Episode 194 Discussion: 13th Feb 2013

To Lut Gaye Hum Teri Mohabbat Mein  - Madhu to RK

Events of the episode
Tadap Tadap ke is Dil se aah nikalti hai...song is played. Shocked Madhu led by Padmini, taken to Chawl. Trishna comes there and  together she and Padmini, try jolting Madhu out of her stupor. Padmini, unwillingly but very stoically starts taking the green bangles from Madhu's hands. When she goes for Madhu's Mangalsutra, Madhu instinctively grabs hold of it and after a minute herself pulls it hard and walks to the closet and keeps it safely there...looks as if she needs to preserve it. Then she listless falls down on the bed corpse like. As she tries to close her eyes and sleep away or forget away everything, she starts remembering all that RK said to her. She jolts herself up in pain, in derison and runs out. Padmini wants to follow her, Trishna stops her and asks let Madhu be alone. They however follow Madhu behind keeping an eye on her. As Madhu walks over the corrider, she sees a movie poster fof RK with title being Ahankaar. Madhu feels very closely about the larger than life size poster of RK and as she keeps looking at RK's face, her eyes rest on the word Ahankaar (Ego). Suddenly reality starts dawning on her that how that ego has destroyed her love and how now she stands there betrayed in love. A very surreal experience Madhu goes through looking at the poster, RK and Ahankaar looming bigger and bigger for her and she breaks out of her stupor. She starts letting go of her pain...Trishna and Padmini support her.

Episode Reviews
The denouement continues.
Yesterday was  Padmini-RK, Dipali-RK, today it was Padmini-Madhu and Trishna Madhu.

Trishna, realized that she contributed to her sister's unhappiness through her cursing. That day I had said, if Madhu is strong nothing will happen, considering the weak character of Trishna. I was not self-serving that day while saying that...just that it gets difficult to believe that Trishna has that much conviction to make things happen...if she was truly strong and honest, she would never has been envious of her sister and cursed her in happy times. But inspite of her weak personality, the self-realization that she may have contributed to her sister's unhappiness touched me. Trishna gets a brownie from me today.

Trishna gets another brownie today, the way she was able to hold Madhu and let her cry. She was weeping less and let Madhu cry...because yes, it was not her time to cry, it was her time to be a support. And the actors here...Arti Puri and DD looked extremely comfortable with each other.

Padmini's unwilling and yet necessary acts of removal of Madhu's bangles and mangalsutra kicked in some kind of reaction from Madhu. Madhu pulled the mangalsutra from her neck and saved it, as if a history that better be remembered.

Those were the objective things but rest of Madhu's scenes were pure imagery. If RK is expressed through dialogues, then Madhu is expressed through silence but strong evocative imagery. All I can remember is red hue and the lighting over various shades in the entire scene, be it the poster, the stairs or the walls. It was like an impressionistic painting.

The dominant RED HUE
Madhu's presence throughout the episode is like RED HUE...Madhu in red saree...the symbol of marriage, life, passionate love, anger, violence, warfare...walking towards the surrealistic presence of her husband, the man she loved; represented through the poster...and it starts becoming an emotional experience for with her concentrating on him and slowly her narrowing it down to the Man's expressed persona as the Ahankaar,  totally appealed to me as an impressionistic painting altogether for the longest time...imprinting a memory. Clap

The surreal presence of RK around her

The emotional experience through focussing and juxtaposition and finally drawing the equation. RK=Ahankar

That experience elicits response from Madhu...which at first is very surreal with her being passive to both being in acceptance and denial state of what RK said to her...and slowly it brings her to realistic levels...
This last image was the best. Look at the lighting...the light used in various shades...with gradually weakening of red hue and blue light emerging more and more...which is calming and commanding...and thus signifying restoration of reality for Madhu.

Apt one. Extension of the promo for tomorrow. So on Valentine's day, evil RK is gonna call Biwi Biwi in his sleep. And that is supposed to be viewer's Valentine Gift.

But on serious note...Seems in coming days evil RK is actually gonna start talking with his imaginary Madhu like Hook in that pic.

And the girl's dialogue is so apt...if Madhu's ever gonna think of getting even with him. Seems deadly dialogue...though I have no clue who is Vanessa for Captain Hook!!!

Do you see Once Upon a time on ABC ? The guy who is playing Hook is really handsome! Is he not ??

@ bold...
What about a top hat and a monocle?? What's a good villian without a top hat and a monocle.  I think it would just complete the picture!
Seriously Syl and Zorica, your pictures had me laughing. Excellent work ladies!  I was told that I needed to get in here to see what was going on and I was not disappointed.  I must say though it brought to mind an evil villian that used to be in Rocky and Bullwinkle, an animated show I watched as a little kid:

I can't be the only one that can see the resemblance, can I?

PS - Syl : Captain Hook from Once Upon a Time is all kinds of hot.. I mean, not a huge fan of guyliner as a rule but the man could pull off anything, the sexy accent helps lol
J'taime <sigh>
