Episode 158  Discussion: 1st Jan 2013

Action and Drama building up around all the current tracks...Trishna movie launch, Padmini-Shamsher marriage, Balraj Rentry

Episode Review
Wow!!! What a gripping episode. Will give an A+ rating for the episode.

The episode highlights being
  • Trishna seeing her producer is none other than her father Balraj and deciding to turn down the movie offer.
  • Trishna chooses not to tell Padmini that Balraj is back in town.
  • Bittuji-RK upset that Trishna fainted in front of Balraj and RK asking to fix it up again between.
  • RK calls up Shamsher and together him and Madhu ask Shamsher to get married to Padmini
  • And an undercurrent of plethora of emotions dominating each scene.

Trishna -Balraj scene - Emotional state of panic and fear.
Trishna wants to thank her producer and is agahst to find out that he is none other than her father Balraj. All flashback scenes. She tries to escape the place before Balraj can see her. But fear and panic gets the better of her and she faints. This is almost the same when as the child Trishna was in. We can see that Trishna has never been able to come out of the traumatic shocks that she felt with her biological father.
On the other hand Balraj...I was confused...why was he calling her Trishna, Trishna as if he recognized and then shooes everything away and calls her "my heroine has fainted". He goes to get support and meanwhile Trishna recovering, bolts from there.

Bittuji-RK Scene in Vanity - Managing business with its ups and down like every other day.
It was an interestingly shot scene. I was reminded of the recurring theme of Bittuji's ever present tension-handling for tensions through his chief's career and business ventures and consequences of it. First he used to be worried about RK's prod schedules, then we were shown of Bittuji's concern about how to get his Chief away from Mukund Dikshit accident case, then Bittuji was worried with extortion calls, and now we have Bittuji starting to get bogged down in worry with Balraj -the producer.
RK the boss was as usually comprehending his secretary/manager's tension and suggesting what he has to do...as usual. And RK is called  to do his shots...his bread and butter earning work.
Wow!! for the first time I got to hear a director saying aloud to RK, that his shot was perfect.

Trishna - Padmini scene - What binds them together? A relationship born of sharing pain together and learning to love each other.
Living trauma together, coming out of it together and the love for each other...Today, there was not a moment when there could have been anyone between the two. When Trishna comes running in panic to Padmini, she almost wants to tell her mother that Balraj is back. But something makes her to decide against it. May be she didn't want Padmini to feel the pain. May be she will tell her mother when she calms down.
And the dialogues beautifully built up the drama. When  Padmini says that Madhu was here...suddenly Trishna realizes that ..oh! yes Madhu is also there...but we do not see the typical jealousy of hers...but someone that is also there between her and her mom and who also needs to be protected, no matter what.

RK-Madhu and Shamsher scene.
I am so moved by their scenes in duo or tri fashion with each other, starting from the phone call placing by RK to Shamsher, Madhu coming to meet up RK at the studio with all disappointment and RK sensing it, Madhu and Shamsher meeting Madhu first and telling her how Rishabh has called him.
Wow!!! Did you hear that ? Shamsher called RK as "Rishabh". That's really something. Really something.
And then the entire trio conversation was so beautifully done. And the marked contrast comes out today that how RK is much better in presenting his case. He makes people think ...Shamsher and RK conversation went to such a high mental plane of understanding, anger and disappointment and yet a driving down understanding of trust between the two. It was just beautiful to watch. I am sure if RK had gone with Madhu to talk to Padmini, he would not have had a high pitched reaction from Padmini, but far more heart-wrenching pain at RK for even thinking about it. Regardless RK would have broken the barriers towards realization far more effectively.Alas! he should not be doing everything by himself. Protocol forbids him that.

Anyways, without any ado, I would bring forth the conversation that I had with Zorica yesterday regarding the essence of Shamsher and Padmini's relationship. I might as well quote it again here.

Zorica asked
What is the name of this relationship.

Me to Zorica
Padmini answered it as "the relationship of trust, respect and purity."

However, in the mangalsutra scene, Shamsher was so lovingly looking at Padmini when she fumbles a bit to tie it around her neck. A man who loves her daughters as his own, why wouldn't he love her when she takes care of him so much. But just that he is her knight in shining armour and his milady happens to be a married woman. All that is left for him to do it just lay his life down for her and in return never ask anything. That's his gentleman's promise to his milady, one who is not a lady in distress, but a strong lady who chose to save her kids from her evil husband without anyone's help and expecting no help.

Zorica to me
At the very beginning it was clear that this would be a good show. Here we are able to meet first with the image of Balraj, but also to understand how strong bonds connect Padmini and the children. Traumatic experience for her and Trishna, but she was lucky to meet Malik even while Madhu is born. RK had the opportunity to see what the viewers saw at the very beginning in terms of their relationship, and that is a great understanding, respect and mutual concern. Malik has always acted with Padmini as she is of special value, like it was made of glass or porcelain, realizing that Padmini is essentially gentle woman (but fight like a lioness for her children). He acted shy, but always protective.

My small contribution. It was made in a hurry. But, I'll do one that will show their relationship over time.
I think to make one that would be called: All Dipali's faces. But I myself do not like to watch her, and I suspect neither do you. Ouch

Zorica,
I liked the pic very much.

To answer your question there, Padmini answered it as "the relationship of trust, respect and purity."

Wishing everyone a Happy and a Prosperous New Year!
It was a well-executed episode, kudos to the writers.
Trishna was a surprise when she decided to hide Ballu's return from her mother. Given how she reacted to the situation the only reason shed wil do the movie is if Ballu forces her to do the movie. It wont take much time for him to figure out that RK wants his identity as the producer to be hidden. So there is no effective way of RK-Trishna talking to eachother… Ballu may use that to his advantage. Trishna might do the film to shield her family (Yes, I am being generous and giving her a benefit of doubt!)
Malik-RK-Madhu scene was very well done. It was heartwarming to hear Malik refer to RK as Rishabh. RK was amazingly mature in the way he spoke to Malik. Yes, RK has an advantage of being the son-in-law because of which the reaction of Malik was toned down. I loved the way RK started off with '...ek duje ke prati parva, chinta aur izzat bahut hai… manna nahi par pyar bhi hai!' he paused at that for Malik's reaction and all he got was Malik's silence which said it all. As RK pointed out it was so obvious Malik was worried about Padmini's reaction and what she would think of him. It is in a way wonderful and in many way too sad that Malik loves Padmini with so much of devotion and yet chose not to tell her anything. They needed to get together a lot earlier… they didn't deserve such incomplete lives being together. There was a stark contrast in the way RK spoke and the way Madhu spoke… cant really fault Madhu because she was too emotional about the entire issue. RK kept the entire conversation as them being two individuals who respect eachother immensely and may even be in love which is why their relationship ought to be given a name. On the other hand  Madhu bluntly said 'aap pati patni se kum tho nahi ho na' She deserved Malik's wrath for that simply because it didn't sound good. What I really liked was the fact that Malik didn't for a moment deny through words or reactions that he loved Padmini nor was he ashamed of it… he was man enough to accept it when it is no longer his secret.
RK is back to RKism... he is using his way to get around to Padmini-Malik about their love for eachother. Did I read Padmini slaps him? He sure deserves it… faking an accident is so not done. But I am sure RK wont mind a bit… he will stand around with an amused smile teasing away Padmini and Malik. Malik will be fine with the marriage thing aslong as Padmini is fine… so can have RK handling Padmini instead of Madhu and Trishna, please?
Bhupinder who plays Malik, isn't an extra ordinary actor but is decent enough an actor… but there are times he reminds me of Dharmendra's 'Tumhara khoon pi jaunga' expression…which is so not cool.

Wishing everyone here a very Happy New Year!!!! May this year bring joy and happiness into yours and your loved one's lives..

Hope some of you had a rocking start and some have a rocking start to the year!!!

Coming to the episode, it was a very eventful and quite a gripping one with all the scenes directed towards the coming toofan in their lives.

Trishna displayed morbid fear on seeing Balraj to such an extent that she faints on the spot. She then comes running to hug her mom, the only person who can truly comprehend her fear and calm her as it is only they both who have been oppressed and traumatised firsthand by the ruthless tyrant. She stops short from revealing about Balraj prolly coz she already looked a lil worried and had blurted by asking if Madhu told her sth. On hearing Madhu's name, I am assuming Trish realized that it is not just her mom and she but even Madhu needs to be kept away/saved from Balraj's wrath.

Another episode stealer scene apart from the above was the RK-Malik-Madhu scene. It was handled very neatly with no emotions running out of place. I truly loved the scene coz both RK and Malik were using their head to comprehend what was being put-forth by other and answering back in a similar fashion.
Malik clearly understands where RK(and Madhu) are coming from. But he tries to appease the situation by keeping Padmini in mind.  His anger was for the fact that broaching this subject would have caused anguish to Padmini. He tells that his r'ship with Pads is one that he has nurtured with respect and trust and RK points out that  love, care , concern for each other is what has made it a beautiful one. Malik knows Pads might be a strong but still is very deeply-rooted in customs and traditions. He is happy the way things are doesn't want to take a single chance and taint their pure r'ship.  Such a selfless soul. Beti ke liye jaan ki parwah nahi ki and us beti ki maa ke liye zindagi ki parwah nahi ki.

RK understands the unspoken and the spoken emotions of Malik and hence gears upto the next part of his plan i.e, Mission sasuma ko patao.

I truly liked that RK-Bittuji scene too. Lot of things were running in RK's head but the moment he finds Bittuji worried/tensed, he tells him to aaram se displace the tension on Balraj's(root cause of Bittuji's tension) head.

Interesting times ahead as to what Ballu will do to woo his heroine back to the film offer. Will he stalk/trsck her down to the chawl thus coming face-to-face with his past? What will be his plan of action thereafter? What would RK do if Trish refuses to take up Ballu's film offer?

Beautiful episode, with everyone playing their part brilliantly.

After many many days I liked Trishna today. I liked the fact that she chose to hide her encounter with ballu from her mother and keep it to herself, although it might not be an intelligent move. I also liked the fact that she showed recognition that Madhu too falls in the line of danger(probably more than them) along with herself and her mother now that ballu is back in town. But ballu will not keep quiet. Remember what tamasha he created to get into this movie with RK. Aur ab to heroine mana kar rahi hai. He will surely track her down and that is when he might come face to face with padmini and madhu.

Madhu-RK-Malik scene was brilliant. One of the best in recent episodes. Everyone has already written beautifully about it. I agree with all of you, so won't write too much and make things repetitive. But, I will not refrain myself from praising RK and Malik. Padmini and Madhu are truly lucky to have these two men in their lives, who will always put these two ladies ahead of themselves.

RK once again proves what a skilled man he is when it comes to reading people and putting his point across to them. Loved how he understood the unspoken emotions of Malik for Padmini and made Madhu understand it once Malik left.

To ab RK sasuma ko manane ke liye thappad bhi khane ko tayar hai. Wah! Daamad ho to aisa!

Great reviews guys, though I had to skim through them (so tired from yesterday and today...)
Watched the episode and I must say it was a very good one. CV's seem to finding the balance between telling Rishbala's story and telling the story of everyone around them- while Rishbala are the focus they are not dominating the narrative, which I like. I think, especially given the six day thing going on now, taking some of the heat of the leads is definately a good thing, as it'll give them some time off, so to speak. Everyone can share the painLOL if they keep going the way they are.
I loved the way they handled Trishna- I said it before and I'll say it again, no way in heck she would act with Ballu, not the way she feels about him. Her scenes with Padmini were also very good...a daughter who knows there is calamnity coming, but wants to protect her mother above everything else. In no way shape or form was Trishna in her "stepmother/stepdaughter" mode today, and it was heartwarming to see.
Liked the scene between Malik/RK/Madhu. The two men really are alike in the way they view Madhu and their loved ones. Malik endured 20 years of taunts for his respect and love for Padmini, and RK's obsession with Madhu will lead him heaven knows where. I don't think RK could ever be as selfless as Malik has been though. Madhu is his and he'll burn the world to keep her.
What I am excited about is the upcoming confrontration with Ballu. It'll be nice if it's a family effort, not just a Rishbala thing.
Also, is anyone noticing that RK is genuinely coming close to Madhu's family, but still keeping a distance from his mother? I mean in the sense that he does trust Malik and Padmini...but he'll never trust his mother again.
Who gets the title Radunce again- woman, for the love of Pete, stop listining to your elder DIL- grow a brain!
