Episode 214 Discussion: 8th March 2013

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster - Sultan drops Madhu at Chawl Gate. Chawl Drama of Feb 11th Reversed - Private Screening -Madhu gives it back to RK. 

Events of the Episode

1. Tujhe Bhula Diya song for Rishbala...specifically for RK that he has to forget Madhu as nothing can hold him now to her..but the memories remain to torment him.
2. Sultan unimpressed with his son Aryan and Madhu for disobeying his orders. Asks Aryan to repeat his order. Aryan repeats that he was supposed to sleep alone. When Madhu tries to lecture him on the right ways of parenting, Sultan blindfolds her as he has decided to send her off from his home. We are revealed about this by Aryan who comforts Madhu and tells her that Sultan will drop her at her home.
3. Sultan's right hand/servant informs Sultan that she is RK's Biwi. Sultan drops Madhu at Chawlgate , but not before watching RK patrolling in the chawlyard, and warning Madhu that she is not to tell anyone what transpired last night lest herself and her husband RK might die.
4. Chawl Drama of Feb 11th Reversed - Madhu gives it back to RK. Mind it, its Private Screening for RK and Audience only. But Radhaji watched it slyly.  Circle completed. Madhu rejected RK before Radhaji like RK rejected Madhu before Padmini. What goes around comes around. Pvt Screening was specifically chosen by Madhu. She could have made it Family screening, but she did not. 
5. Madhu lies about her Self Lost and Found drama from Jungle to Chawl to Padmini and Trishna. Her face is looking mighty sad for her lying to them probably or could also be the fact that she just accomplished with RK what she had been deliberating for a while...to reject his attention and to remind him he is no one to her, but a Superstar over a Cardboard . Sultan did help her decide at least one thing with his threat, that she has to distance RK from herself. Episode ends

Episode Review - Mine

Totally unimpressive episode. Not because the CVs painted a clunk drama or something. Its again the character flaws that fail to impress me.

Apparently Madhu has given it all to RK and yet the obvious reality  to the contrary is that she absorbed the pain of it more than she can take it.  Madhu was living the pain of giving a lie to all to adhere to Sultan's threat. She lied to her family (mother & sister) and she masked the vision for RK and she was showing the pain on her face.

The threat from Sultan: You will not tell any one what happened last night, else your husband and you will not live.

Madhu is all about less words and only self-righteous decisions. So what does she decide, as in how much weightage to give to that threat ? If she really feared Sultan, why was she yapping in front of him. If She did not fear Sultan, then why not tell Padmini and Trishna what happened in the forest and how she was threatened by Sultan not to tell anyone. Shouldn't a normal person be able to tell this much to her family. RK is not anyone to her now...so she can ignore telling him, forget him, but atleast tell her family...!!!!

But Nope. Madhu is so concerned about RK just like he was concerned for her, that she protected him alongside of lecturing him. She distanced him in front of her family as she should, but under the current circumstances, if she was not under the weight of threat, as the normal soft girl that Madhu is, she would atleast have told politely everyone that she is all safe. Afterall Madhu is never rude for unnecessary reasons. But she ignored RK...the first actual sign from her side to distance him from her so that he doesn't ask her wherabouts and soon she used his anger, his attitude to her advantage and gave him the truth that he is no one to her and should not be concerned about her. 

I would have been impressed by Madhu, if she had shown a face that had some spark of brightness for the deed she accomplished, about being able to show RK his worth in her life. But nope, she chooses to enter purgatory for not being to tell RK the reality of her situation (all of it) and for not being true to her family as well. Why O Madhu Why? Why would you at this age want to burden yourself with things more than you can absorb. For once, how about behaving as a young woman with happy spirit and not as someone who is willing to be a martyr for everyone...for Aryan, for RK, fooling your mother, fooling your sister with whole Mumbai Police employed by your hubby...

Madhu is becoming a Hamlet . To do or Not to do ...that is the Question in Everything for her and she has chosen to live in purgatory.

Apparently RK, through the song "Tujhe Bhula Diya" has realized that he has lost rights on Madhu and yet he keeps thinking of her, concerned for her. Very apt lyrics for him...that male voice and very rightly he is imagining his revenge drama and the byproduct of that drama - the beautiful time he had with her. He also imagined the post revenge drama scenes. And he is reminding himself through the song, that he lost all rights and yet is concerned of her. 

And if that mental pain was not enough, instead of retreating from the Chawlyard; the moment he saw her ignoring his questions when she came back, he stood his ground to have his answers. He needed to go through rejection and humiliation. What kind of ego is that which refuses to listen to his what his heart or soul is speaking out to him. Or was he thinking, hearing from the horse's mouth about his reality, would actually pull him off the purgatory he landed himself into. 

I would have been impressed had RK acted upon what his mind told him that he has lost his right. I would have been impressed had RK felt satisfied by what Madhu gave him as a reality check and he walked away in peace. But Nope. He left the place in anger. Why O RK Why? Why would you act so stupid against all logic.

RK is becoming a King Lear. Appearance is all that matters with no acceptance towards reality and he chooses Hell for himself.

Why O Why these two souls torment me so much? 

All I wish to see is good drama, few laughs !!! 

Lo talking about laughs...Let me talk about Madhu's chemistry with Sultan and RK. Hilarious. 

The drama of contrasts and Constrasting Chemistry

Madhu yaps and Sultan just ignores her and blindfolds her eyes.  

When Madhu met RK for the first time, she knew she was going to meet a man against whom she had lodged a case. She yaps at him too and RK clapped and asked her to continue.  RK disarmed her by induging in a mental combat with her. He engaged her into seeing him into his eyes and making her go quiet at what she wanted to speak to him about.  In contrast Sultan silences Madhu's yapping by physically overpowering her, a disarming act where she loses the sight of the object at whom she was yapping. Now what kind of chemistry is coming up.  Madhu was angry with RK in their first meeting, so much that she went against Sudhakar's warning and continued to fight with RK. Here with Sultan, Madhu is not having much chance to get engaged in conversation with him, not even looks are happening. She did bond with his kid but the man shows no interest in her. Such a contrast. One was passionate experience and the other is indifferent experience. I would have liked to add cold...unfortunately Sultan has not instilled fear in audience mind yet, because Madhu is not scared of him.  Now that brings me back to the million dollar question again...why Madhu is acting so scared in the Chawl if she was not scared in Sultan's place.

If it is NOT clunk, can I call CV's dilemma ? Or have they really done their homework well.

Is the build-up of flaws and stupidity really that important at this juncture ? Having said that the CVs have exactly been successful through all this drama that, RK and Madhu may be flawed, totally stupid with no logic in their actions, poised to end themselves in tragic endings, but they flare up each other's passions. They come alive in their craziness before each other...while he is sane if Madhu is not there, while she is a simple girl when RK is not there, but the moment they are with each other, Madhu gets his shine, takes his glory and RK loses his shine and takes her madness.  In contrast, Sultan has not been able to any such give and take with Madhu, nor he has bowed down to her madness. Interesting equations...Though Sultan by himself is really impressive. 

Let's see how much stupidity I have to bear. Can't believe at my loony act for writing so much for the unimpressed acts of RK and Madhu.

WOW !! when you do not watch the episode and you see these posters, its like enticement towards the movie.   Impressed. I was like after reading the review, whats there to see...but that darkness !!! it pulls me now...

Wow!!! Liked the dark colors (the night light) of the all the three posters so far. The scenery is so different from regular soaps like SSK (which is all bright white - stark)...DBAH (this has good set for the house and surrounding street - like lighting and ambience- the night scenes used to be beautiful),  BV (is good with the sets and scenery around, but they shoot in too much white light). In MEIEJ, they shoot with night on over their FilmCity set or indoor sets, and I like this very much...takes away the soapy feeling of being stuck in the living rooms.

 where we get to see Sultan with his I don't care who you are married to and how big your husband is look. I like AR and am eagerly waiting for AR/RK face off just like @Shri when that happens

Episode Summary:

Madhu and RK both thinking of each other, naina lagya baarishan..beautiful song. RK at the chawl, unmindful of the inclement weather, thinking of Madhu, waiting for madhu. Madhu with Aryan, hugging him for comfort (like a teddy bear) as she thinks of RK.Sultan walks in, Aryan wakes up scared. he puts on his braces.Sultan tells him...as per the rules, Aryan is supposed to sleep alone, be brave. Madhu tries to say something, but he stops her. Sultan blindfolds madhu...Madhu is confused, protests. 

Old kaka (for want of a better name), comes with Madhu's address, probably keeping a track of the police alerts, tells Sultan she is 'kisi RK ki biwi'. Aryan tells Madhu , she was being kept at home till it was safe, now Sultan will drop her home.

Sultan stops at the chawl, sees RK, and asks her ...tumhara pati. Madhu jumps up, RK? she asks. She removes her blindfold and sees RK pacing. Sultan threatens her and RK, if she opens her mouth about what transpired that night. She gets down and walks towards RK. She is happy to see him, but something changes while they're walking towards each other, and her expression changes. RK notices Sultan just as the car window rolls up. RK follows Madhu, asks her about her whereabouts, she ignores him and walks ahead. Meanwhile Paddy, Trishna, Radha, Bittuji notice her and come runnning. Padmini asks her what happened. RK keeps questioning her, she ignores him and answers Trishna. RK gets increasingly agitated. Madhu asks her family to leave. She warns RK not to yell at her, RK tells her not to ignore him. RK also asks her about the man who came to drop her off. Madhu finally BBBs him royally, asks him who he is,tum hamare ho kaun?? RK starts to say...pa.. stops himself, and Madhu tells him he is nobody to her, they have no relationship, he is Superstar RK. SHe walks off, leaving an upset RK, and an upset Radhaji, who btw, was listening to the convo. 

Madhu gives her family a lame story about how she got lost in the jungle, and someone gave her a lift. Noone thinks of telling her, accepting a life from strangers in a jungle is dangerous. Paddy and Trishna are happy she's back home, leave her alone. 

My thoughts:

• If i could find a simple reason for Madhu's concern with the child, i would say, the child gave her a distraction,  a reason to smile for a bit. For a short while, she was able to forget her own tension. Though that still does'nt explain why she did'nt seem even a bit concerned that she was being held captive!! Madhu giving Sultan a lecture, that is her nature. However, for once, her target Sultan just did'nt seem impressed with her lecture or with her looks. 
• Sultan seems uninterested in Madhu or RK, she was obviously an irritant that night. My guess is the child would want to meet madhu and that's how their story would unfold...whatever the story is
• RK-Madhu 's scene at the chawl...Raghuvir Shekhawat had said in his interview that the dynamics of their relationship  would always keep changing. In the changed DNA of romance, the ball is in RK's court. He has to admit that he loves her. And this time, Madhu is in control, Madhu will not help him, will not understand him, will not get manoed before he can start manofying her, as he told her post the Dipali love test confrontation. This time, he has to pass the love test, if Madhu will deign to even give him one. The thing is, RK is still far far away from realising his love. Currently, he wants to have his cake and eat it...that is keep up the revenge act, and show his concern when he wants...
• Sad part...the whole drunken scene between them has been relegated to the background for now. ..am sure it will return, through RK-Madhu's memories, but for now, it s alvida. 
• Bit disappointed with Padmini today. I honestly thought she would be a bit more aggressive with madhu, in asking her what actually happened, whether it was connected to RK. In fact,  I had even imagined her telling Madhu she is never to go back to the shoot, in front of RK. Ha ha ha...me and my imagination.
• Trishna diplomatically pulling her mom away. She noticed RK's acute tension, Madhu's curtness and realised the situation needed a chat b/w RK-Madhu. How has she become so mature? 
• Very obvious use of BD...episodes seem rushed and unplanned, though today was better than yesterday's epi

What an episode! A complete U turn from yesterday in terms of tightness, editing, dialogues and storyline.

RK got a taste of what he deserves. You go Madhu!

Madhu finally got home and tossed a few lies hither and thither.

We got to see a bit more of new guy and I must say, he's doing good. 

Random observations -

In terms of ambience it was a dark episode, all in the night, with thunder, lightning and wind tossing the characters around - foreboding the storm to come perhaps? 

Sultan has a black sedan as opposed to RK's white cars...symbolic?

RK, RK, RK - buddy, you've got it bad, and you're realizing it only now. So you still think of yourself as her "pati"??? Tch, tch, she's been there, done that, man. Don't expect her to acknowledge that (or any) relationship with you any time soon, except perhaps when she's sozzled...

I wonder why MAdhu kept silent today and didn't tell anyone about Sultan? She did see that he's capable of real terror, so is she thinking she's protecting RK and her family? But then, isn't she the idealist who always does the right thing?? Shouldn't she be reporting the shootout in the jungle to the cops? I'm curious to see what she'll do next...

Sultan to Madhu: "Goli/police se darr nahi lagta, tumhare bhaashanbaazi se dar lagta hai"... For a minute, I thought he was going to gag her.

The only disappointment was not having a face-off between RK and Sultan.. Let's see how long CV's make RK and Sultan play hide-n-seek with each other!

Why didn't Madhu ask about how Sultan knows her home,etc...

More than Sultan, his house-keeper/right-hand man looks scary to me...He is almost like some bhatakti aatma...

The best part of the episode obviously had to be Madhu driving some hometruths to RK... RK Dude, you must have surely heard this saying "Jaisi karni waisi bharni"... chalo bhugto... 

I really liked it when Madhu was told "aise hi haath hila ke aa rahi ho jaise kuch hua hi nahi"...unfortunately it was the wrong person who asked her that... Madhu should have been reprimanded for that but alas!!!

Madhu, apne maa ke sahare , balveer banti ja rahi hai  and the Ma doesn't even know what the girl is upto half the time!!!! fighting and lecturing gangsters, getting caught in may be a gang-war,etc

Precap: Looks like RK is still going to be a nalayak and nikamma...

Supposedly when Madhu left Sultan's home, it was 5 in the morning... If sultan's home was in khandala or anywhere nearby, it should have taken a min of 3 hours to come to Mumbai right? It should have been a bright and a sunny morning... The question is where exactly is Sultan's home?

I just loved todays epi thank god it was way better in terms of logic from yesterdays epi. Today every character was shining with their role. Except Paddy.

Epi started with beautiful song which moulded according to situation it was always good to see Rishabala's old beautiful days.

I really like the way Sultan handled Madhu it was way to different than RK. Sultan reminds me Maan from Geet may be because of cloths or may be because of his silent treatment. Sorry if i offended anyone but i just can't ignore anything related to Geet. I don't know why Madhu is always ready with her lectures i was like get a life u need to be out of here as soon as possible rather than teacing him abt parenting. Like the cute bond between Aryan and Madhu it may be going to be reason of Sultan's entry in Rishabala's life.

I really don't want to think on lines that Sultan is blast from past of RK untill i get some strong hints. So sultan threated Madhu to be silent is that one of the reason that Madhu didn't answer RK's question? The one thing i like most in Madhu that she always confronts RK in alone she never involved third person between them be it love or hatread this itself is proof that how much she respect their relationship in past she never made mockery of that in front of others.

So finally bitter reality came crashing down on RK he deserve those words from Madhu, what he was thinking when he was accusing her being with other man how dare he whatever might be the reason he really don't have any right to ask that question moreover is that he is jaleous ohh god he really need to sort out his feelings now its high time. I really didn't like Radhaji spying she needs to give them privacy specially when it was clearly indicated by Madhu that they need to talk in alone.

Overall it was really very nice epi. After two days torture today i am feeling satisfied
