Watchmani aur Vakalat kar rahaa hoon Bhabhiji ki
Says Who ? Says Bittuji, Our hero, our Colors GPA Chaheta award winner !
Episode 137 Discussion: 3rd Dec 2012
Episode events:
Madhu was waiting and RK and determinedly sitting in the studio. Rest of the KC enjoying crowd, the women and Bhatias, enjoyed KC...seeing the moon and breaking the fast and having fun at the expense of Madhu's misfortune of not having the husband around.
The star of the episode was Bittuji. He was as determined as his Bhabhiji to make her first KC Vrat successful. He brought her the pooja ka Thaal by stealing and bribing Sikky, in RK's own home. Then he goes to his Chief to plead him to come home. That one, I need not write...Here is Telly Tadka review on the same.

My Episode Take
The waiting goes awn and awn for Madhu and the viewers. Kab aayega RK, Kab tootega Madhu ka Vrat.
Only two highlights.
1. Bhabhi Se Dipali !!
Madhu called Dips Bhatia as Dipali. Hope no more of Dipali Aalaap.
It was like Dips was all along expecting it for Madhu to say it and so she ridiculed Madhu at her lagging. How did she say it...Bhabhi se Dipali ? LOL !!!
2. Bittuji - The Hanuman of his Siya Ram. (I coined).
He stole the thaali, he negotiated with Sikky for the thaali, he pleaded with Chief, explained, yelled and cried in frustration at his Chief's hard heartedness...everything for his Bhabhiji and his Chief. He told his Chief how his Bhabhiji had the Mohabbat, Shiddat and Guroor for her Pati. He cried in pain, why his Chief shuns away happiness with his own hands.
Bittuji exact dialogue "7 pheron waale beewiyon bhi Bhabhiji ki Mohabbat, Shiddat aur Guroor ke aage, kuch nahin..."
Bittuji and RK scene, with that intensity matched that of Asrani and Amitabh scene in movie Abhimaan. It was almost the same, with different context and different dialogues.
Will give a B.
I will not call it dragging, as they showed the Bhatias ridicule at Madhu's devotion. They are convinced that Madhu's devotion is all a fake drama, just because her 40% husband did not turn up to break her fast. They refuse to see that the wife fasted no matter what. That fasting is not recognizable and worthless just because she fails to be a certified Pati Vrata coz ISI Mark certifying Pati is missing. Welcome to the vanities and vagaries of the so called judges of Pati Vrata Sthri, for whom intentions and devotions do not matter, the keeping of the fast for 15 to 16 hours is not worth noticeable and commendable as there is no one to break that fast.
What would humanity do ? leave the woman alone ? or make her a butt of ridicule as the laughing subject at their KC dinner party ?

I watched the episode again, I know not everyone is happy with it but I liked it. It was heart wrenching to watch Madhu today but I guess it was needed. This episode was about Madhu's faith and trust in RK being tested. I found myself pleading to RK please get up and go, but more over, it would be a slap in the face the Bhatia's who think they know RK so well. Let me tell you, they obviously don't know the bond Madhu and RK have. Madhu's faith is going to bring RK to her, for the first time, someone has so much faith in him. It is bound to shake his very being. The three times, RK got hurt was when he had faith in the wrong people. Lets ask, is he going to do the same to Madhu? No, he won't. Bittuji's words and RK's restlessnes, his anger, is proof of his inner turmoil. He can't believe that Madhu would have so much trust and faith in him. Coz he thinks he is a Jaanwar and according to him he is not trustworthy...but that's where he contradicts himself. He is the most trustworthy person on this show.
I have to admit, I was in awe of Madhu's faith that he would come. Der se hi sahi but he will come. I feel that this episode re-iterated what RK has been scared of. His wife considers him her full husband and its scary for him but at the same time, this was needed to knock some sense into him. I would like to see the look on everyone's face when he comes and breaks her fast. To see that tomorrow, would be worth watching Madhu's agni pariksha for her genuine faith.
Namzz,
Loved your review. The way you say it...in awe of Madhu for her unshaken faith..
But did you see, at each taunt/word from Dips and women gathered over there, how Madhu looked like wish God had mercy on her and send RK somehow.
Its really scary, not just for her weakening health...whole day of vomitting will definitely need a IV Saline drip into her body (though Madhu's make up looks bloated instead of parched skin with those Red Full Lips ), but watching today's episode, I was more pained that she is becoming a butt of ridicule...like most people who dare to dream are ridiculed.
And I was like, why none of the other ladies, if not the Bhatias, were showing concern seeing Madhu's face ? Does shedding a human concern, is it that insignificant and Madhu's keeping Vrat is that important ? Atleast the Bhatias did not ask Madhu to keep the Vrat. However, the ladies from the neighbourhood were ready to crucify Madhu with Taane about not keeping the Vrat ...at each step they were asking Madhu. My parents would have seen that girl and would have made her drink water. No...won't we have done that ? What if the husband does not turn up at all ? Would the ladies just leave her alone? I am so intrigued to know this...I don't want to imagine the already known drama of her husband coming for her rescue...
That reminds me of all customary rituals that I went through in my first marriage and all those dialogues from various aunties/chachis/mausis/coercive words/mom's confusion between trying to follow people's verdict or trying to listen to her daughter's heart...
Its just a game. Game of showmanship, who wears what, who gets what kind of gift, whose husband gave the most loveliest of the gift etc etc. I bid a namaskar to all rituals and pooja and will respectfully withdraw following those customs under societal pressure as I am quite incapable of taking people's running and advising commentary which almost makes them seem as bigots. And I hate it when intelligent parents too bow down to that kind of pressure. I think I was speaking about the same in META thread earlier in Sep. Ritual and Customary practice becomes higher than human feelings and there starts the materialism and commercialization of the festival.
Following a ritual when it gives one a meaning is like cementing what you believe. It helps building a connection with God through the belief and wishes of the person who is participating in it, because he/she is seeking God's blessing. And never I like people to be around me when I am doing my pooja...but rarely there is a societal custom without people involved in it.

Bittuji was indeed the star of the day...
But today RK was a tormented soul for me... He was in a complete state of turmoil... He wanted to completely shut his mind from being concerned about his Biwi... Bittuji was only voicing out what RK himself knows and was feeling... It was not like Bittuji was providing a reality check...He says "Aap chup rehne ke liye kya lenge"... He did not want to hear any of it coz he knew Bittuji was just voicing out his very own thoughts which he was vehemently trying to prevent from occurring ... The fact that by going home and breaking her fast means acknowledging and giving a name to their rishta was what preventing him from going... He sure claims that she is his Biwi but still he is scared(due to his past experience) to give her complete rights over him... For him, khud ko kisi aur ke haath mein saunpna is only a complete relationship which he is not willing to do at the moment... His heart was bleeding and he so badly wanted to go home coz he knew his ziddi Biwi will be waiting for him and she will not even take a sip of water before he comes but his mind was holding him back... VD portrayed the torment, turmoil, pain very well...
What if the husband is away from home during KC? can't the girl just look at his photograph through the sieve and break her fast?
Radha was sure looking at her in sympathy...But couldn't she open her mouth once and say vrat kholdo beta... Couldn't all these ladies make out that she was weak and not feeling well? They were more interested in her lehenga...
Zoya,
@bold
I just voiced the same thoughts. Was not clear as you are in so few a words. beautifully expressed. There was Total lack of Compassion towards a fellow human being when religion by Hindu standards is to become a compassionate person through practicing of 7 virtues...three of them being charity, Justice and Temperence. No one present in the episode had any charity for Madhu's health. Quality of Justice and Temperence was convoluted and husband became more important than fasting wife.
