no, the rational thinker is still there. So today onwards, I switch completely over to my insane side while watching this show !

Throughout the episode, only two things stood out to me as far as story progression is concerned:

1) Madhu is praying once again and you see Sultan emerging. That does not look good at all! It was rather just some more foreshadowing of the danger that awaits. It's going to take Madhu a lot more than chanting a few verses to be able to face this!

2) The whole thing with Madhu saving the boy, and then being chased by the goons just seems like a trap to me! It's as if though they were waiting for her to come save him.

Can I just say I'm completely awe-struck by Madhu? And no I'm not being sarcastic at all!

She's impulsive, she's insane, and she can completely drive you crazy by her actions. But end of the day, she has her heart in the right place, and I rather find her inspiring!

Yeah, I admit her actions can sometimes be questionable. But that doesn't make her a fool.
When she saw the boy looking helpless, she could've by all means just turned around and kept walking away. This would've been the easier option. But no, her gut instinct told her to go save the kid and I actually find that applaudable. Now whether this was all set up by Sultan is a different story. But taking everything at face value, I immensely appreciate Madhu's daredevil act. Because it takes a lot to do what she did! I mean, Sultan shows up, points a gun at her and tells her to let go of the kid. Instead of doing what he said, she refused and tried to resist.

Even in the most disjointed episode in the show the CVs still kept Madhu's character intact!

I know she lands herself into trouble. But these troubles also did find their way to Madhu as well.
Now a normal person would've walked away from it. But I think it's already been proven enough times that Madhu is anything but the simple girl she claims to be (and I wish she soon stops calling herself that! ) Even RK was quick to realize that craziness in her and that's what really attracted him to her.

During RK's fake love confession to Madhu, he told her that if he is crazy then she is a lot more crazier than him.  And what did we see post the revenge drama? We saw Madhu get back up on her feet and try to continue with her day-to-day activities. She was determined to bring back that lost happiness. She even took up the challenge with RK. From my POV, I can only garner more respect for her.
And today once again she proved that she isn't someone to be underestimated.

Seriously, if I had all this time been seeing a show about a simple, normal girl, then I would've been totally flagger-basted by Madhu's actions today.

But no, I'm watching MEIEJ, where both leads are completely badass, and define insanity in their own ways. And no, insanity does not equal stupiditiy. At least, not for me

Agree with all of it.  And everyone here almost sees the same thing.

@bold - I am going to post here what I responded to nlm4.
"On that note...yes saving a child is brave deed. Watching the drama I had these two feelings.

More on that...
Stupidity? Or was it a masked Strategy - EP 212
Why Madhu's character became repugnant to me, you will get the answer if you read that post (link given above) and especially if Madhu has a little thought added to her gallant mind.

That's why I quoted GB Shaw.

Cavalry marching with swords towards gun shots. Lampoon of world war 1.

All gallant acts are marked by stupidity, sense of idealism, and stroke of luck.
Divided between those who live to see victory and those who die on battlefield.

When in action, you can never back-out from what you started. So I forgave Madhu for her entire bravery feat in the jungle. If you read my page 1 take, I started questioning her acts once she wakes from the bed...as in now she is a captive.

From this point she is not gallant, she is just plain stupid. Any intelligent person cannot ignore that.

In Madhu's defence, I have upholded her bravery act until the point of her being in the jungle.

And as per Madhu's state of mind...its just too much to imagine that she replayed same dialogue of Dipali's comments of day time for infinity times in her mind (mind travels faster than light) until she hit the boulder to come out of her reveries in the night. How much clunk is that ? And why as a viewer cannot observe and hold on to it ?

Dipali had famously said...kuch to baat hai. Haan,  baat hai na.

Whenever madhu sees a good looking guy, there has to be a lost cause around the guy for her to take up. So what does she do? Instead of wasting time on phangurl moments, she sends them bangles, slaps them, sends them to jail, latest is ...bites them, attempts to shoot them. The poor guys get so confused they end up falling in love with her...or  fake love and then really fall in love...you know the rest. We don't know what madhu will do to this poor Sultan guy, as yet.

Today's whole episode was shoddy and poorly planned, seems to have been shot in a tearing hurry. To me, it ended up being comical. However, if all this is required for RK to hurry his love realisation, then maybe it's fine. Hope the CVs don't play around with this track though. I understand they need a back up for honeymoon plans & all...For me, as of now...that's about it with this track...a back up plan. Nothing less expected, definitely nothing more.

You voiced out all my problems with Madhu today.. I too had the same reaction. Couldn't understand her at all.. What was she thinking? I can understand that she was worried for the kid terrified because of all the gun fire and waking up in an unknown place but a normal person would be quiet and try to figure out what is happening without angering the person who has kidnapped you. She was just Dead

But now after reading all the reviews so far it seems all so hilarious.

Chalo, atleast with a bad episode,  I will be able to concentrate on the prod roll-outs today and turn out to be more efficient.

Soundarya, Adding to your list of Madhu's crazy acts. Wears sarees of her men's ex-gfs when she is supposed to stay away from them.  God !!! by far that has been the most unpleasant episode in my memory. That day the woman was not a woman from Planet Earth. She was an alien from some other Planet.

Madhu, you silly, stupid, stupid, brainless, foolish girl! Do you really go wandering off into the jungle in the darkness? Is the self-preservation gene absent in your DNA? And then you pick up a kid, tangle with gun-clad ruffians, fight with another goon, pick up a fight with goon again in HIS HOME, clutching an unwilling kid...the list goes on and on...did I say you were stupid?

RK, you're getting as brainless as your ex-biwi... you run off into the jungle screaming her name and spout one of your dialogues when your sidekick suggests the police? What's so wrong about informing the cops anyways? Anyways, missed you today RK...it's just not the same without you in every other frame..

Padmini, your overwrought shrieking tired me. Enough said.
Radhaji, your stammering bromides are getting old.
Trishna, can you possibly open your eyes any wider??! What do you think happened - that RK assaulted and killed Glycerine and dumped her body in the jungle??!
And Snakeaali, you're probably wondering how Dukhbala engineered this fiasco as well...!

New guy, you have a good bod, and are good looking. I'm reserving judgement on anything else. Don't touch and lift Madhu Bhabhiji like that again ok? OK! She's ocassionally incredibly stupid, but she's our RK Bhai's stupid ex-biwi. Bas haq hai RK ka. And so far, you don't hold a candle to RK Bhai in hotness.

Not an epi I'll revisit.

I was so irritated with the drama that I can't really comment on Sultan's screen presence as of today... Hope it gets better tomorrow...

It was not a Bemisal Budhwar but more like Bakwas Boring Brainless Budhwar. What an absolutely braindead of an episode. Waste of everyone's time and talent in today's episode.

Has Madhu transformed into an energizer bunny that she just keeps going and going without pausing to think? And what nonsense, is that child so traumatized that he cannot say dad when the gangsta dude is pointing gun at them in the jungle?

Shouldn't the gangsta shirtless guy ask Madhu ki "Mere bacche ko kahan le ja rahi ho, use chhod do"? The problem would have been solved  in the jungle itself. Were they all brain dead zombies today?

I was thinking if that poor Sultan knew what kind of hazard Madhu can be to his life, he would personally hand over a gun to her, tell her to drop off the child at the police station and get the hell away from his life never to be seen again.

I would take RK's atrocious behavior to Madhu any given day than to spend my time watching this. CVs, Please wrap up this nonsense tomorrow.
