Episode 126 Discussion: 16th Nov 2012

FEAR & ALIENATION versus LOVE & CARING

Episode 126  Discussion: 16th Nov 2012

Events of the episode

 1. Padmini calls up Madhu to find if everything is fine. Madhu assures her that RK trusts her and when Padmini asks about Radhaji, Madhu at the pretext of some work, disconnects the call.
 2. Padmini leaves Malik's house as she feels she cannot stay in Malik's house after what he did (attempt to kill RK).
 3. Madhu gives RK his medicines while he is reading scripts. Madhu lingers and asks him, why he did not let Shamsher get punished. RK avoids giving answer and instead sends her off to cook.
 4. Bittuji asks RK, why he is not wary of Madhu. RK explains his trust on MAdhu as to how Madhu can never go around beating the bush if she had wanted to kill him. RK also warns Bittuji never to mistrust Madhu again.
 5. Madhu is cooking Daal for RK. Enter Dips and Radhaj into the kitchen. Situation is hostile. Dips suggests to Radha that the daal Madhu is cooking might have been mixed up with poison.
 6. RK, Bittuji and Bhatiya family have settled to eat at the table. Madhu is not seen anywhere. Radha asks Dips to serve food for RK.
 7. Dips serves food within RK's plate in quite slutty manner, which strangely goes unnoticed by the rest of the family.
 8. RK calls for Madhu and asks her to serve him with food cooked by her. When Radha stops him, RK asks Madhu to feed him so that he can put up the act of him feeling as if he is having food as fed by his mother. A cutting scene at that with his mother sitting there and he imagining his mother as if she was some beautiful memory of the past...and him talking to his wife in sweet remembrance.

My review of the episode

Today entertainment and screenplay wise, I rate the episode with an A.
For the first time, they made a progressive episode on a Friday rather than a filler episode.

Emotional content of the episode was focussed on understanding the ramifications of an event that had changed personal equations forever. People are broken, confused and rattled, ready to become the viper snakes which can bite you to death out of its own fear. Fear looms large...fear of every sort ,,,only making it more and more vicious...ready to lash out venom. Only few people remained to stay calm absorbing the fear and guilt and confusion.

Padmini - Malik - trust - broken
Confusion against Madhu - by Bittuji
Fear against Madhu - Radhaji (RADUNCE - The leaky tap) and Dips Bhatia

Spitting Venom
 • Padmini against Shamsher
 • Radhaji against Madhu (Alienation)
 • Dips against Madhu and RK (Zeher ka Tadka)

Clearly Padmini has forgotten what Shamsher did for Padmini and her family in all that altruistic manner. She is leaving him, isolating him in his guilt when he needs family support. She is leaving him ...She couldn't live with his erratic judgment and actions.
Question to Padmini - Had you been married to Shamsher, would you have left your husband in that manner ? I doubt it Padmini ! I doubt it !
So selfish of you Padmini ...so damn selfish of you.

Radhaji has forgotten that she once trusted her son's life in Madhu's hands and Madhu did keep all her promises to her. And yet Radhaji has no gratitude now.

Dips Bhatia is so threatened for her life that she has become the rattled snake. She can just bite..A snake has never been attributed with any intelligence. It can gobble up its own eggs if hungry. Nature made it bad that way. I don't know why. May be for all others to see it an epitome of fear, confusion. A coiled snake capable of putting its tail in its mouth...

Good scenes
Padmini comprehending what Madhu must be facing in her Sasuraal. Her allusion to Durga Pooja ...nicely done. Ignominy of the Madhu the Wife nicely represented through this story.

RK explaining what Madhu is and also warning on what is permitted by him to think about his wife. Did Bittuji need that explanation ? No. But the scene was needed for the "khulasa" to viewers on what we must think of Madhu as she had been reticent and been indulging in all kind of dubious actions...the reason me was so upset and commented on her actions like that. So RK was basically pacifying viewers about Madhu's actions.

Best scene of the Day
 • RK showing Radhaji her place...that she is long dead for him.
 • RK showing everyone that Madhu is now not only his wife, she is his nuturer as well, when he compared her to his loving mother of the past, that are now just his memories. He may have started all of it as an act...but somewhere down he too gets emotional about it ...soon to shoo it away by asking his wife to feed him.
Best visual treat of the day
RK lounging himself on the couch with all that paper around him. Liked him reading the script and wanting his secretary to be around. He is sure a chatterbox. Can't stop talking. Remember the 1st Vanity Van scene of RK, how he keeps talking to his spot. He can never shut his mouth. needs to talk, needs someone to listen to him without any question. Well...every boss has his whims. Like myself...can't stop talking to my sub-ordinates to share the commentary on work output! LOL

Fun dialogue of the day:
When Kuku asks Sikky to eat as he is not going to feed him like Madhu was feeding her hubby. RFOL!! This man in own weird manner takes care of his son at all times. I wonder, why Kukku is not seeing Dips was flirting with RK in her leeched manner, right in front of everyone.

Trishna - We may not like her...looking at her restropect actions and her insecurities with Madhu, but the girl has never faltered on her being the daughter to Padmini and Shamsher. Children can be selfish, foolish, but children should be children to parents. Trishna has not breached that yet.

The Hindu way of life ...the four ashrams.
While in Brahmacharya phase (1 -25 yrs technically and unmarried/learning state), one is nurtured by parents, teachers and mentors. Attaining knowledge to go through life is our dharma and working hard for that knowledge is our karma.

While in Grihasta phase (25 -50 yrs, married/householder/nurturer state), one become a nurturer, provider, administrator, manager for dependents on him and his household and occupation. Providing for others, nurturing others, slogging for others is his dharma and defly managing it all with all customary practices and maintaining traditions is his Karma.

RK and Madhu are in Grihasta phase. And yesterday RK became the nurturer to Madhu, today he made Madhu assert herself that she is his nurturer now...though in the sanctum of their room, she did not forget to get him his medicines.

The Fear Complex
Liked how RK was playing with everyone's fear. He coughs. Biwi is afraid of his life...wants Bittuji to call for a doctor. His "dead" Ma must be shedding buckets of tears for him. His stalker Dips Bhatia wants to use the opportunity of his endangered life to handover his wife to authorities for attempting to take his life. And probably the father-son duo may just be worried ...but not doing anything.
What a farce !

RANGMUNCH REVIEW

Sum-up from Rangmunch...very much echoing what we have all felt

BEST SCENE OF THE DAY - MADHUBALA FEEDING RK

Can anyone explain me the significance of the last scene as to why RK opened up about his mother in front of the whole family? I didn't really get his intention behind doing so..
Zoya,

Very easy. its ALIENATION given back in FULL and FINAL style.
 1. He told his mother to live with his decision of being married to Madhu even if it is highly unacceptable to her.
 2. Mother & Co. doesn't stop there. He could see at the table, how they all alienated Madhu. He corrected Dips serving by calling Madhu. He asked if she didn't cook.
 3. Radha opens her pestering mouth and says his choice food is cooked and so he can have it. This irates him, but keeps cool and mentally decides he needs to do something to stop that sqweaking mouth who has become the spokeswoman for the Bhatias.
 4. He gives his plate back to her...basically returning her food.
 5. When Madhu serves food and he is ready to eat it, the sqweaky mouth, still can't stop herself. She has to make him angry again by asking not to eat what Madhu has served him It was insulting to him as she grossly insulted his wife.
 6. So he takes his alienation of her to the next level at the table, The next level is to make Madhu feed him so that he put up the act of him feeling as if he is having food as fed by his mother. How cutting is that ...his mother sitting there and he imagining his mother as if she was some beautiful memory of the past...and him talking to his wife in sweet remembrance.
 7. Basically it was a drama to cut down RADUNCE with Madhu as his only AUDIENCE and VIEWER. A Mental game which the mother understood...

However...somewhere in his acting, that actually became REAL. That was the poignance of the scene.

This is what I said earlier about the scene.
 Best scene of the Day
 • RK showing Radhaji her place...that she is long dead for him.
 • RK showing everyone that Madhu is now not only his wife, she is his nuturer as well, when he compared her to his loving mother of the past, that are now just his memories.
And then he looks into her eyes... And hers were already trained on his...And ishq-junoon song played!!! Wow the scene was fabulous now that I understand it better:)

Awesome analysis and insights everyone...I yet have to catch up with all the posts in this thread...There isn't anything much for me to add but, just couldn't stop myself from writing...I blame this addiction on the intriguing character of RK and equally insightful thread as this...

The dining scene was so poignant but,the effect was a little diluted for me because of the angles of shots taken... I thought VD and DD might have shot their scenes separately at least for part of the sequence..it was clear during Madhu's reaction scene to RK's words and also I suspect they used body double in the long shots...could be due to DD's ill health as was reported so,if the director in case, was sulking thinking that the sequence didn't turn out to his hearts content LOL,I would like to assure him that we,the loyal fans have got the essence of the scene nevertheless and what a beautiful and poignant scene it was...In writing down my thoughts here, I am repeating and borrowing stuff from SD,Zoya,DV and everyone as all of you were so very apt in describing the scene and I couldn't agree more...

RK initially did put up the scene intentionally to assert his view and Madhu's position in his
life...but,when he talks of his old memories it was all unintentional,involuntary...He was vulnerable and let the mask slip revealing a bit of his heart in front of everyone...He was shaken up by how things turned out ...he doesn't care for what Bhatia and co thinks as he knows they are capable of just that...but,when Bittuji raised doubts there was that controlled emotion of possessed anger as DV so rightly pointed out...He could see how now everyone, even reasonable and balanced people could think ill of his wife ..Once Mallik said 'meri choti si bachi, uski sone ka dil' but,now she is RK's... 'his delicate wife and her tender heart'...he took over that right of protecting Madhu from Mallik that day... her defame and dishonor is affecting him badly...with this vulnerable mind he comes down and when he eats from her hand,he lets out the gush of old memories that resurfaced by her touch and warmth...Eating dal and rice with ghee fed by a mother by her own hands is a sweet memory for any kid...he found the same love and care from Madu's hands filling that void...he gets emotional there and slips his feelings out...realizes and tries to cover up his pain...but,couldn't fight his need for that love and couldn't get enough of it so,forces his biwi to feed him fast desperately trying to quench his thirst for that undiluted Love through Madhu's hands... she alone possesses that love which could quench his thirst and give him peace
Tere ishq hi mera Junoon hain...

and the eye lock there after was beautiful...Madhu affected by his words,at his pain and his passion in seeking love ...RKmesmerizedby that love, care of hers for him which is so magnificently captivating...

THE FEAR COMPLEX - elaborated and as seen from precap review
@ALL - I just read the Telly Tadka article (http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=3296545) that was posted by Tanu in the main forum and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the article writer had the exact same thoughts about the precap just as I did in my post on pg 5. There is a 50-50 chance that he is faking it or the food is actually poisoned by Dipali. But just like @Shri I have decided to lean on the idea that RK is just testing everyone's reaction and nothing is wrong with him or the food because the news segments did show RK/Madhu celebrating KC and Diwali.
Also, what's with Dips observing the fast on KC for RK? She is married to Sikky and would n't Sikki want to be the one breaking her fast. Just her name riles RK up and what makes her think that he is even going to be in the same place as hers to break her fast. Unless, she fakes fainting and RK gives her water out of humanity which I don't want him to. Hopefully, Madhu picks up on her evil tactics and does not let her succeed. It is disgusting to see her rubbing her arm on RK's shoulders in front of her husband and the entire family. Like @Zoe said RADUNCE has lost it and is trying to act as a PIMP to Dips. Why on earth she is asking Dips to serve RK and not ask her to serve HER husband Sikki. Really this woman has lost her marbles and would not surprise me if she asks RK to break Dips's fast.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENTS & ANALYSIS as derived from the scenes today

Thanks to the writers for handling the subject in mature manner. Human beings can err, They are slaves to their own emotions. Maaya jaal of the world.

Today Madhubala and Padmini officially joined the grey category.
 • She accepted yesterday that she was trying to protect her father..(unlike fans of Madhu wanted her to remain white and handover her father to authorities).
 • RK understands that she naturally will want to save her father.  So so true to real life.
So far.....
 • RK accepted he ran over Mukund and Bittuji tried to save him in RK expressed command ofcourse. Rich man knowing that he can get away with the crime.
 • Bittuji accepted he beat Shamsher and RK saved him by assuming responsibility ..again ofcourse...
 • Shamsher was ready to kill RK ...man to man game. Both RK and Bittuji understand his anger, but both are surprised at his lack of understanding on the ramifications considering the societal status he has or predicament that he is in...A class difference I felt quite a long time before ...baser instincts rule his mind. Think of him as a villager, a jaat...those people do not have second thoughts of killing men with a sickle, axe, or sword when wronged...
 • Slowly no one is under Doodh ka dhula category...even Padmini who forgot gratitude. She stepped into murky area of definitions ...what is self respect/respect/trust/mistrust/misdeeds/good deeds and what not...

]Overall a very beautiful episode today. It was good to see RK in his laid-back attitude. He looked so much at peace, at home, at work, while he was gazing through his work papers.

This man's intelligence and wit is so compelling that it makes one forget that he once erred criminally and inhumanly.

RK, as a super star, is an open book to the world but has he let anyone read the pages within in its essence? He exterior is so tough that no one does dare go near him lest try to know him, but then when someone reaches him deep within, one will realize how gullible, childlike, longing for care and comfort, and lovable he is. It is Madhu who somehow managed to penetrate into that special space of his. Both RK and Madhu are unaware of how much RK has exposed himself to self and Madhu.

A few words of caution to Bittuji today showed the controlled emotion that looked like it would give way to the possessed anger. How protective is he of his wife? Awww, how beautifully has VD played that. I love this man (RK) so much. Can't get enough of him. He will never let anyone feel bored of him and will never get bored of himself either. He reveals one layer after the other and suprises himself and others all the time. He is now getting completely possessed and obsessed with Madhubala and her presence in his life. I am actually scared of the intensity that is getting built in slowly but strongly. Will he regret what he is getting himself into later? What is the plan of the CVs? I am now totally hooked to this show. I just hope the CVs take the play with the same intensity and at the sametime naturalistically.

Today RK was at his best when

 • he tried to avoid answering Madhu's prodding query about why he let off Malik
 • he expressed his displeasure against Bittuji and his controlled warning if the latter dared to make the mistake again
 • his snub at Dips by shoving her hand off his body and expressing his detest at her overtures in front of others (she is completely sexually obsessed with RK... how desperate is she that too in front of her husband... Sikky and his sick wife.. what a combination?)
 • his nonchalant order to his Biwi to feed him defying his mother's plea royally
 • he really felt and missed his mother who he seemed to have loved immensely
 • he grabbed Madhu's hand and fed himself impulsively, trying to bury the pangs he felt
Reiteration as to why he is putting up with this whole bunch of cartoon characters in his household was subtly but beautifully done today. It is just for that one woman whom he loved and respected so much once. Now the love and respect is lost but then he is unable to nip the cord completely for obvious reasons. VD was fabulous here again. There was this hurt, pain, and loss and at the sametime enough strength to not let himself break. He showed his weakness and loss but well within his character. VD, AWESOME!

Doves,
Loved that write-up. I read few times and I am just enjoying it.

And at bold1...childlike longing for care...OMG..those words kill me. Since wednesday, when he took care of matters in the Police station, I am like dying to see someone say few kind words to him. That's where all my maternal instincts are flaring up. You know what, in the whole of this drama, everyone is shocked...everyone is being supported by others in one or the other way. Entire Bhatias together. Madhu and Padmini together. Trishna part supported by Padmini. Madhu supported by RK too. Three men are shocked. Bittuji, Shamsher and RK. Bittuji is in action...Shamsher already arrested and being ill-treated for his misdeeds.

But the key question...the man who was attacked by his FIL ...why no one asked him even once...RK,"Are you okay ? Its shocking to know that your FIL laid hands on you?" Did you have any inkling about it ?" Everyone is busy deciding for him and getting Shamsher arrested and Madhu thrown out...but no one bothered to ask the man what he feels about the whole news. Everyone is surprised that he withdrew the charges/closed the investigation. Everyone is curious to know why he did that and he is either a ajeeb insaan (like the police constables felt) or a paagal (like the Bhatias felt)...but no one bothered to ask a decent question..."RK, aap kaise feel kar rahe hain?"

Is that much humanity dead these days ? If one shows himself as strong, does that strip the society of its human sentiments ? Well India is a country of callous society. Here showing human feelings is like turning into weak. I disagree though.

At bold 2, I did not like when RK did not answer Madhu's query on why he dropped the charges. His ego or vulnerabilty, both do not count anything to me today on that matter. When Madhu asked that question, as a wife she had every right to know why he dropped the charges. Already the girl is living in ignominy given to her by her father, she feels guilty at protecting her father even if that is a natural thing to do, she is being thrown out by her husband's family and her husband is protective of her. Can she just not be weighed by his large heartedness and just make her stand on equal footing by telling why he let her Dad go.
Its an insult to her convictions the way he is not answering her. If she did the same with him, he would have raised hue and cry, screaming at the top of his lungs that I don't want your ahsaan, you don't have to pity me. Here the girl, asked if he trusted her. He said yes. If you trusted her, then on trust basis, tell her why you let go her father. This is the same woman who got you arrested..so she knows what it means to let it go. She did not let it go with you when whole world advised her to drop the case. May be now as she got swamped in the mire of unthinkable events, she deserves that much decent answer to understand how this man can forgive when she could not. Again a human level of knowledge sharing.

OMG!!! People and their egos and their petty concerns. All you need to do is just take away the emotion and do the right thing...

Leela, Nids,

Not sure if you are still up or not...Last night I dozed off while doing the EOD summary. I was seeing that you were discussing about it...So I am here this morning to clear what my sleeping mind was wanting to clarify to you both.

RK by keeping quiet like this is being true to his character.

1) RK would not want himself or Shamsher to ever let anyone and last of all Madhu that there was a 3rd attack also. Period.

My comment: I agree with him as an independent observer. In law and justice eyes, I think, the punishment is the same for any number of attempts of the same crime. I am not sure how that kind of justice works. As seen from my perspective, where at this time blooming love between RK and Madhu is of least important to me, where I am only concerned about character erosion...the psychological shift that will occur to Madhu, is all what I am worried about. If the self is stripped off all honors that it used to be decorated with, then living in bare essentials takes lot of courage and survival strength to live on. And my only wish is let Madhu be spared of the 3rd attack repercussion. In this case I am with RK...won't you spare that if you had the chance to shove it some hiding.

Madhu is still growing...I am all concerned for her because I don't know if she will be able to live through this. Not just this fictional character...at real, in our real lives, can we be sure how psychological scars affect our own family members ? No. We cannot be. Everytime, something has happened in my family, I am always trying to talk, making them talk...so that I know they are not stuck in some mental hole, fixated with one kind of thought, And because we do not know how abrasive they may become due to the scarring, its natural we think that let exposure to pain be limited.

2) RK not answering Madhu's straight question...why he has let her father go unpunished.
RK is being RK by not telling Madhu. May be he thinks Madhu will not understand why he did it, may be he thinks she will understand it...but either ways, he is not ready to face her response to his action, even though she wants to know.
The day RK will see Madhu, respecting his decision, inspite of her not knowing why he withdrew the case, he may loosen up to tell her why he did it so that he can study her reaction. If you all see it, RK has been sharing himself with Madhu wherever he sees her respecting his decision regardless of her knowing the reason or not. That elemental bond of respecting his decision is deemed as "stand by me" kind of trust for him.

Again I am not seeing this interaction between them as love bonding...I am seeing this as bonding between twosome...partners. Trust is what matters.

And this is where I am not with RK in his hesitation. He might want to wait for her to accept, heal herself before he will ever have the opportunity to tell her why he let Shamsher go ...but I am again all concerned for Madhu. The girl is broken, living in hostility from his family...and her only support system being HIM. Then isn't it natural, she would like to "prattle" with him with all her worries, questions, confusion ?
I am not saying that RK is not helping her out. He is taking care of her as her only support system, being soft and tough...just like a parent making her do all things (in husband's garb though Wink)
But point is ...Madhu in all the hostility from his family, seems to have come to a decision that, 1) Good RK trusts me because I did not do anything. 2) But can I know why he let my father go ?
For her, its like...give me this answer and I will then deal with Dipalis of the world and deal with all this hostility.

That's the reason why I am not liking RK here. He is too much of a PROTECTIVE Father to Madhu at this moment...hiding things from her like she is a baby, showing everyone how she has his support etc etc...but my dear RK...what about your baby ...once you leave her at the school and she enters her classroom, will be able to manage the ragging all by herself ?

This is where I was wanting RK to understand that Madhu needs a lit bit of HIS MIND and NOT HIS CARE to deal with her present situation. MAdhu needs the skills to survive, may be she has them...please just tell her how to employ those skills.

Again RK might say ...itne rahem dil to hum kabhi na the...so all yours Madhu...do what you have to. LOL

And Leela ...this piece was BRILLIANT !!! Clap
I am not absorbing the rest of your write-up ...as for now...this pasted portion here is what I see in him. Future I can't say..

He thinks explaining himself if he stands to gain by it is like begging the other person to think well of him. That's the sort of self-defensive notion that would take a lot of hurts to create.Ouch
In the matter of the photographs or even in the matter of Dipali's sari, he could have had Madhu guilty, apologetic, placating and malleable simply by giving explanation. But he couldn't bear to do it, even if he had to debase his pride instead and apologize repeatedly to Padmini.
Logically, he should have been sure beyond 100% that Madhu would react in his favour if he explained even bruquely, but he couldn't bear to make himself even a chance of vulnerable in either situation.
For RK, changing himself is not like slouging off an outer layer. Rather, it's like learning to walk after being in a wheelchair for over 10 years.
He will never be fully the emotionally open person he used to be. But Madhu is likely to help him get far more to that wholesome point than would otherwise have been even remotely possible.Embarrassed

@bold ...that's the reason, he needs Madhu in his life... She has shown him the hope that he can walk... and he is willing to wait for her to lead him...Very unobtrusive kind it...that's why he has that smile when he wakes up in the morning these days...

@bold: Am assuming that him sharing a lil more about his past on why he is the man he is today(as per the latest article)is going to help her in dealing with the situation or rather say move ahead in life with the first bitter experience she has had to endure...

As of now, her wounds are still raw and she has not  come out of the shock yet and her mind is kinda numb...Not even one full day has passed since she has discovered the truth which has shattered her very foundation... So RK might actually be waiting for the right time to teach her how to tackle the situation when she is a little more sorted out and her brain will want to respond more practically... At present i feel that she needs to be cared and her confidence needs to be boosted which is what he is doing...

@Shri - In your above post, you had questioned as to why kept ignoring or brushing off her question about why he let her father go unpunished knowing that he is the one behind every single one of his attacks. I think the recent article that talks about RK sharing his childhood/struggles of his past to become who he is right now is probably his way of telling her that he holds her and their relationship close to his heart and hence what he did for Malik is because of him not wanting to see her in pain. He is a very private person and tends to keep himself as a mystery to everyone around him but for him to open up to her should clearly give her a response to her burning question of why he let go off Malik. He did it all for her because she means something to him and he does not want to see her suffer because of her father whom she had adored, admired, loved and respected. Once she realizes that RK has accepted her as his wife in true sense she will be able to put everyone including Dipali in their respective places in her own nonchalant Madhu style. We have seen Madhu put Dipali in place before when she stopped her from serving food to RK. BTW, I remembered how Madhu told Dipali that she was taught to respect food and never waste it and RK was also voicing the same at the dinner table during this Friday's episode. Hmmm, they are indeed meant to be together as they already have the same ideals to the most part. As days go by, I am thinking that we might get to see more common traits between the two.
Yes Priya, Zoya,

Re...the protective RK and how he needs to show mind/skill to Madhu for surviving her present crisis

I was happy with that Telly Buzz article that RK was going to share his life journey with Madhu. Because that is how an experienced person trains an innocent...a mentor to student.

I was that passionate in my write-up because I was fearing that the psychological need by Madhu was being lost. I know that she needs a little bit of healing on day 1 ...like making her drink water to come out of shock...making her run errands so that she is distracted...soon it follows that she needed to be answered for the questions she had. I could have kept patience...but since its a drama, if I don't raise my voice...now the emotional response will be lost...

But see...how my plea was answered. The show creators are really thinking it from a deeper level Clap Clap Clap Truly this is not any teenager show...it is a mature subject. The next day of my thought process, I have the article. Brilliant thinking,,,,,,really brilliant,

And elaborating on Mentor to Student ...isn't the show all about RK shaping MB's life ? So he has to be that mentor...just that this man ...this attractive man is HER Maula and Qazi of her life...like MB's version of the song. He is her Nurturer, counsellor, provider, partner, director and we will see many facets of his down the lane...and which would explain why she thinks of him as her Maula and Qazi. True he is that recess which hold a mass of wealth...and MB keeps getting drawn to this recess...isn't that lure  a "Kaisa ye Ishq ? Kaisa ye juoon? ..Bekaraari mein tu hi karaar".

Once again ...brilliantly woven love story.

The complexities the show brings upon, reminds me of the teleserial that I saw over Doordarshan  in yore ..in late 80's..."Mujhrim Haazir Ho" ...That is another story of guilt, repentence, atonement as understood by a young man, a young child, who sacrifices his life just to atone the sins of his ancestors. Then I was a teenager...and I am sure I did not understand a lot, though it held my attention. Today, if I had seen it, I would have known what it was...Its a Bengali book based serial...hence I never read the book. May be I should look for translation.

Shamsher Malik and Padmini

Priya,
>>>>but Malik on the contrary had none to do the same and get his thoughts and actions straight. He basically needed a man to man conversation which he did not get at the right time and hence his anger and inability to fix his daughter's life made him take such a drastic step to kill someone like RK knowing fully well that he may not live to see the light of day and could end up in jail for the rest of his life. I am not at all angry at Malik as his intentions were sincere but his execution without taking into account the ramifications of taking someone's life is what has landed him in trouble. Of all the people, Padmini should know better not to throw a tantrum like this and leave the house.

Agree. Word to word. And the bolded there...so agree. The woman ...she just did her "palla jhaadhna". When all these years, the man like a deewana loved her daughters, even though not his blood, she could not see the deewanapan. And now cannot breathe under same roof. I may sound extreme...but years of camaraderie ...21 years of togetherness counts. We have right to be angry, but it is not kind to leave when the other needs support.
But then...I don't have any say. Malik's case is like you reap as you sow. If not jailed, he is being ostracized by his family (sort of). It reminds me of Valmiki's story. He was a thief, hunter something...he used to provide for his family that way. Narad Muni goes to him and asks him all these ethical questions on whether what you deem as doing for your family, do you think that they will support you in your actions when time comes to partaking of your sins when you are going to be judged by Yamraj. Valmiki replies with all confidence that his family members will be with him just as much as he lives for them. Narad asks to prove. Off goes Valmiki to his parents, his brothers and his wife. Everyone refuses to partake his sins. Everyone says, we are going by our dharma..as your dependents we enjoy what you provide, but we cannot be part of the means you employ to find the provisions. Valmiki realizes then, how all his ideals were wrong and then and there decides to follow the path of Dharma as it is the right path.

Shamsher Malik ...that is the story for you. Always think about yourself first...your dharma and your karma.

Shri - I loved your little Valmiki story and it was perfect for Malik considering what he went through for this woman and her daughters and how she repays him with her curt response and attitude. Like you said it earlier, clearly Malik would not be in this mess in the first place if he had not chosen to give up his life for this woman and his daughters. He probably would have been married to someone and had a family of HIS own and I am pretty sure HIS WIFE would never do what Padmini did today. Padmini used him all the while for her and her children's safety and now they are all grown up and have a life of their own does not need his help anymore and hence does not think twice before deserting him. It is indeed now which is the right time for her to repay his deeds by staying put and supporting him when he is feeling disgusted by his own actions. He is truly remorseful and regretting his actions. Madhu actually was more understanding of him than Padmini who should be the one trying to reason out why he did what he did other than chanting "meri beti ka pati". This "meri beti ka pati" is a reformed person only now after facing life and death situation but if it wasn't for Malik who saved her at the right time she would not have had a beti called Madhu and where would "beti ka pati" come. She is equally an emotional fool as RADUNCE (Credit goes to the person who came up with this word and I don't know the name of that person). I am liking it hence going to use it. RANGMUNCH REVIEW of SHAMSHER MALIK
Anyways...talking about complexities ...here's a write up on Shamsher Malik ...the broken man...from Rangmunch writers. Very poignant look at his fate and his current predicament. That's why accidents should not occur...if they occur, they better be absorbed and healed. That's the reason, I will not forgive Padmini for leaving him in lurch. She is as much responsible for his condition as he is.

Padmini

How selfish was Padmini today! Agreed! What Malik did was not right. But does she have to go to the extent of leaving the house to make him feel disgusted than what he is already feeling? The man sacrificed his entire life for her and her daughters and not once she thought about that selfless act before deciding to leave him. Also, what about Trishna? She is leaving the house without thinking of what might happen to Trishna. How would she feel about her mother leaving the house? If Padmini thinks that she is treating both the girls the same then she is wrong. She is ready to leave the house because she feels Madhu has been wronged but does she not think that she is also Trishna's mother and had to fulfill her obligations to her of being with her daughter? She only packed her clothes and on her way out tells that she can stay if she wants to but does she give her options? I know in anger Trishna told Padmini that there will always be bias when it comes to treating ones own child versus a step child. Today it made me think. Would she have done this to Madhu if it was Madhu in Trishna's place? I wonder..
Padmini's character is not properly developed, though she has a lot of story on her shoulders.
According to me for two reasons she should not have left Malik's house.
1) Out of consideration for Malik  2) She has no place to go anywhere. Period.

I would actually say this much of drastic character change in Padmini is for PLOT CLUNKINESS. Padmini is always used as a catalyst for forwarding RK-Madhu's relationship.
Poor actress, she had to come back from surgical operation recovery to shoot that RK insulting Padmini scene before.

Now, per the SBB trailers, she is going to make a pit stop at RK mansion, get yelled at, then shown all respect by her damaad...all of this so that Madhu gets the ILU dream. Sigh!!!
In a sense, she may provide strength to Madhu by showing everyone that she left the killer's house...
