Madhu gets sanction from her Mother
Episode 130 Discussion - 22nd Nov 2012
Events of the Episode
- RK settles the 40 lacs drama between Radhaji and Padmini. Reminds everyone that his marriage to Madhu is not about 40 lacs but has deeper context than that, money just being part of it. He still prefers the relationship to be kept personal between RK and MB.
- He asks Padmini to go and chat with Madhu in his room. Before leaving for shooting, he assures his MIL (Saasumaa) that though everyone has alienated Madhu, he has not and he will take care of Madhu. Padmini is very pleased and comforted.
- Padmini advises Madhu to take her marriage to next level now as RK is in every way honoring his marriage with Madhu and duly taking care of her and respecting her.
- Padmini leaves home to cook for Trishna and Shamsher...away from Shamsher's house and gets the food for them. Her way of showing anger, pain and betrayal to Shamsher and yet taking care of him and Trishna as her duty in the sense of a family.
- Madhu, after her mother leaves, is all longing to be in RK's company. Spots RK's phone, left at home. Decides to go to studio to give it to him. RK senses her presence, looks for her, finds her and aks why she is here. Episode ends.
My take over the episode
Bass phark itna hai ki yahaan pe blank checques nahin phat rahe ROFL
That was RK reminding us of 80's and 90's cinema with pet act of hero and heroine to get a prize money from the parents for letting the other go.LOL. - Underlying theme is towards commemoration of 100 years of Cinema.
The dialogues...like Kya Keemat hai Iski ? Then tearing the blank cheque scene used to be such a dramatic scene in yore, that every movie buff, would be knowing what were our reactions. As kids, we used to enact such scene, make a parody in class room or when playing with friends/cousins. It used to be such a ridiculous invention and a prop scene just as the ridiculous prop of song and dance like Ta Thyayya O Oh, -2 TumTana Tana (from Himmatwaala moviel- link just in case you are curious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs7-zGQMy3w&feature=related ). I like these tid-bit reminders of blasts from the past.
Hilarious end to a ridiculous drama from RADUNCE. This woman has stopped becoming a leaky tap and has started to think from her heel. Ever heard of any negotiation where instead of give and take, on both sides it is give and give. Radha is just a DUNCE with that kind of formation of equation. How did she even think it could be understood by anyone ! Radunce leaves the money there and goes... No respect to Money or indirectly giving the money back to her son.
Reasonably done denouement to the 40 lakhs le lo , beti ko le jao drama with the "char thappad ke liye thodi na chaar phere liye jaate hain". An apt answer to Rads uncalled for "baat 40 lakh se shuru hui thi, wahi khatam kar dete hain". RK reminded everyone, that 40 lakhs is no way linked to any of the vendetta and there is much more to meaning to his marriage that only him and his Biwi know the reasons thereof. By saying "char thappad ke liye thodi na chaar phere liye jaate hain" ...he was reiterating that Baat 4 thappad se shuru hui thee, but RK invested his fate along with Madhu's to make out something. That's what he was saying in that fashion.
Scene between DiPUTZ and RADUNCE can be ignored. It lacked the spark to ignite me into combustible mode. Thanda...
Fine they did not glorify RK in front of Padmini. He remained an entertainer, a nautanki with his maskhari with Saasumaa full-on. Emphasis on Tang bhi na...Wow! Padmini knows how to joke with her Damaad !
And to keep viewers like me happy, they showed Padmini cooking for both Malik and Trishna. So fine she is taking care of them in the way she thinks is right. Okay...I will not mind that as long as one or the other way Padmini continues to take care of them. Liked it when she said, yeh to mera farz banta hai. But what still doesn't make sense is cooking in an house where Roma is absent, where kitchen looks the same Malik's kitchen...and what kind of economics are being followed...I guess like same kitchen being shared by both Saas and Bahu for their separate cooking.
And finally coming to the most important part of the episode. Padmini yet again becoming the guide to Madhu and asking her to the marriage to the next level...she is prompting Madhu to honor the marriage just as we have been saying, or atleast the way I was saying...asserting her Biwi rights to be an equal and capable partner to hubby...(remove pillow and demand the right to complete her 3 pheras ) . And Madhu...whenever her mother says something, she has to listen to it. Bas phir kya...sanction mil gaya maa se...and Madhu ne chod diya apne aap ko RK se pyaar ke Maayajaal mein.
If you ask me...its too soon for Madhu to have all those lovey dovey thoughts in the room as soon as her Maa leaves. Nope its not wrong. She can feel light-hearted and pondering, but there was no need for Madhu to play out "Geet kind of falling in love expressions". It was
There have been so many romantic scenes in Bollywood which are more beautiful and slow...The problem with MEIEJ is that it is excelling in enacting the drama of intensity and passion. But when it comes to enacting the romantic expression, there are being plot failures. They induce false situations instead of developing in normal manner. They need to do homework on
- Deepening Madhubala's character in terms of body language and verbal expressions. Her basic character is nicely developed but that does not mean that she has to be MUTE and expressive through her eyes. When it comes to romantic acts, the writers are not helping DD at all. They are forcing her to fall back on previous acting experience. This is so NOT DONE. This is being unjust to DD. She deserves better from her creatives.
- The romantic track ...the writers seem to be very scared when writing these scenes and hence they go for dream sequences rather than adding dialogues to bring romance. May be it is too much of hard work to write dialogues at subtle level.
What I liked today, towards the romance is that RK sensed Madhu's presence even before Madhu was on the sets. And I liked DD's portrayal of Madhu's innocent face and pure heart-felt dazed expression when she looked at RK. He feels her and she is lost in him.
Episode gets a B from me and more of a filler kind. If anyone misses watching...they really would not have missed any progression in terms of story or missed romantic scenes between RK and Madhu.
Have to say that Mood of the episode is set by Padmini ...Shringara element set by her...with Saasumaa- Damaad scene, Mother-Daughter/s scenes and planting the seed in Madhu's mind that she can feel for her husband.
Criticism:
Creatives : Please add mannerisms and behavioural patterns to Madhu's character.

The episode belonged to Padmini!!!! Pallavi Purohit is doing a fab job
The sasuma-damaad interaction was too good... Pads sympathising with Rads situation too was understandable(she being a mother herself) but the CV's didn't have to make Madhu the adarsh bahu...Madhu's reaction was totally uncalled for even after hearing that her husband feels betrayed by her actions in the past... For Godsake, he had told her that he had to share his mother's love with another man at such a tender age... She completely sidelined her husbands anguish and pains... And that too for a woman who at the drop of a hat changes sides and doesn't use that freaking brain she has got... She just saw how lowly she thinks of her that she offered money to leave her husband...
Padmini's scene at the chawl was much needed atleast for me...All along i was thinking that it was a hasty decision to not give the man a chnace to explain... But when she brought food for him, trish and told that how could I not be concerned about the man and then going on to say that she needs time to come to terms was completely agreeable... You sometimes need me time to understand and cope up with a situation and I totally respect her decision... hats off to her today... And every time I see Padmini, I get annoyed with Rads all the more

What does RK actually obsess about ?
So I was thinking along these lines because it dawned in my reflections about RK's actual obsession. We all think RK will obsessively want to possess Madhu, loves her and yet will never allow her to confess even if she loves him extremely...
But you know what, the way he felt her presence today even before he saw her, and the way he softly asked her "Biwi tum yahaan set par" upon seeing her in that concerned manner, I gathered that it is not about his obsession to possess Madhu. It is his obsession not to get deceived. He shall not be deceived and he will not allow anyone to deceive him.
Why he likes Madhu now, after his logical marriage to Madhu under then circumstances, is because he sees her "golden heart" like Shamsher presented his daughter to him...Meri Nanhi si Bacchi, uska sone jaisa dil, uske chote chote sapne. He saw the golden heart twice when she saved him; once in studio and other time when he was shot. And she took care of him too.
Why trusts Madhu and hence wants her to be in his life. Because she is trustworthy. And more importantly, Madhu, if she has to fight, challenge or hurt RK, she does it to his face in all openness, whereas hides her good acts from him. RK is also the same. He hides his good acts and he accepts to himself that he is bad and capable of ruthless acts. However, unlike him; Madhu will never employ Machiavellian methods to get back at him should she ever decide that. Madhu has no bone to think ill of anyone.
Because of these qualities of Madhu, RK in order to preserve himself he would want to cherish Madhu always. But because of his obsessive feelings of never ever to get decieved, he is denying Madhu the happiness of fulfilling her rights to care for RK as husband. Soon in love, RK may not allow Madhu to confess her feelings, as he wouldn't want him to expect anything from her...as that would be opening doors to allow deception back into his life. This is all in their personal relationship, within their bedroom.
Now, think out of the box, change the setting. Make it Public...under all glare...RK would be happy to romance with Madhu. Why? Because he will not be threatened with his obsessive fear of getting deceived. Everything will be in the open. And if he proposes to Madhu or expresses his affection for Madhu; in his opinion, Madhu will never be able to deny her affection in public...true to her character. So I think, when Love outgrows his obsessive need to protect himself, he may try to look ways to express his love to her in open. May be this is where her becoming the film star will help him. He can openly romance with her without any fear. He will love her as RK, but actually feed Rishabh Kundra's desires through that act...and a point will come when he will need to reconcile RK and Rishabh Kundra with regards to Madhu, as she is the one who will be seeing both personalities at all the times and accomodating both of them through her understanding.
Look, he doesn't have a qualm being fed by her before everyone, but cannot submit himself to her loving eyes when in bedroom; especially if he is in his vulnerable state. We always used to laugh at the PDA acts of Rishbala.
Disclaimer:
This is just my theory. The way I felt when seeing these dream sequences of either of them. Madhu certainly has the wondering expressions when she dreams...it tells us how much she is repressed in her conscious serious state. RK may want to free up that repressed self in her and at the same time find solace for his conciously suppressed feelings for her when in Rishabh Kundra mode (not RK mode).
Rangamunch review - good one on letting go hate/apathy to allow love/empathy...
