Episode 240 Discussion: 8th April 2013

The Bermuda's triangle established. RK and Sultan messed up over Madhu and Madhu doesn't care for either.

Events of the episode
  1. The Love triange, which I call Bermuda's Triangle is established. RK has started getting excessively possessive over Madhu and scared that he will lose Madhu to Sultan. Sultan has fallen in love with Madhu. And Madhu is not inclined to oblige to either of them, though she flames up all their passions the wrong way. She does not want to respond to RK in any manner and She does not love Sultan at all.  However; Madhu is knowingly challenging RK why if she is interested in Sultan, she cannot move on, when he himself left her. This has convinced him that things have really gone wrong more than he imagined to be. Madhu is also unknowingly airing Sultan's feelings for her by further advices and kind words to him. Sultan solicits Madhu to be Aryan's caretaker in the event he dies and Madhu agrees, gives her word. When Sultan leaves Madhu remembers.
  2. RK- Radha scene had growing bonding with him asking forgivness of her for yelling on her before when she asked why he wanted to color Madhu first. He is also able to share with her how things between him and Madhu have soured beyond his imagination. Rk- Dips was a very good scene with Dipali showing him the mirror and asking him to see how his actions are no less disgusting as he thinks of her betrayal to him. He too has deceived Madhu by spurning her love. RK next day cancels his shoot when his day goes wrong with him caught and clogged too much in Madhu's memories.
  3. Sultan while going on work, driving his car, remembers his wife, how she died. He then remembers Madhu's kind words to take care of his life. He remembers all Madhu's kind gestures towards him and his son. He goes home and sleeps with Aryan. Next day, he is seen chatting with his son, asking him to study. Aryan, now is shown as no longer to be scared of his father and instead teases him about Holi color that Madhu applied. Further Aryan becomes the Matchmaker and places a call to Madhu and gives to Sultan. Madhu and Sultan have an awkward Hello and Silence. Episode ends.

Episode Reviews

My Review
Since it was a filler episode, I would like to do it in a way that appeals to me.

Total Airtime distribution between all characters
  1. Madhu -Sultan - 1.58 + .27 second = 2.25 mins (The Promise to Sultan and remembering RK)
  2. RK- Radha - 1 min (towards growing bonding with him asking forgivness. In this scene RK is so much better than my brother. Wish my brother was half as RK)
  3. Rk- Dips - 4.17 mins ( very good scene. Mirror Mirror. Show me who is the most kameena ?)
  4. Sultan - 2.3 min - driving (remembering his wife and Madhu)
  5. Rk- Bittuji - 17 seconds
  6. RK - 4.00 mins  - song (remembering Madhu)
  7. Madhu -Padmini - 50 second approx (Bore scene)
  8. Sultan-Aryan 1.42 min (Son-father bonding - very FORCED)
  9. Sultan -Madhu - .37 seconds (Awkwardness - ENUF already)
Total distribution between the three
  • RK - 9.34 mins
  • Madhu - 3.52 mins
  • Sultan - 4.22 min
Total airtime = 17.48 (removing all aage dekhiye and precaps)

The characters as they came across to me...
  • RK = Clown
  • Sultan = Good Man
  • Madhu = Any soap heroine

Who entertains me ?!!!!! Ofcourse the CLOWN !!!  LOL

And whose ring is this ? !!! ofcourse MEIEJ Ring leader - ST.  The way he weaves drama.LOL  I am just remembering his Gol-Matol face.

These men - ST & RS & the entire writing team...they are just a crazy bunch who weave any kind of drama around their clown.  Sab Maaf !!! Biggest Puppet in their hands is RK who is a Twister for MEIEJ drama.  Madhu belongs to Audience. Sultan too belongs to Audience. The ones exclusively used by them are RK, Padmini and Dipali. They can make them do any 180 degree turn these days and create laughter and disgust without being answerable to audience.

Again Woh Lamhe (Those Moments)  Song.
New Junoon - Shooting Cancel. Pack-up from home itself. Main aaj kuch alag karna chaahta hoon. And that is expressing Ishq and Junoon to Madhu - RK Style - all to Repossess/Reclaim Madhu.

About Dips- RK Scene, I had given my analysis in 239 EDT

Zoe,

That itself should tell you how much that man's ego is about being an egoist and not an egotist.

Rishabh Kundra is man who shut down his Rishabh persona to become RK. He has become RK through his response to external stimuli. He feels alive only with interaction and feels dead when alone.  So any interaction is fine with him.

And Rishabh Kundra is generally a bitter person, but he is not judgemental about people's flaws. He is okay with those flaws and therefore able to accept them around him and likewise show his kameenipanti to all of them, This is where his BBB comes.  Behind this mask of Kameenipanti and BBBing people, the drama that puts on...he is a vulnerable or sometimes motivated person to stay away from these people and yet keep those people close to him. He does this everyone.

Otherwise, tell me why would he dislike Kukkuji and yet keep an eye on all his activities and yet sometimes wishfully close his eyes. Its his choice when to let them be near him and when to send them away.

Dipali is also one such person. He did not keep her close. She happened to be part of his life being his Bhabhi.  She is his past, and only she deludes herself to be thinking capable of making herself his present. Rishabh Kundra is clear on that definition.

But just because she hurt him and she is not worth his attention, does not mean that Rishabh Kundra does not see any value in her. He has made himself this kameena. He was not born kameena. So why not keep people like Dipali around him and see their behaviour and understand the pattern, reasons of their kameenipanti.  So every interaction with Dipali is actually a benchmark for him...what kind of level he is maintaining. Better than her or lower than her.

And lastly...Rishabh Kundra, in matters of principle, when he is having difficulty in realizing others perceptions about him when he has been perfectly honest to his principle, he is ready to listen to any  Tom Dick and Harry's opinion on him. Because that gives him the needed information on others perception and then he sets his act accordingly.  So that's why he is an egoist who is self-centered for his own good and not an egotist as being a conceited person to get the kicks.  This dichotomy of his actions...when he might have wanted returns out of his conceited act and he himself is unable to enjoy the result, then the best person who can explain him his conflict is the other for sure conceited person.

Shri, my mood needed some serious uplifting today, and your post did it. I just love the entire summery, oh the clown reference was just hilarious.
Thank you so much for answering my question that was a wonderful analysis.   So, I guess egotism is the narcissistic version of the self while egoism is the not so selfish version of the self.  I just realized that an egoist's need NOT always have an inflated self-opinion, while an egotist is always driven to increase his own importance with an already high opinion towards himself.  I completely understand why you have labeled him as egoist.
After watching the scene between Dips and RK today, I recognized that Dips is the only force that constantly points out the dark side of his personality.  Although, Dips references are always done in a very disgusting and tasteless manner, it always gets his attention.  No one likes their actions to be compared with a person they despise the most.  Such a comparison can be considered alarming or better yet a wake-up call.  I'm really interested to see how he deals with his feelings in the next few episodes.  As you said he is the twister of the drama.

@SD: Loved your point about RK as the CLOWN...lol well the clown entertains me the most too...reading the main forum makes me wonder why ppl watched this show to begin with...

I'm reading theories like Sultan brings "stability" in Madhu's life...In all his "psycho" acts galore, RK  never managed to urge Madhu to SHOOT someone but hey if that's "stability", then I really should recheck the dictionary.

The writers donot seem to have learnt from the umpteen examples of love triangles gone wrong on Indian TV...how long have shows lasted with love triangles forced in like this...and usually the REVERSE holds true...women will buy love triangles if the second guy in question is the husband...there is the whole "oh they have to fall in love after shaadi" angle that soaps love to milk.

Well in the case of RK, they've already used that angle on him and Madhu...throwing Sultan in at this point for what?

The writers are creating easy sympathy for Sultan's character and women, especially the TRP audience is the first in line for it...well they can take the show whichever way they want but I have a feeling this turn of events is going to come back to haunt them big time...they are creating a monster they will  not be able to control.

RK is a tough character to write...to write his redemption without making him a typical sappy loverboy...to keep the unpredictability element alive along with showing character growth...but it seems in an attempt to do that, they are creating a foil like Sultan for viewers who like their characters predictably sketched for sympathy...in the attempt to "expand" their audience base, they may end up losing the core one and the very reason the show is popular.

I'm speechless today - in a bored kind of way. Because of all the spoilers, media bites etc etc everything that happened was known, except maybe the proposed trip to Shirdi. So, yawn.

But RK - he lights up my screen, his "packup" and "out" were giggle-worthy. The song was nice. The vodka was water. Madhu's red dress was made of polyester - how does she survive those hot arc lights?Deepali's eye makeup was awful.

Just another day in soap land..

G'night!

A filler episode...the star of today's episode was undoubtedly Dips

RK returns frustated and emotionally hurt from Chawl. When questioned by Radha, he apologizes for his rude behaviour earlier but then requests to be left alone. Dips shows RK another perspective on his relationship with Madhu for the first time. While RK is angry when this perspective casts him in worst possible light but it also kick starts his realization at jet speed. He immedietly begans to miss Madhu. Meanwhile Sultan garners a promise from Madhu to look after Aryan if something were to happen to him. He seems to be slowly and gradually falling in love with Madhu with Aryan playing cupid. Madhu is still clueless.

I have always found RK's perspective on revenge business interesting. From what I understand he believes that what he did was right...Madhu insulted him...made him a laughing stock in front of the people who admired, cared (in a fan kind of a way) and loved him. The emotional wound Madhu unwittingly delivered in name of justice shamed him and were there to stay for a lifetime (the slaps being captured on film). He felt broken. He thought he could never forget the entire fiasco. In his mind it was only fair that he deliver the same pain to her in interest of justice. He insulted her, made her a laughing stock in front of everyone and stamped his presence in her life in way that she would never forget the insult he bestowed on her. He expected her to feel as broken and shamed if not more after he cast her off.  he knew his method was wrong but he thought that the end was justified and fair. This is the very reason he has always been unrepentant.
However today Dips showed him a different way to look at what he did. He did not deliver justice but instead betrayed someone he might have loved. If Dips walked away from him for material pleasures, he walked away from Madhu for his version of justice. If Dips was wrong to walk away frrom love for money...he too was wrong to walk away from Madhu for his revenge. Today he saw himself standing in Dips place and Madhu standing in his place and that realization finally made him open his eyes to reality  and his feelings for Madhu...hence he saw her everywhere. I loved the entire sequence.

I have two questions now-

Why is it that 5 minutes of Sultan frustate me so much on screen? There is no rhyme nor reason to how he is behaving...but then Madhu has been giving him mixed signals...and somehow what he knows and thinks scares me for Rishbala. From his perspective
1) RK  loves Madhu
2)Madhu has moved on from RK
3)RK is taking advantage of his power and relationship to stalk Madhu and force her in a corner against her wish.
4)Madhu is interested in him
5)Madhu is an ideal mother for Aryan and a close substitute for his wife

If Madhu were ever ready to accept RK back at any point, he would assume that she might have been forced into it and run to provide her his protection and maybe even try to get her for himself. He will not hesitate using Aryan once he decides he wants Madhu.

How is it that everyone on this show is so smart but so blind to his own feelings and actions- From Paddy to Radha, From Dips to Trishna..From RK to Madhu?

Am pretty excited about precap...but more than anything I want to know what will compel Madhu to accept back RK.

hey, I tweeted ST on this...think he actually acted on it??
Whenever I'm upset with the serial, and totally vela, I tweet ST on silly things like this...for my own cheap thrills...I don't mention the serial at all, because he will only say...don't wait and don't watch.

Thanks Soundaray22! I think it was a bit of an eye sore for all of us, to see the same bed sheet everyday.

Although the new one looks strikingly similar to the earlier one...

I'm wondering whether I'm getting way too personally involved in this show. LOL - I almost felt a physical sense of relief when I saw those fresh sheets (you know the kind of feeling you get when you slip into bed with freshly laundered sheets and pillowcases...Aaahh!)
